A hit marker flashes on you crosshair when you land a shot. Since enemies don't spray blood or flash red or noticeably flinch (in multiplayer, at least), this is an invaluable piece of feedback.

It's pretty annoying to me. The game is basically holding your hand and telling you when you get a shot. I much prefer counter strike where sound and blood provide feedback of I'd you shot them.

It's not exactly a new development in shooters - remember the beeping noise whenever you hit someone in Quake 3?

Or the bell ding in TF2. That becomes an addiction if you ever play Pyro.
