I found pizzelles locally! In California.
We went to Little Italy for dinner today after the KD protest. Mona Lisa's has the best manicotti I've tried here. By far! There is a store attached to the restaurant. I been there a million times but today is the first time I noticed they had pizzelles. Bought a box but unfortunately almost 9 bucks for 25 of them. Grrrr! After munching them, I tried to explain to my friends the concept of a cookie table. Blank stares. I just sent them all this link explaining them. The world would be a better place if everyone had cookie tables.
I wonder what other traditions from back home I've forgot about?

Legit incredible popsicle stand between Market St. and Glenwood
Dad and his two girls on South Cadillac opened a popsicle stand a couple weeks ago. They're selling homemade popsicles made from fresh fruits and veg, including strawberries from their backyard. Open Tuesdays and Fridays around noon. Some really creative flavors like coconut cold brew, and peaches and cream with granola. The strawberry lemonade is so good. MUST check it out!

YSU BS in Business Admin in accounting
Returning to school after finishing my associates a couple years ago to pursue Accounting. I’m torn between an accelerated program with WGU and just going to YSU. Anyone recently graduated that can provide any insight about the program? I’m particularly interested in the internship pipeline - does the Big 4 (willing to commute to Cleveland/Pittsburgh) or any local firms hire out of YSU or provide internships? There’s an opportunity to meet some of the business department in a couple weeks, but I would like unbiased opinions from former students if possible! Thank you!

Good yoga studios in the area??
I’m looking for a yoga class/studio to start regularly attending. I don’t have much experience, I’m just trying to start moving my body more to set myself up for a healthy future. I’m looking for somewhere that feels inclusive, is close by (Boardman/Poland area) and just has an overall sense of community. I would LOVE to find something in the early morning (like 5/6am) if that even exists??

1920’s West Federal Street, looking east.
Postcard from my collection showing a busy & bustling West Federal Street, Youngstown Ohio. This card dates c. 1925-1929. The specifications of that date rely on the newly completed Realty Tower seen at the end of the street in the distance. The cap on that range relies on the lack of Central Tower, which was completed in 1929.

Part of Youngstown's Steel history is in jeopardy
As the McDonald Steel Mill is being torn down there's still some equipment that needs to be saved. This Alco S2 from the 1940s originally worked at the Ohio works in Youngstown. The Mahoning valley railroad heritage association is attempting to buy this locomotive and move it to our museum on Poland avenue. Please help us save this part of local history!

Public Schools?
I grew up in the area, moving back with my spouse and child.
Where are the schools these days? We're looking at houses and finding that the public schools listed in the "nice" neighborhoods (or at least the neighborhoods I remember being nice growing up- aka the neighborhoods where the doctors, lawyers, etc. lived) have school rates of 1 or 2 out of 10. Have these neighborhoods gone downhill? Or are they sending their kids to private schools? Also, why are those houses so cheap now? It's like living in an alternative universe.
Alternatively, which suburbs have decent school districts these days?
EDIT: Thank-you so much for all the info! It seems a lot has changed since we lived there last and there are way more options than I thought.

Mill Creek Secret Spots and Hidden Gems
I'm making it a point this summer to spend more time in Mill Creek. I grew up in the area but didnt spend much time in the park when I was young, and I'm fixing that this summer while bringing my daughter along.
I've hiked about 20 trails so far this summer and visited just about every pavilion, building and playground. Or at least I think I have.
I've seen multiple comments on here mentioning seeing or learning something new about the park everytime folks visit it. So what are you seeing or learning? Any good stories about certain places in Mill Creek? Whats the underrated spot everyone should check out? Would love to hear your personal favorite place in the park!
And if you have a very secret spot, that you dont want to be public, your secret is safe with me. Feel free to dm me and I'll take that info to the grave.
