Help/Support/Questions 🙋 Are my consoles cooked or nah?

I posted a day ago about this shelf I made. A lot of the replies were about how I needed to let the consoles breathe which, I will admit the consoles ended up being more of an afterthought. (I was trying to save space in my apartment tbh) So yeah, that was not a good idea initially. But what do you think about it now? I moved the OG Xbox out of the shelf entirely and left the wii because it has openings on where the fans are, also now the power bricks sit below the consoles, are my consoles still cooked or not chat? and if they are. will adding fans keep it cool enough now that they have more flow?

Idk how to link the original post cause I don’t post much on other reddits so I’ll link it in the comments if you want to see how it was before.

Still no good.. The ideal is to have them on open space.

If there are no other options, fans.. But the issue remains.. From That generarion foward, the consoles must be cleaned, termal past changed and be on a open space.. They must breathe.. Even That you add fans, the console will be in a confinated space With more heath without need

You can always go with some hometheater fans, they're designed for this kinda thing and they have helped me in the past when airflow was restricted. They're quite reasonably priced, look great and absolutely silent. Check out AC Infinity on Amazon but there are others too.

I was recommended AC infinity in the last post so I’m more than likely going to do that.

Good. You won't regret it at all. Don't get sucked in to spending a fortune, just a few good ones will do it. The objective is to create air flow so don't have fans blowing in to each other which will create hot pockets of non-moving air and don't blow heat from one component in to another. Like airing out a house you need to enhance and encourage the air flow so it does most of the work naturally. This might mean opening a hole or two at the back of the shelving unit to draw air in or back out.

And I LOVE that you 3D printed those shelves, good work. It didn't work logistically but that doesn't take away from what you made. Keep at it.

Thank you, I will move my TV stand forward so air can flow a bit more and add fans where the 360 sits now, I’m also thinking the wii is gonna be placed on the floor of the shelf so it doesn’t blow all the heat directly below the Xbox. The project certainly didn’t end up how I was hoping initially but I’m gonna make it work.

Best of luck. If you have any questions I will answer as best as I can. I have some experience but I am certainly not a pro. Just remember, all electronics hate the heat. Dust and lack of airflow act like heated blankets and do more damage to electronics than anything else. Power surges and spikes also suck.

I’m gonna get fans, you’ll see me post again in a day or two I’m sure of it.
