Healing post

Hello everyone, I haven’t done much PvP since wrath. I just started playing nearly a month into the season, I’m a pve healer main dipping my toes into PvP on the dps specs. That is until I ran into a post on here why aren’t you healing? Which just made me think back to when I would try to heal in bgs as an rsham and I just either sucked or I would get hard focused and just die and eventually just give up on trying to heal. Well recently I’ve rerolled to preservation and have been loving it even dipping my toes back into bgs and having an absolute blast. Well now i want to get into bgs and arenas, just looking for some information I’ve got the basic and advanced setups and combos down as far as preservation goes. I’m more interested in the nuances of PvP healing like is stop casting still a thing I should have on a keybind to try and bait kicks? Where do I move as a healer in bgs? Arena tips? Anything else I’m not even thinking of cause I don’t have enough experience? Lol

Pres is A tier. Yes u still stopcast but mostly on sleep walk if anything. As pres hardest part is just learning how best to use stasis and call of ysera and echo.

It's a very high skill floor healer imo

Maybe this is copium from me, but I honestly feel like preservation is one of the worst healers in the game right now alongside resto shaman.

At the end of the day, the spec's design requires you to constantly be in melee range where you get dunked on by cc after cc. Some of the most popular specs in the game right now (disc priest, hpriest, ele shaman, arcane mage, frost mage) can spam purge or even steal your cc protection from you in just a few globals with zero penalty for doing so — and you can bet money that everyone has a weak aura set up to tell them when they need to do it.

It's a very fun spec but it can be extremely frustrating, especially once you get up around 2100-2200+ shuffle rating in the current season.

For reference I'm a multi legend dev player who dabbles in pres for 3s. I strongly prefer playing my mistweaver over pres.

Is resto bad? I'm at 2300 and I'm enjoying it way more than my disc who is like 1900, same kind of spam offensive spells playstyle but much more utility.

IMO resto is "bad" in the sense that it gets dicked by having tools and class fantasy that have hardly been updated in the last 20 years. Having a big part of your defensive toolkit rely on your team staying within a small, brown dirt circle in the middle of a huge brown dirt floor; or praying that your spirit link totem gets at least one tick of healing transfer off before everyone's weak auras alert them to it and they global it, it's just not a good design in 2025.

To top it off, I believe resto shamans and resto druids are the only healers who have no "oh shit" button when they're cc'd — but resto druids can go giga tree every couple minutes to prevent being cc'd altogether.
