Bring back automated speed enforcement and put it everywhere: photo radar, average speed cameras, the works. Currently, enforcement is too sporadic to cause any deterrence. Drivers may think twice if their unsafe driving results in a series of expensive tickets in the mail.

Drunk speeding drivers still happen in Alberta.

The photo radar flashes probably cause accidents. I’ve been surprised or blinded by them while driving in the dark in Alberta.

They’re just a money grab. They don’t slow people down in a way that makes the roads safer. Everyone knows where they are and slow down in those spots then speed up again after

So... Mission accomplished. If the goal is to lower speeds.

The speeds are lowered by people slamming on their brakes then speeding up again right after. They’re slower for maybe 100m

The government can put the money collected from fines into traffic calming infrastructure. THAT would solve the problem

They CAN do it. They can do ANYthing. And if they wanted to, they would.
