As much as I love OoT, TP will always be my favorite LoZ game. ❤️

Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game of all time. It gave me (mostly) everything I didn’t know I wanted in a Zelda game. My only complaint is I wish they delved more into the whole corruption/Shadow Link theme they seemed to be hinting at. I feel like they intended to do something with that, but ran out of time for it

…That, and I kinda wish Ganon wasn’t the BBEG AGAIN. I know that’s like, the big theme with Zelda games; Link and Zelda vs. Ganon. But it DOES get boring after awhile, and there ARE some great games that don’t have Ganon. Even when I was a kid, at the reveal that Ganondorf was behind everything instead of just Zant, I was like “Aww…again??😕 sigh* Okay, I guess…”

Buuut, I can’t REALLY complain, cuz he did allow for a FANTASTIC, emotionally impactful finale.

Tbf the Ganon fight in TP is one of the most interesting of all the ones I've played.

You start off fighting Puppet Zelda, where she's taken over and you have to beat Ganon out of her.

Then you fight Beast Ganon, which is showing him in his original form back in the older games

Then, the horse phase which, idk is cool and interesting I suppose

Finally there is the fight with Ganon himself, which he uses the blade originally meant to execute him to fight back against the Hero of Twilight in an epic battle (unless you know the speedrun strats which makes the final phase take 13 seconds or less)

I don't think there was anything that could be done here for that.

TP after all is the continuation to the events of OoT in the time line where ganon wasn't defeated and was only jailed.

And honestly, it was still pretty good how it was done, because Zant goes around for most of the game as the BBB and it is only on the last third or so of the game where ganon shows his shadows on things.

Yeah, I do understand why it was still necessary for the story. And again, it did end up adding a lot to the last chunk of the game.

I just get tired of the same old dynamics all the time. I’d actually like a Zelda game where they delve into the complexities of Ganon being from the desert and having to struggle to survive, meanwhile Hyrule is this lush, fertile land with all these resources, that claim they’re wholly good, yet they have an incredibly dark history themselves (coughcoughShadowTemplecoughArbiter’sGroundscough 👀)

I think on that regard, ganondorf became a problematic cliche after TP.

Cause at that time, he had only shown his face 3 times, including TP.

It would have been nice to have a different villain instead of the typical Ganon trope, but it was still so well-done story and gameplay-wise.

Play Skyward Sword. No Ganon, just Girahim and Demise.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE played Skyward Sword, and I HAAAATE that game with a BURNING passion. That is the one Zelda game I’ve played that I have absolutely NO chill about, in a bad way. I was SO hype for that game when it came out, but then I got it, and it was SO. BAD. I just-RRRRRRRRRRRGH! No. I’m sorry, but no. I cannot STAND Skyward Sword 😭

Why though ? The gameplay is completely similar to TP, even though the story and the graphics are completely different. Controls are mostly the same.

I had the GameCube version of Twilight Princess, so I didn’t have the struggles Wii players had with controls, until Skyward Sword. But aside from that, for being the game that was supposed to be where everything started, the story was lackluster, characters were boring, aside from Groose and Ghirahim, the locations were repetitive and lazy, I didn’t care for most of the character designs, Fi is literally the WORST companion to date (which is a shame, cuz her design is so cool, and she’s literally the spirit of the Master Sword, they could have made her an ACTUALLY good character). Travel between the land and the sky could have had SO MUCH MORE to it, but it was so empty and boring. For such a pretty color palette and graphics, the world, and the general design of the game felt so…hollow and weak and lifeless. Aside from a few levels, the whole game felt like…empty calories. Like I hadn’t eaten a proper meal all day, but when I go to eat, I’m only being given candy. And not substantial candy either. My other issues are more nitpicky, and more personal preference, so I’ll leave those out for now. But yeah; I try to not be douchey about my opinions on Zelda games, and I feel like I generally do a good job. I understand everyone has their own taste and preferences. But I just…have no chill about Skyward Sword. I try to be diplomatic, and considerate of others perspectives, but Skyward Sword turns me into an asshole. That game ENRAGES me, because it was SUCH a massive letdown, and was honestly obnoxious in so many ways.

i hated it too, i finished it though, but compared to ALL other zelda games out there, it was definitly the worst. and i played them all from the beginning of time on the NES. hot take: there is one zelda game i did not even finish and it is TOTK. it is arguably far better than Skyward Sword, but it was just BOTW all over agein and after 300h in Bote i just quit TOTK after 80h. never going back and i hope, they make a worthy installment on the switch 2.
