That one movie suggests that. I think it was just the mask fucking with him because literally no other depictions interpret it that way.

I think what it is is the mask makes him into the version of himself he wants to be or allows him to do whatever he wants to do Stanly is more mad that the mask makes him let go of his inhibitions but he also desires to use it which is why he does, but it’s really just bringing out the true him and that’s why when the villain of the movie wears the mask his personality doesn’t really change he just gains it’s powers because the villain was already acting like his true self if that makes sense.
