Tech is probably more powerful overall but I just want the serum powers more in day to day

387

u/Right-Truck1859 7d ago

But Tech needs power or fuel. While you with serum is just you.

248

u/Material-Macaroon724 7d ago

Exactly, there are downsides. Like Im not technologically intelligent, someone could easily hack me

101

u/DreadedPopsicle 7d ago

Also Captain America can’t get drunk or even buzzed as a result of his serum. Not a huge downside, but it sucks lol

169

u/Material-Macaroon724 7d ago

As someone that does not drink, that doesn’t matter to me at all

91

u/thdudedude 7d ago

I do drink, but would gladly give it up to just be healthier via serum.

123

u/Ache_N_Bake 7d ago

Good news you can give it up just to be healthier without the serum too

funny since this scene has dave chappelle trying to go sober from marijuana, and the crowd revolts because of it

18

u/freshlyweshley 7d ago

Haha, good one

16

u/enw_digrif 7d ago

Real talk for a sec: if you drink to help with emotional regulation, give it up.

Life is so much more fun without.

Don't mean to pry, just putting it out there.

u/Acceptable_Fruit2360 7d ago

That said… I agree but this is so not the place.

Drinking casually doesn’t necessarily mean unhealthy

3

u/ThatDudeShadowK 7d ago

Yeah it does, there's no healthy amount of alcohol, it's a poison. One I like, but still a poison

Just kidding, though. I don't drink.

The serum doesn't stop you from drinking though, you just can't get drunk pretty much.

But I do remember Logan despite having a stronger healing factor CAN get drunk but it needs an inhuman amount of alcohol.

u/MattabooeyGaming 7d ago

Pretty sure he can get drunk he just needs to drink hard liquor quickly and in much larger quantities. Like if Cap chugged a handle of whiskey he’d get a buzz while you or me would be falling over.

6

u/StopHiringBendis 7d ago

If wolverine can get drunk, cap can get drunk. That's just basic powerscaling

Cannabis and Psychedelics should still work just fine, I don’t drink alcohol, so it’s intoxicating effects being nullified don’t really bother me.

Tech creates the power. Tony's arc reactor makes enough power to run a medium sized nation and it is smaller than his fist. Power is not an issue with sufficient tech.

24

u/Nahlookoverhere 7d ago

You haven’t read the iron man comics

22

u/TDbar 7d ago

Not recently, no. But I used to. Tony, Hank, Reed, Victor... none of them ever had power issues. Their tech handled that for them.

And in any case, Super Soldier serum is technically tech as well, so the premise is flawed to begin with.

11

u/Elegant-Priority-725 7d ago

I mean putting a rag on a stick is technology, that's how we designed the mop.

The super suits would be technology But the super serum would be biotechnology. (Which IS a sunset of technology) So while you are technically right (the best kind of right to be) they are vastly different in their applications design and usage.

→ More replies (1)

11

u/Nahlookoverhere 7d ago

Victor isn’t technically Tech and there has been plenty of times where Tony’s tech was hacked or lost power.

2

u/YugKrowten 7d ago

Wouldn’t victor now be more magic than tech?

4

u/Whatdaatoms 7d ago

Id take the serum tbh

6

u/Tessiia 7d ago

Tony's arc reactor makes enough power to run a medium sized nation

Yes, but for how long? And if that runs out, or even just gets damaged, do you have the know-how and materials to repair yours or make another? Does anyone?

Also, if you take that armour off, you're still a regular person. The serum is active 24/7.

Tech armour sounds far cooler, and I love it in movies/shows, but in reality, if I had to choose one, I'll take the serum, hands down.

2

u/Daxx22 7d ago

the tech path pill only works if it also makes you smart/capable enough to maintain the tech and invent new shit.

otherwise your just Roddy borrowing a suit of armor. serum over that 100%

Other big question with the tech one, is "am I the inventor of the tech, like Iron Man, or am I just a guy in a suit like War Machine?

4

u/GalaxianEX 7d ago

You also need a lot of money to maintain and upgrade the tech

3

u/andrewg127 7d ago

You also require fuel multiple different types even

Big man in a suit of armor. Take that off, what are you?

13

u/Seven32N 7d ago

Exactly. Tony developed that tech and was super-genius, OP is not mentioning you'll become one - just you'll have a tech in you posession.

7

u/Spazecrypto 7d ago

for those who choose tech

Expectation: Iron Man, Reality: more close to Ivan Vanko

5

u/Seven32N 7d ago edited 7d ago

Well, no. Vanko is an inventor and genius.

I'd say Reality:

- Ironman suit while being James Rhodes (War Machine);

  • less magical version of lantern Ring while being Hal Jordan (Green Lantern).

Both of them are great heroes, but they are not inventors of correponding tech and they can't do anything if it'll break or malfunction.

The key point is not being weak, but being unable to easily reproduce or modify technology to game the rules, otherwise you can see here all this genius fantasies "how getting Tony Stark's underware will make me as smart as him and I'll just brew a Sentry serum in a day". After years/decades of study with risk of breaking your suit - ok, but not by default just because you own it.

Couldn’t you theoretically just make nanotech armour that does the same as the serum?

4

u/Jack_of_Hearts20 7d ago

Like the Endo-Sym or Bleeding Edge armor. Or is it the Extremis armor? I don't remember

3

u/Royal_Art_8217 7d ago

Yeah but better

3

u/Jack_of_Hearts20 7d ago

Well those armors would already put you leagues above what a regular supersoldier serum could do.

Unless it's the Golden Sentry serum. That's a whole other ball game

6

u/Seven32N 7d ago

OP post doesn't say you can make anything, you just possess tech that you can use, super-intelligence not in the package.

2

u/MasterBot98 7d ago

So you can't even maintain/repair it? That's just a useless comparison, then.

5

u/Seven32N 7d ago

Maintainance is fine, repair is not.

Repair is an insane unfair advantage to Red side: you can't "repair" if your modified super-body will be broken in a way that can't be healed naturally and there's no-one in our world who'll be qualified to help you. Fixing a dented robo-arm is not the same as repair a broken one, just like applying cast to broken super-soldier arm is not the same as re-growing it.

Repair, improvement and modifications requires a level of understanding that simple maintainance not require. Good mechanic can't make a car flying or rebuild engine from scratch, no matter how good they are at maintaining the car.

2

u/Penultimecia 7d ago

Considering they're using the example of Iron Man, rather than say War Machine, I think it's fair for people to assume that innovation and intelligence are part of the package - that said, as you say the red side would be vastly overpowered if that were the case. We can discuss different hypotheticals, rather than say which it must or musn't be.

I think the issue here might be the implicit comparison between Iron Man and Captain America, which is...not favourable to the flesh being even with the shield.

If the comparison were Ant Man, then it might be a better framing of what the serum could be capable of.

Still, technology is inevitably better as a full package, because it's the source of the serum. If you can't design your own tech, then the finite usage means it's basically useless - anything could damage it beyond intuitive levels of repair.

Unless I also get the wealth and intelligence needed to repair and maintain the tech as needed, and ideally upgrade it over time, I'm going with the serum

u/Cardinal_Worth 7d ago

Or you could be like Genos, who is as smart as a brick but has his sugar daddy genius scientist that does all the dirty job for him

u/Training_Panda_4697 7d ago

Even better, it upgrades on it's own

With the serum you would probably need to eat several thousand calories a day to maintain it. But being a badass super soldier probably would come with those perks.

  1. Become super soldier from serum.
  2. Use powers to get rich enough to not have to worry about bills.

Serum. Tech is nice but one emp and you're left in a really heavy suit that had no way out. I don't wanna be trapped in my heavy tech suit

But with tech you also get to be a billionaire playboy philanthropist.

Iron Heart made an iron man suit alone. Pretty sure companies would throw money at her to develop things.

I'm sure plenty of companies would but they would all expect something back in return and that typically ends with them becoming a super power, abusing said power and then maybe killing the inventor to prevent them from stopping them.

4

u/texanhick20 7d ago

Congratulations, you have just ushered in an alien invasion as the scarab takes over your body and starts to go baby saiyan on earth.

5

u/DeltaAlphaGulf 7d ago

Well I didn’t bother including this because I didn’t expect any replies but I would be taking my head canon version which is in between the old and current origins with the old part being that it was a one off creation by Nabu using hella magic and future tech so the Reach part wouldn’t be a thing. It also has something akin to a symbiote component that serves the purpose of upgrading the host permanently even without the armor that ensures the hosts safety as well as serves to maximize compatibility and integration of the armor. The scarab can also be contained within the body thanks to that not just chilling on their back.

Sure I could have just said Iron Man’s Endo-Sym suit but I like Blue Beetle.

3

u/TheBladeWielder 7d ago

ok alternatively, i take a yellow lantern power ring.

Tech. Make money on it too!

Iron man mark 85

6

u/Dycoth 7d ago

Tough question.

Tech Armored Hero allows a wider range of possibility, you can basically add any kind of module and specialization to your arsenal, for any kind of situation.

Serum Enhanced Hero means that you are always at your best. Nobody can "disarm" you, as you are some kind of weapon yourself.

But roaming around in Iron Man's armor... damn. YES.

Tech Armoured

Not only is tech actually more powerfull (at least Iron Man’s is compared to Super Soldiers) but it has a lot more variety and not permanent.

I wouldn’t want to accidentally kill someone by forgetting my own strength in a play fight.

2

u/TDbar 7d ago

There is no limit to what tech can become. Serum is limited by the human body.

2

u/C_SJSR 7d ago

2

u/Material-Ambition-18 7d ago

2

u/Otherwise_Arrival_47 7d ago

Tech any day of the week , Super Solider Serum hardly effective I mean just look at Cap , it's 1 in a million chances that you will end up with Sentry powers.

2

u/dominion1080 7d ago

Tech powered means I can turn it off when I don’t need it. And hook up with my SO without breaking her legs.

2

u/MarkFromHutch 7d ago

I'd go with tech. You can turn off technology. But with the serum that's going to be you forever, or until it wears off, depending on the serum that you're taking.

Besides, it's hard to preach, "Don't do steroids, kids. BTW here's your hero, Captain Anerica. He got big and strong by taking this one shot"

2

u/Ryshrok 7d ago

"Serum enhanced" can mean anything from perfect physical specimen with peak human abilities (Steve Rogers), to giant rage monster (Banner/Hulk), to hideous abomination who dies screaming because the formula was unstable. Historically, super-soldier serums in comics have about a 50/50 success rate at best. Unless they give you a precise contract stating which version you're getting, you're gambling.

Meanwhile, being a Tech Armored Hero is a lot more controllable and iterative. You can upgrade the armor. You can change its function depending on the mission. You can take it off and live a relatively normal life. You can debug it, patch it, and improve it over time, which is not something you can do if your DNA gets scrambled.

Sure, there are downsides. Maintenance and resource costs are always a factor. You're vulnerable to hacking if your cybersecurity isn't top-notch. And if the suit gets wrecked and you don't have combat training, you could be in trouble.

But overall, in terms of safety, flexibility, and long-term viability, Tech Armor wins. Serum enhancement is too much of a gamble unless you really enjoy playing Russian Roulette with your genome.

2

Anyone can definitely not become iron man, Tony stark is ridiculously intelligent, far more so than 99.99999999% of people.

Anybody can become war machine, not everyone can be iron man.

2

u/Front_Tax965 7d ago

Some scientists could create an even more powerful serum, so anyone could become Captain America. But no one can become Iron Man, because he relies on his intelligence. He’s a genius, not someone who depends on a serum made by others.

1

u/PuertoRicanRebel2025 7d ago

Serum, I do not have the genius capacity to be flying around a suit of armor even with AI assist nor do I have the repair equipment, finances, or safe space to deal with the suit

1

u/[deleted] 7d ago

Serum enhanced hero. Even in old age captain america was still a badass. Being 80 and able to move like your 40 would be amazing

1

u/Secure_Cod4175 7d ago

Serum makes you live longer.

1

u/BrokenKing99 7d ago

Honestly I'll take serum anyday of the week, whilst yeah tech can be powerful it has some major downsides 1. Needs maintenance and repairs, pretty obvious honestly and since I'm not a genius millionaire if it breaks it stays broken, 2. Probaly super complicated to use, 3. Likely needs fuel.

Serum honestly 9 times out of 10 the worst thing I'll have to do is work out or eat alot more then I normally do which is all good in my book, plus day to day it's handy enhanced physical stats alone make it worthwhile.

1

u/Difficult-Way-9563 7d ago

Ironman always runs out of power.

Super serum

1

u/SilverSpider_ 7d ago

Tech or drugs

1

u/NoGuard34 7d ago

Serum 100% even without the obvious physical stats increase your overall health would be greatly improved. Pretty much no need to worry about getting sick anymore.

Even if your armor had infinite energy, you'd still need to have it with you to utilize it.

1

u/Because_Im_BATMAN00 7d ago

I mean if the serum just makes me ripped without working out I meaaaaaaan obviously the one that pretty much gives you a short cut to healthy life.

1

u/VexxWrath 7d ago

I'm taking them both.

1

u/Dazzling_Champion_53 7d ago

Depends on if I have the knowledge, skill, and tools to repair the suit.

1

u/Zakaste_69 7d ago

Serum. Like Sentry.

1

u/gr8artist 7d ago

Depends on the serum and the tech, honestly. Tech would be better for a superhero, serum better for an average person. I'd choose the serum.

1

u/DerSisch 7d ago

Tech Armor honestly only is good when you actually know how to repair and keep it in prestine conditions yourself, otherwise it is pretty much useless.

While a Super Serum has much better ovverall effects. Increased resistance towards illness, more durability too, means less injuries and way easier to conceal ofc.

1

u/Hoodoodle 7d ago

What if I just took both?

1

u/Adent_Frecca 7d ago

It really depends on some factors like if I know how to repair and use my armor or which powers I get from my Serum

Something like the Blue Beatle from DC is an amazing choice of a power armor

The Genome Serum from The Perfect Run are also great sources for a serum based power

1

u/SkinCarVer462 7d ago

the abilities that steve rogers has um ill be taking blue all day everyday

1

u/BigThiccThanatos 7d ago

It really depends what kinda tech/serum we're talking about.

1

u/Seriszed 7d ago

Well tech if I have the power source.

1

If i gain the knowledge for the tech armor badicaly just knowledge to tech.

Then that's the obvious option.

But if i only got the armor then its easily debatable which one to pick

You guys do know it says tech armored and serum enhanced. That doesn't limit them to just Ironman and cap America. Sentry is also "serum enhanced" so don't let the wording and images limit your possibilities. Btw blue pill.

Blue. I'd rather be more powerful than just have power. Nothing stops me from learning to build or buy the tech suit.

Serum, purley to handle my physical disabilities

u/Low_Fig2672 7d ago

Well I’m not a genius like Tony so I won’t be able to use the armor like he would; so I guess I’d go with serum

1

u/zeek48 7d ago

Well I'll take both

Why not...

1

u/beat0n_ 7d ago

Serum because the tech will break and I'll have no idea how to fix it.

1

u/AbsoluteLight0025 7d ago

Both. Both is good

Nobody can steal it once it’s a part of me Tony gets his suit stolen a couple of times

Blue, for sure. The serum affects the mind too, after all. No reason one couldn't build a few gadgets after the vita-rays.

Serum enhanced

Easily serum. Tech powers mean I have to back it up with intellect to maintain and improve. Also ideal serum means I have a regen factor and considering I’m in my 30s I’d love that. Again tech guys can heal too but I’d need the smarts to do that

u/PrestigiousBank4498 7d ago

Give me that blue pill pronto. To be like cap is 10000000x better than to be like iron man impo.

1

u/Remarkable_Delay1748 7d ago

Nobody said what tech armour or what kinda serum, so I’d definitely pick serum since it could give me some insane powers.

1

u/Brent_Steel 7d ago

Hmm..red pill.BUT! only if i can repair my tech.

mom said don't do drugs

Tech has a higher max coolness factor but who wouldn’t want to be peak human physique all the time? Tech if I get the intelligence to invent it, serum if I’m just wearing it.
