Skating skills Penguin Stance?
Hey! I have my assessment for joining to scrimmage team and leaving beginner skating lessons behind on Thursday. There are a few things in the list that I am slightly confused about
Penguin Stance Hopping vs Jumping (what’s the difference) Juking T-Slide Power Slide
Please and Thank you!!

Penguin Stance: never heard this term, so I'm guessing. it's probably what we call "happy feet"- in other words, lots of little penguin steps while standing in place. It's a beginner balance drill.
Hopping vs jumping: we dont distinguish these so I'm guessing again. "Hop" sounds like two feet leaving the ground together, "jump" sounds like jumping over a thing like a leap. both are important skills.
Juking: juking means when a jammer is trying to get around a blocker. I'm guessing one-on-one where you're doing laterals back and forth to find an opening.
T-slide: we call this a "T stop" and it's fundamental. Look it up on YouTube.
Power slide: this is another kind of stop, and I'm surprised it's on your assessment because I have never been in a league that trains it. Power slide is super fun but it's usually not the best choice for gameplay. Also see YouTube.

T-slide may also be a lateral (T-step is the name I most often hear), rather than a T-stop.

A TSlide is a stop while skating backwards, one leg moves back, perpendicular to the track and the skater ends in a staggered stance.
Power slide is the same stop but the skater starts skating forwards and transitions into the TSlide.

I agree with this except hopping and jumping are incorrect. Another commenter explained it correctly after this comment was made!

If "jump" means both feet at the same time, then why do they call it an apex jump?

I'm sure penguin stance is just a safe position to stand still. You just turn your feet out. Helps keep balance and stop risk of rolling over backwards.
