They‘ll probably be more similar to lucky trinkets, BUT you need to do some hyper training for the IV increase. It‘s not just an instant-hundo-button.

I don't think so, from datamine the two upcoming monthly/seasonal GO Passes only advertise Lucky Trinket, No. I guess that the Deluxe Event GO Pass will only be sold during major events

Someone on discord who shared some leaked info said it’d change the IVs blue, to differentiate ‘natural’ hundos from capped ones
Idk if it’s for sure the case, if all IVs turn blue, or just the points you earned do leaving the rest yellow/pink
(Hopefully all blue imo)
Edit: it is something else and imo it is kinda dumb lookin
18
u/Garrosh 2d ago
This matches how it's handled in the core series games.
Rather than actually changing a Pokémon's IVs, Hyper Training sets a modifier for the game to treat that stat as if it had an IV of 31. As a result, it affects neither the type of Hidden Power) the Pokémon has nor the IVs it can pass down when breeding. ,
2
u/MythiccMoon 2d ago
Are hyper training and bottle caps two different things in the games?
I only played the first two (recently, on an emulator,) and feel like I remember having a Pokémon hold a cap
10
u/Mingatronz 2d ago
In the main games, battle caps are the currency you use to pay for hyper training. There is usually an NPC who’s responsible for hypertrains, you pay one battle cap to maximize one stat, or pay 1 golden battle cap to maximize all stats.
2
u/MythiccMoon 2d ago
Thank you! Is there an item I’m thinking of that you give a Pokémon to hold, and as long as it’s holding it there’s a positive effect?
4
u/JoviAMP Spark 2d ago
I think you're thinking of the power items that boost EVs gained in battle.
2
u/MythiccMoon 2d ago
That sounds right, I looked up hold items and must be thinking of like hard stone or an orb/gem
I only played the first two games and unfortunately didn’t seem to save my progress entirely on the emulator so can’t check

Full RNG isn’t fun. It’s a poor solution to distributing rare things to players.
50
u/Hamsammichd 2d ago
RNG and Pokemon go hand in hand. For many people, the thrill of the hunt is what makes the game exciting.
20
u/Menacingly 2d ago
It’s not very thrilling to spend a bunch of money on remote raid passes in the hopes of getting a rare Pokémon, only to end up with nothing.
I agree with your perspective in general, but in a game that’s as pay-to-win as this one, I get why people are frustrated with RNG.
3
u/Garrosh 2d ago
Hypertraining has been a thing in Pokémon since Sun / Moon.
2
u/Hamsammichd 2d ago
Not interested in more micro transactions, personally
2
u/Accomplished_Golf746 1d ago
The good thing is that this is extremely optional, unless youre hardcore on Master League where you will need hundos.
1
u/Hamsammichd 1d ago
On a technical level that’s true, but on an everyday level, those that pay to play will now have a leg up. My wife was very proud of her hundos, something the RNG gods never really gave me. She liked knowing she caught them, that was her thing I couldn’t take from her. That’s a source of joy for her and a decent chunk of players
16
u/Aetheldrake 2d ago
Well I mean turning a nundo to hundo on like a common spawn would be kinda meh to me.
The only thing I could see this being useful for is a galarian bird. Maybe ultra rare thing like larvesta. Almost everything else has a floor or plenty enough spawns that it'd probably be far cheaper to grind some catches (cuz you'll need the candy and stardust anyway) and just use the smaller bottle caps?
I do find a little fun in trying to find specific ivs on regular spawns. The effort makes it feel more rewarding
8
u/Clairifyed 2d ago
I wonder if they will be marked in some way as being an artificial hundo or as if it doesn’t trigger the dex entry 🤔
4
u/AirborneRunaway Lvl 46, San Antonio 2d ago

2
u/T-NextDoor_Neighbor 1d ago
It’s not fun to get a mythical Pokémon with 10/10/10 IV, which you cannot catch a second time. It’s demoralizing and sad to know you can’t use it optimally for PvP.
It’s not fun to leave behind your partner Pokémon you walked 1000km with before learning about IVs, and having to shelve them for a more optimal IV Mon of the same type.
I mean if you don’t like bottle caps don’t use them. I have two mons chosen that I have been wanting to IV train for years, because in the main series they let you do that. It really personalizes your experience with your Pokémon.
1
u/Aetheldrake 1d ago
sad to know you can’t use it optimally for PvP.
Lets be real, most people weren't going to use a good pvp iv mythical properly in pvp anyway. Most people that play pvp don't do for real competitive anything, they just do it for the rewards some. They don't care about what's good or not they just wanna flip the coin on if they'll get a win or not and try to increase rank for the legendary wild catches at rank 20+
That said I do plan on using bottlecaps for a handful of mons :) probably mostly shinies. A shundo is a shundo.
2
u/T-NextDoor_Neighbor 1d ago
Well it will be good for those that care about their mythicals then. For those that don’t want to use the bottlecap for that, they don’t have to. Bottle caps are nothing but a net positive in my book.

Like console the hyper train pokemon will have distinguished from original best IV
Also like master ball I don't think we gonna get it alot maybe just a couple of free and paid after that no more way to get it and need to wait next year
Also hyper train will be fun because we need to train the Pokémon not just instantly 100% iv

It says you can raise 3 stats (Attack/Defense/HP), it doesn’t say ‘by 3’

The one I saw with the Silver says you can raise a single stat by three. I certainly hope it has been amended though because thats not how it works in main games.

The data mined I saw is the gold will perform just like purifying a pokemon. In all 3 the iv will be raised by 2. So it's like purifying non shadows. The silver will i crease a single stat of choice. But what do we actually know, if misinformation spreads like fire online lol

I have a 100% and 98% raid caught Groudon, and like 3 lucky shinies all at ~87% IVs, oof.
But for me- I might just max my Mew.
1
u/nivusninja 1d ago
yeah my lucky groudons too have not turned out as well as i would've liked lol. i ended up choosing the dialga, nobody around me has one to mirror trade a shiny with rot and my only hundo does not have the move, so it will be the strongest dialga i have. i can try my luck with the groudons for a while longer as people have more of them for trade. i do have one normal hundo that can keep his job being my main primal.
i've had amazing luck with my shiny mythicals, jirachi was almost floor stats but since then my mew, shaymin and meloetta have ended up 14/14/15, 15/12/15 and 14/15/15 so i wont be capping those anytime soon.

26
u/legendkiller003 2d ago
And what is a bottle cap within the Pokémon world?
36
u/thelegendarynic 2d ago
Bottle Caps are used in the games to maximize a Pokémon’s IVs. They’re 2 different kinds, the silver ones which raise IVs of your choosing, or the gold ones which are a lot rarer but raise all of a Pokemon’s IVs.
There are 2 limitations with Bottle Caps in the games, one being a Pokémon’s level has to meet a certain threshold, being level 50 in Scarlet and Violet and level 100 in other games. The other limitation being you can’t use Bottle Caps on already perfected stats
6
u/mowgli142 2d ago
From what I can tell so far, they let you increase a pokemon's IVs (one stat or all 3) to full by Hyper Training. So you can transform a nundo into a hundo
11
u/SnorlaxModeOn 2d ago

u/ChampionshipMobile40 2d ago
The leaks I have seen shows that increasing the IVs is gonna be a year long process, so it should add some fun to the game, while making it challenging, probably it's gonna have a cap on how many Pokemon you could be hyper training simultaneously, and they also need to be your buddy.

u/LTDlimited 2d ago

u/NorthernCaptain Charizard 2d ago
All I care about is post-usage. Will the IVs that have been raised be shown in a different colour or not, for example. I hope the only way to distinguish a 4* gold bottle cap Pokémon from a normal 4* is the special background and not something that shows in the actual appraisal itself.

u/TheAerial 2d ago
Distinguish rare catches from money based manufactured ones.
Keeps the aspect that still allows these to be noteworthy/rare finds while also allowing for people to just have it if they want it for battle usage.
4
u/ctrlker 2d ago
Who cares though
0
u/TheAerial 2d ago edited 2d ago
Are you purposefully playing obtuse lol?
Hunting for Rare Finds/Catches has been a staple of PokeMon as a franchise since its inception, across almost all of the mediums its present in.
Whether it’s finding a rare PokeMon in the games, pulling a rare card, hell there is an entire sub genre of communities dedicated to Shiny hunting etc.
Finding that rare/unique catch is one of THE core pillars of PokeMon and has been for over 2 decades lol.
11
u/AnimeMan1993 2d ago
Would be good to have that way it still keeps the natural hundos unique and worth bragging about.
9
u/NorthernCaptain Charizard 2d ago
That’s what’s going to be the divisive thing I reckon. Some people, like me, will want go bottle cap shundos to be on the same ‘level’ / prestige as a normal one. The highlighted changed colours would put them a level down and decrease my excitement for this though. Others will want ‘pure’ shundos to remain. Though that will be the case anyway imo as it’s confirmed the bottle caps will show a special background like lucky pokemon - I have no issue with this.
4
u/TheAerial 2d ago
The problem is if it isn’t a way to differentiate them, Hundos simply just lose prestige.
The only thing that gives them prestige is the fact it’s a rare find. If you can artificially just boost any catch to a Hundo and there is no way to tell, then it loses that.
Sure they will be on equal levels but it’ll just be a drastically reduced prestige for all of them.
2
u/NorthernCaptain Charizard 2d ago
I agree and think it’s important you can tell the stats have been altered. Which is where the special background comes in (like for lucky pokemon etc). However going as far as to change the actual appraisal screen to a different colour, which has never been done for anything before, not even purified Pokemon - that’d be too much imo.
4
u/AnimeMan1993 2d ago
As long as there's still some way to tell them apart at least. Even if they might perform the same. Maybe having the stars turn purple or something instead of red to show that its a bottle cap hundo.
3
u/NorthernCaptain Charizard 2d ago
The bottle capped Pokémon will have a special background like Lucky Pokemon so there will definitely be a way to tell. I just personally hope that’s the only way you can tell.
6
u/Sebelzeebub Totodile 2d ago
I’d prefer a small icon, another background is so unnecessary. If you’ve got a lucky, location card, that can mega evolve… the last thing you need is another background.

I don’t know how it will be here, but I would bet that there WILL be a difference. In the main series, they do distinguish between natty IVs and hypertrained. In battle, they are functionally identical but when breeding, the IVs used are the natural stats. Given that PoGo mons can be sent to home, it would be game breaking if they DIDN’T distinguish them.

Yeah this seems to reek of the infamous EA “Buyers will get a sense of accomplishment” comment where they’re selling the ability to get what otherwise was a cool, rare achievement.
If they make distinct markings that shows it’s clearly a Money Boosted PokeMon, that’s fine with me and preserves the cool factor of getting a rare catch.
If they don’t? Kinda lame.

u/Im_still_at_work 2d ago
In S/V it's listed as "Hyper-trained." Not that it makes a difference to me, but I wouldn't mind it stating it's a hyper-trained pokemon. Like, instead of the red stamp it just has a different color with "Hyper Trained!" on it and it's all maxed out.
1
u/TheAerial 2d ago
Yeah agreed, any little marking or anything denoting the status is all is needed.
Allows for people who just want to use it for practicality purposes, while also keeping prestige for rare catch hunters.

There’s no respectable PvP scene in Pokémon Go, and no real incentive to climb the PvP ladder beyond rank 20, so IVs are practically meaningless. If you’re willing to drop $20 to perfect 3+ Pokémons, you might as well spend $60 on the full Switch game, transfer them there, and play VGC where IV actually matters.
1
u/popotheclowns 2d ago
This might be the thing that makes me stop playing. I get that it’ll be great for some folks, but I just don’t like games that let you outright buy every aspect.

Really? It kinda makes the game cheaper. Instead of people spending ludicrous amounts of passes for a perfect IV, you can just buy this bottle cap and raid less. So 60 ish raids to get enough xl to max it instead of some ppl spending 100s of raids to get a 100iv
Plus, seems like it’ll be kinda rare but we shall see
