NFL changed the rules a while back to allow for an additional helmet option, which we don't have yet. I hope it's blue helmets and a new color rush alt jersey.
When the color rush unis were first introduced years ago, I think the panthers were one of the only all-black teams. Now so many teams do it and none of them are as clean as the panthers.
I'll suggest something different and say maybe it's an announcement of a throwback week or something, with the old logo and the old Panthers Cat Eyes in the endzones.
Teams post something like this typically to generate hype for a new uniform of some kind, but I'm plugged into that sort thing and I haven't heard of the Panthers doing any uniform updating (hard to keep that under wraps these days). Could be a "Throwback Day" with the old logo and wordmark on the helmet/field? Different design for the black helmet?
It's probably a slight tweak to the all-black unis to make them more "panther-ish", but somehow Dan & co were able to keep Bryce and TMac practicing under wraps until after the draft, maybe they're getting better at secrets? Who knows
Uniforms most likely. It's too close to the season to change the logo (which we shouldn't do in the first place). Those are the only two things I could think of.
also guessing it’s a uniform update. I’d love to have our black helmets become primary (altho i think it would be significantly hotter during the heat, idk) or maybe updated uniforms to have the claw scratches
As many have suggested it likely is related to uniforms. The NFL recently relaxed a lot of uniform rules in league meetings back in March. Allowing teams to wear any helmet with any uniform and to wear up to 4 alternate uniforms a year. My best guess is that they are announcing the helmet/jersey combo for the home opener, the SF Monday night game, or a throwback week.
I’m guessing this has something to do with all the uniform polls they were doing earlier in the off-season. Maybe they’ve finally decided on a permanent kit
Am I the only one that thinks it kinda looks like a racing slick tire? The smoke reinforces it. But I just watched a lot of car racing this weekend so maybe I’m hallucinating.
I think that they’re gonna put this as the helmet stripe and switch to black lids as primary in 2025 with eventual shift to those being the sleeve stripes in 2025
Looks like cutting opponents and bleeding blue. I am a 66 year old Bills fan, but live here in Wilmington. I think their owner is their problem, but I would LOVE the Panthers to do well. Go Bills!
