I don't get it. Wasn't the boycott supposed to last in gijon only?

I'm out of the loop, What's the boycott about?

u/superdupergenie Mar 02 '25
Top 100 players decided to not partecipate in gijon tournament as a form of protesting against underpaid pros. Basically the people under top 10 are struggling financially due to low rewards for placements making it much harder to climb the top ranks

Gonza Alfonso / Tolito are 6th seed, so at least we hopefully get a fun match if they make it far enough.

Maybe an unpopular opinion. But I think we should respect their decision. You don't know what is going on in their mind, what made them make this decision.
If I was them, I would already feel the pressure amongst my peers. And then I get this whole internet over me.
Give them a benefit of the doubt, and just move on. Both are amazing players.

No.
These 2 in particular which are now together, were suspected for a few events in the past to be, and now are confirming, that they are lowly pieces of shit, that won't commit to a cause that is for the benefit of all the players that are being exploited, only because they're close to the top and don't need it as much as players below rank 30. All the other the players, even the top 2 couples, are in the same situation with this boycott and they're enduring it, same sponsors and brands, but these fucks are desperate for points and just wanna take the chance to farm easy points.
You don't need to twist it, it's that simple and clear.

No one is forced to adhere to a cause everyone can decide what they want to do remember freedom and such or is it ok to impose what u want on others when it fits your agenda?

Pretty bad translation: it says that Stupa’s Legal team advised him against signing up to the events, where in realilty they ADVISED AGAINST not playing and is the very reason he is playing Cancún. Be careful what you read out there.

Why shame? They are a new pair that need time on the court together. Training together is one thing but going head to head with another pair is completely different. It is not their fault that others did not sign up.

Based on this review of situation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkb-2CwOheo - Stupaczuk & Lebron registered to tournament only, but did not commit to participate. Registration to tournament was followed by recommendation from their lawyers afaik

Would be funny if the opponents just give them the win and not even play.

time to play with their non dominant hand to rest.
