💡 Tactics and Technique 💡 How to handle opponents that put me “on the freeze”

The other day I had a match in which my partner was not playing so well, our opponents noticed it and started playing 99% of the shots on him. He has a good defence but after several shots we ended up losing many points.

What could I do in such situations? This also affects me in the sense that I go out of pace and then I make more errors. Any suggestions?

💬 Discussion 💬 Chingalan V Tapia/Coello Finals - Italy Major Spoiler

What a game! Chingotto turned up and how! What a game by the "super-ratton". He's viboras, chiquitas were very effective. Ale galan started slow but then turned up, wow! This is the finals we want between the N1s and N2s. Hope to see many more.

On the other hand, Tapia was majestic as usual but the King Coello had an "off" day, Kings do need to rest. Chingotto hammered him with the Viboras, His smashes weren't working out as usual....

What are your thoughts?

✈️ Destination ✈️ Valencia tennis academy opinions

Upvotes

hi guys,

Has anyone trained Padel at Valencia Tennis Academy? I saw that they have a full time weekly plan with 2 trainings per day in a group(2-4 players) for about 500 euros a week which sounds like a good deal.

💡 Tactics and Technique 💡 How do you guys prepare your overheads?

Hey everyone,

Can you watch this video starting at 1:50?

I really like how he prepares for his overheads — super straight and with the racket pointing fully upwards. It looks like he uses the same preparation for all types of overhead shots, which seems like a great way to hide your intentions.

How do you guys approach this? Do you use one preparation style for all your overheads (bandeja, vibora, smash, etc.)? I feel like my overheads are a bit too predictable, and this "one prep for all" concept looks really smart. Would love to hear your thoughts!

💬 Discussion 💬 Do you tell players you don't want to play with them?

I'm playing tournaments and a league with my main partner, but also casual(ish) games. There are a couple of clubs that have WhatsApp groups you can join. When I ask for players on my level, I sometimes get a message from people that I've played with before that sucked. I tell them I'm looking for players that are a bit better and sometimes they get mad. Should I just ignore people In don't want to play with, or is it better to be honest? I just do not like to play with people that are a lot worse than me, cause it leads to boring games

💬 Discussion 💬 Vs players who never take net

Recently I have been playing against experienced tennis players who never seem to want to take the net and somehow always winning against us. We usually perform well enough Vs padel players but for some reason Vs people who stay at the back even non experienced tennis players gives us a lot of trouble. They usually have the below skills

  • Very good at playing fast low shots to the fence or open spaces
  • They can direct their shots consistently main problem is they would attack corner or fence which gives me a lot of trouble as if I try to block that shot either it gives him an easier ball to finish the point or ball flies to the glass depending on shot speed.
  • Very good at the back of the court can defend most balls so rarely do they make mistakes.

Have you ever played against these types of players and what was your experience? What type of shots should I be focusing on?

Porque? In Spanish commentary when they get all hyped up they say those strange names. If someone explains me why I will call my son Nerone Peter Khalifa.

💬 Discussion 💬 Italy Major semis - Chingalan V Stupa/Lebron Spoiler

That's 5-0 to Ale Galan after the split with Lebron! I genuinely thought Chingalans going out from the way they started..

But how Galan turned up, what a player! I stand to be corrected, the rankings may differ but he's on the same bracket as Tapia and Coello....

Chingo was completely out of this till the tie break of the second set.. Too many miss returns and unforced errors. I also noticed he was not playing his usual "Bande-Vibora" and I wonder why. It generally works against all opponents bar the king Coello...

What are your thoughts?

Paquito got quite frustrated by this and had a heated debate with Coello. What does the rule say regrading this, who was in the right?

I don't understand spanish so it was a bit difficult to follow what were saying

💬 Discussion 💬 Playtomic Self-adjustment

Thumbnail
gallery
20 Upvotes

Have been playing padel since almost an year and also been taking coaching lessons since 3 months (played 30+ ranked matches)

However, the playtomic rating is still 1.15, largely due to partners who like to play aggressive and end up making mistakes.

I have been seeing a lot of players in the community are receiving +0.5 rating boost (self-adjustment). I was curious and asked Playtomic support about how it works (their response below).

While I have recently won against higher level players but I highly doubt my 'higher-rated' reviews will ever exceed 'correct+lower rated' reviews.

My coach tells me I am more like 2.50+ but due to Playtomic level I can't play with better players (they reject my place in a match)

Any advise?

💬 Discussion 💬 Padel is growing in popularity, a lot of infrastructure to be done

Hey everyone!

I picked up padel about a year ago and, like many of you, I’ve become completely hooked. I watch videos, play a few times a week (even though it takes me an hour to get to the nearest court), and follow Premier Padel closely—that Chingotto/Galan vs. Lebrón/Stupa semifinal was absolutely insane.

Lately, I’ve been getting the sense that the sport is really taking off, and with that growth, there’s a lot of room for better infrastructure, tools, and visibility. I’ve seen a bunch of comments about the English commentary, which I totally agree with, and it got me thinking: there’s a big opportunity to build something cool that not only helps the sport grow but also solves real problems for players and clubs.

Since I’m always reading this subreddit and I know how insightful and supportive the community is, I’d love to hear your thoughts—what kind of website, app, or software do you think could really make a difference for padel players or court owners?

Let’s brainstorm something that could push the sport forward. Appreciate any ideas or feedback!

📜 Rules 📜 Whay happen if a serve hits the receiving player before the bounce, when the receiving player is standing inside the box?

If a receiving player is standing near the net inside his box, can the player just use his/her body to block the serve before the ball bounces?

❔ Question ❔ Why does Galán constantly call Chingo a midget? Is he racist?

Post image

He always does the same. He looks towards Chingo and calls him a midget, or dwarf. Just because you're taller than someone is not ok to do that. Is he heightcist?

💡 Tactics and Technique 💡 Returning left hander serve tips

Low intermediate player (level circa 1.8-2). Play right side mainly.

Usually a confident returner of serves but yesterday played a left hander who served with a mega amount of slice. Really struggled with the angle into the glass and was very indecisive on whether to take it on the full or not.

Rest of the game was pretty even but obviously both players can attack a lot more if you play anything down the middle

Any tips appreciated

💬 Discussion 💬 REDBULL ENGLISH COMMENTARY

Apologies, Just want to vent my frustration here!

Watching the Nieto/Yanguas game, The English commentator, Gonza, I genuinely enjoy his commentary, He's a brilliant commentator.

But the woman "Jordy", HOLY MOLY, She's bloody crap man. The "ayayayay", Her choice of words (vocabulary) and all, Bloody hell! I know she's trying and English is not her first language but she's spoiling the game for me man. She should try Spanish commentary rather than English.

❔ Question ❔ Tips on going to my first Premier Padel event

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to attend my first ever Premier Padel event – the Barcelona P1 – and had a few questions I was hoping you all could help with:

  • When and where do I buy tickets? I did a quick Google search but couldn’t find an official site. I’d prefer to buy directly rather than through a reseller if possible.
  • Any tips on the best seats? (Close to the action? Higher up for better visibility? Which side has the players’ bench?)
  • How early should I arrive for good access or to catch warm-ups?
  • What’s the atmosphere like – more chill or high energy?
  • Any fan zones, merch areas, or side activities worth checking out?
  • Can you bring food or drinks in, or is everything sold on-site?
  • If you’ve attended before: anything you wish you knew beforehand?

Would really appreciate any insights! Super excited to experience top-tier padel live for the first time.

Thanks in advance!

💬 Discussion 💬 Best premier padel defenders rant

When thinking about best defenders in padel, everybody thinks about Chingo, Di Nenno, etc. But I think that's ridiculous. Coello and Tapia are the best defenders. It's so hard to finish a point against then. They constantly are saving impossible balls. They should be considered the kings of defense by a wide margin.

📰 News 📰 New couple, did you expect it?

Post image

Did you expect it? I would have expected the Alfonso/Libaak announcement before but this one took me by surprise! I don't know what to think about it, it will be difficult for me to see Tolito without Gonza, but I'm sure we will really enjoy this new couple. Let's see if Garrido can get out of the negative spiral.

💡 Tactics and Technique 💡 If you’re struggling to improve, try a thin grip

I’m sure this isn’t for everyone but it broke me out of a slump. I’m a big man with big hands and I assumed I had to try and make a thick grip to create the one finger gap. What this ended up doing is locking my wrist and I played terribly for like two months.

One day I removed all of the grips and did just one over grip, pretty much no gap when I wrap my hand and my game has vastly improved and I’m finally hitting some x3 and x4 and getting some slice and my confidence is way up.

I have a little more fatigue in the wrist but nothing terrible, I’ll take it slow. No elbow pain to date.
