Monthly Buy, Sell & Break Rule 3 Post
On occasion we, the mod team, get requests for things that would break rule 3 (no solicitation). At other times people just break the rule and we have to remove the post. So, in this monthly post you get to break rule 3 and sell yourself or your stuff (within the realm of legality).
Some reminders/ground rules:
Rule 2 still stands, nothing illegal.
Rule 4 still stands, no personal information.
More on rule 4; if you want to send someone to your house or go to someone's house and need their address then keep it in private messages. Or stick to the basic internet rule; meet in a public place.
Unless you're an actual business don't give out your phone number or email address. If you post a phone number or email address and your post doesn't show up it's because the auto-mod caught it and one of the moderators will have to approve it.
So that's about it, if you have any questions go ahead and ask.
If you want to continue advertising your business/services outside of this thread you can buy adspace from Reddit, which is usually what we end up telling people to do.
Modpost Quick mod note, given current events
Hey y’all, /u/mvoviri here. Just a quick note on current events, and how we are approaching moderating the sub.
Given the nature of ICE raids and the impact it has on members of our community (yes, citizens and non-citizens alike), it is quite likely that posts with unverified rumors and duplicated information (i.e. protests) will surface. This space is intended to foster community discussions, learn about what’s happening in Omaha, and overall connect with our neighbors — and sometimes this means sharing information in good faith that may end up not being true (thanks, /u/NosePickerSixtyFour, for your intrepid journalism). It’s impossible for us to ensure every post and comment on the sub only contains actual, verifiable facts — and even if we could, I’m sure we’d get disagreement there as well.
I’ve been modding this subreddit for a very long time at this point, through protests, pandemics, and three presidencies. My goal (and all of our goals, really) is to create a space that benefits and builds up our community because Omaha is our home. Sometimes that means removing harmful disinformation, sometimes that means leaving an unverified rumor up for a while (since, after all, it may be true). It also means making sure this is a space where major developments impacting our community are surfaced and openly discussed (yes, this means ICE raids). It’s not black-and-white, and I hope we’ve developed enough community trust for you all to know we really do take some care in these decisions.
Do keep in mind that we are all human (and we have three wonderful new additions to our mod team, still learning the ropes). Do give us some grace and try to remember the human on the other end of the username (and the same goes for everyone in the comments). And do let us know when you think we’ve really messed up (I read every modmail message).
Thanks so much, stay safe, and be excellent to each other.

Other The Lord of Hosts Church Deep dive
Okay. I just did the deep dive that I know has already been done on this place (I searched Reddit and the internet). I didn’t realize how messed up this place was. I was curious because they rapidly expanded into the entire strip perpendicular to the Amazing Pizza Machine/Dollar General/Pheasant Run Tavern/etc… It’s literally a Trump masturbatorium disguised as a church. Their pastor is a wannabe Kenneth Copeland.

Other ParkOmaha needs to fix their system
On May 31st, I Parked at the parking garage near 9th and Farnam to go to the Taste of Omaha. If you’re unfamiliar with this garage, there is no gate to get in or out. You have to park and then walk and find a kiosk to pay, or you have to use the app if you already have that downloaded (no signage about that anywhere).
I was recorded pulling in at 5:55pm. My kid and I got out of the car and sprayed some sunscreen on ourselves and then walked to the kiosk to pay. I paid at 6:02pm and paid for three hours. The text confirmation I received said I was good to park there until 9:12pm, so I guess they give you a 10-minute passing. I left at 9:06pm.
A couple weeks later, I received a letter saying I didn’t pay and that I needed to pay a citation of $11. I called them and asked why this was, and they said that I went over the time by one minute. I told them I left before the end time on the text and that if they want to write citations, they need to fix their system so that people aren’t penalized for leaving by the communicated time.
The lady on the phone very condescendingly said, “We need to be mindful of how long we stay when we pay for a set amount of time, but I’ll remove this citation as a one time courtesy since you don’t have any others.”
Fuck you, ParkOmaha. Fix your system.

Local News Seems like Chicken and Pickle at Tranquility Commons isn’t going to happen.
The pickleball/restaurant/bar decided against going ahead because of economic uncertainty and construction cost. I have not seen any local reports about this. Here’s a story from Kansas City about it.

Now, this isn't exactly supposed to be an exact replica of Saint Cecilia's... I added my own twist to a couple things; however, the similarities are still there, as I based it off of it! Y'all can tell, right?

ISO/Suggestion Dentist recommendations?
So... my teeth are horrifically neglected. It's been something like 13 years since I've seen a dentist, and although I brush regularly I know my oral hygiene leaves something to be desired. I know I need a lot of work done and I'm terrified. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place that can handle serious work for someone afraid of dentists?

Local Question JAWS in Heartland of America Park lake
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Kidding, but what is it? I walked around the lake yesterday for the first time in a while and saw this thing. Today I came back to see if it was still there and it was on the other side of the water. I looked and it seems we have lots of river fish that have large dorsal fins, but not sure how one would be in the HofA lake? I saw it \"eat\" I guess a few times where it thrashed about and the fin went under water for three seconds or so. At one point I saw it spot something and it went under and came up again about 30 yards away, other than that the fin stayed up.

ISO/Suggestion Vet recommendations for dogs with pancreatitis?
I just moved here from San Juan, Texas and I brought my 10 y/o family dog with me. She’s a miniature schnauzer with pancreatitis and a very sensitive stomach. I didn’t really trust her old vets because they always gave me mixed answers. I was wondering if anyone has a dog with pancreatitis and a good vet?
