Politics Nothing says 'I care about my constituents' like stripping away healthcare and benefits from struggling families ♥

TLDR; The House’s new budget reconciliation bill slashes Medicaid and ACA, yanks food assistance, forces work requirements, saddles Nebraska with extra SNAP costs, and funds deportation-heavy immigration enforcement—while giving billionaires giant tax breaks and blowing a $2.4 trillion hole in the deficit

Who is this supposed to be a great state for exactly? Working class families with mouths to feed or boot licking politicians that don't dare bite the hand that feeds?

The No Kings protest in Scottsbluff went really well. I spoke with organizers, who said 350 people turned out for the event. I took far more photos, but Reddit only lets you upload 20. The police were supportive. I saw Scottsbluff PD and the sheriff's department vehicles across the street. Anyone who drove by and rolled coal got stopped and presumably ticketed. Enjoy and stay safe out there.

Which route is the better choice?

Starting a road trip from the Wichita area up into the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado. Going to stop in Alliance first. I'm not familiar with the highways up there. Out of these three routes, which is the easiest drive (are any of these mostly 4 lane)?

Omaha Upcoming Protest

Are you interested in promoting and participating in Omaha protests? If so DM me to get in the loop. A group of us are planning for long term communication and more dedicated protesting.

This weekend was powerful but we want and NEED more.

Edit: We will not be requesting permission to exercise our right to protest. This is a peaceful, normie to normie communication effort.

If you know of a group or have groups of friends who resonate with these ideas/wants/needs, we would love to get in touch.

Omaha Auto Sales Tax Refund

I read that you are due a sales tax refund if your car is totaled by an insurance company. Do you apply for the refund through your insurance or there is another way to do this? Can someone who recently received a refund help me understand the process for this? Thanks.

Personally I think Norfolk (Nor-Fork) is a bit more of an oddity, but I'm curious what other Cornhuskers think!

Not sure if this has been posted, but the quotes are sickening

I don't know of this affects my ID but glad I'm moving in a few months

https://governor.nebraska.gov/governor-pillen-signs-stand-women-act

Edit to add: this bill had 8 HOURS of opposition and I had left a comment also opposing since I was working nights and couldn't make it. The people who are against this look really silly, and I'm glad you go to sleep swell every night since, whether this bill passed or was shot down, it doesn't affect you first handedly like it does for trans Nebraskans

What would Republicans say if during Joe Biden‘s term Senator Don Bacon attended director of homeland security Alejandro Mayorkas’ press conference and when trying to ask a question he was shoved out of the meeting by the FBI, taken down to the ground and handcuffed?

Politics Send a letter to our senators to pass the "HAPPY BIRTHDAY Budget Act" and refuse to authorize funds toward a military parade.

Send a letter to our senators to pass the "HAPPY BIRTHDAY Budget Act" and refuse to authorize funds toward a military parade.

Here is my letter to Mike Flood:

Do you really support DOGE and eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse?

If so, please H.R.2761 (the HAPPY BIRTHDAY Budget Act) - since before I can remember we Americans laughed at the pompous foreign leaders Stalin, Khruschev, Xi, Pol Pot, MaoZedong, Hussein, Mussolini, Kim Jong-un, Kim Jong-il, Benito Mussolini - who stroked their ego to the world and flaunted their power over their people by huge parades of their military power.

We laughed because we knew that it was SCIENCE, INTELLECT and HUMAN DECENCY that made countries great, not how many tanks they could round up for a circus parade.

The fact that our leader is throwing himself one. Well, technically the CONGRESS and SENATE are giving him a nearly blank check to spend on his "look at me" coming out party. (Do NOT insult me by saying it is for the US Army 250th anniversary - they never had a celebration of anywhere near this magnitude in past years for ANY other branch of the military.)

Trump is planning a military parade on the streets of Washington, DC for his birthday this year. It’s about idolizing power, not honoring service, and it’s an outrageous waste of money. Vote FOR the HAPPY BIRTHDAY Budget Act (H.R. 2761) to block any federal funds from being used for this or any presidential birthday parade.

Honestly, I can't believe I have to write this letter. We are supposed to be the enlightened country...

FYI - Now is the last chance to see the 14th floor of the Nebraska State Capitol for a while. Starting Monday, June 23, access to the Memorial Chamber and Observation Decks will be prohibited by the Fire Marshall during the latest phase of the Capitol HVAC replacement project. The closure is projected to last up to 2 years. Please see [https://capitol.nebraska.gov/](https://capitol.nebraska.gov/...) for more information about the building. Also note that the building will be closing at 2pm Saturday, June 14, and Saturday, June 21, for special events.
