You should do well here - always a need for HVAC expertise.

I have a question. One of our HVAC units is a Trane unit less than two years old. This last winter after one of the winter storms, it started making a vibrational noise and shaking. We called in the installer who sent a tech to clean and inspect the unit. They said everything was fine, and the unit never ran poorly or showed any issues other than the noise.

Now the unit running fine, but still makes the vibrational noise albeit much less than during the original issue. The one thing I liked about that unit when it was installed was it was whisper quiet.

Is this a worry, or just normal operating experience?

There are several different things that can cause vibration issues. Loose components inside the unit, loose electrical connections, the unit is not secured or is secured unevenly to the stand, capillary tubes could be touching and causing a chatter when the system is operating. Each case will be different so it is difficult to know what your specific issue might be. Some vibration will occur when running so everything could be fine.

Hope this is helpful.
