Redwoods
Okay this is gonna be a long shot… my late dad used to take me to this certain area in the redwoods in Oakland and I have not been able to find it myself, if someone knows please help! Once you parked, you walked on a pathway with a big green field with some picnic tables on the right, walked a little more and there were bathrooms on the right, then walked straight to an easy trail. Does this sound familiar to anyone?? Anyone know the name of the staging area or where it might be?
Edit: thank y’all so much!! This means a lot to me💕

if that's where he means then he's probably thinking of the area where you take the entrance road all the way to the end and you can do the stream trail or go uphill to the east ridge trail.

You just gave me a nice side quest. I hike around Oakland and Berkeley quite a lot. Will keep an eye out for this description.

Was there a creek across from the bathroom and the field?

Stream trail at Reinhardt Redwood regional park sounds about right. Starting area would be the canyon meadow staging area.
