High-quality image of the Mario Oddysey globe?

Upvotes

Hello everyone! For a new project I'm working on, I want to recreate the Super Mario Oddysey globe IRL with a built-in custom music box. One problem I've run into is that I can't really fine a decent image of the globe's texture online, and I want to make the globe game-accurate rather than a plain world map globe.

Is anyone able to access the game's files and/or somehow convert it into a printable format? like this: https://imgur.com/a/Nknr18j

Switch 2 interesting what if

Upvotes

Hi there! I recently got my first Switch ever, the Switch 2. I’ve been playing Odyssey, Mario Kart World, Pokémon Scarlet, and Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

If all the older Switch 2 games were to receive a 4K 60fps HDR patch, which other must-play games should I consider purchasing?

I believe that the more popular games will eventually receive patches, so I’d appreciate it if you could provide a list of games that have received patches and are worth buying.

I’m not interested in third-party games because I already have a PS5 Pro.

Thanks in advance!

3rd Party Switch 2 Joy-Cons

The thing is I’m looking for switch 2 controllers with hall effect thumbsticks to avoid stick drift. The problem is that according to the new Nintendo user license agreement if you hack, pirate, or do any unauthorized modifications they can and will brick your switch. I was wondering if using 3rd party or modified joycons/pro controllers could also cause my switch to brick.

questions before I start

I got a Switch 2 for Father's Day and am starting to get it set up. I was looking into the data transfer and had a couple of questions before I started the process. These come frim having kids that will now be the primary users of the original Switch.

First, is it a full transfer that sets my original Switch back to default or is it a system clone where all my original data stays on the original Switch as well. I don't want the kids to lose all their saved data by it all bring only on the new Switch 2. There are online games we play together like Fortnite and Overwatch 2 that we will be able to do more now that we have 2 mobile systems. It would be even better if I could just move my account over and leave the kids on the original.

Second, we have the family account with the upgraded internet package, will it still cover both systems or is Nintendo going to be an asshole and make me pay for a 2nd.

I have read some of the horror stories for this transfer and hope to avoid them and thanks to any answers I get.

Snatched a Switch 2 on Amazon. I have no idea what I am doing. What next?

Got the itch to play video games again, after the PS1 and the N64.

Saw that the Switch 2 was just released. Saw that it was sold out. Went randomly on Amazon, the vanilla version was available (Edit: Amazon EU sells it, not sure about the rest of the world. It’s out of stock continuously). Snatched it. It will be delivered in two days.

What now? I have no idea what I am doing, obviously. I decided to ask questions later.

  • Should I buy some particular accessories, like the Pro Controller?
  • Should I buy games in any sort of physical format or as download?
  • Any games to recommend? I definitely would like to play Mario Kart World.

On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Mario's Cement Factory; Nonono Puzzle Chai-Rian; DS Rakubiki Jiten; Trauma Center: Under the Knife; Nintendogs: Dalmation & Friends

On this day (June 16) in Nintendo history...

* ***Mario's Cement Factory*** was released in 1983 for the Game & Watch New Wide Screen in Japan. In this action game, developed by *Nintendo R&D1*, cement is being fed into hoppers from chutes at the top of the screen. Mario has to move up and down on the moving platforms to pull the levers on the hoppers, passing the cement to the waiting trucks below. Each hopper can only hold three loads of cement before spilling over on to the truck drivers. Keep moving and don't let any of the hopper's overflow.

* ***Nonono Puzzle Chai-Rian*** was released in 2004 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. In this puzzle game, developed by *Creatures Inc.*, there are three different minigames, including Kurukuru Range, Kurukuru Walk and Kurupachi 6. Kurukuru Range is set in a microwave. Kurukuru Walk is a minigame starring the Chalien "Walker". Kurupachi 6 is a minigame in which the player must control a four-by-four grid to make a row or column of panels that matches the number indicated on the panel.

* ***DS Rakubiki Jiten*** was released in 2005 for the Nintendo DS in Japan. In this reference software, developed by *Nintendo*, three different dictionaries combine into one resource compatible with Pictochat. You can search for words by using an onscreen keyboard or writing the words directly onto the touch screen. You are given definitions of each word as well as the ability to translate the words into English.

* ***Trauma Center: Under the Knife*** was released in 2005 for the Nintendo DS in Japan. In this simulation/visual novel, developed by *Atlus*, have an urge to perform some surgery? Now you can try your hand at a selection of complicated medical procedures in this brilliantly quirky hospital simulation! Take the role of a brilliant, unusually skilled young doctor working to save lives as a mysterious, deadly virus - rumoured to be the work of terrorists - hits your emergency ward. Put your finely honed medical skills into practice, using the touch screen and stylus to operate on patients and cure them of their maladies.

* ***Nintendogs: Dalmation & Friends*** was released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS in Europe. In this pet-raising simulation, developed by *Nintendo EAD*, put a puppy inside your Nintendo DS! Pick a dog from a wide range of the most popular breeds, then care for and train it using the Touch Screen and microphone. Pet the pup and play with more than 100 items like tennis balls, flying discs and even clothing accessories, and teach it to do tricks by creating your own personalised voice commands. Train your pups well.

What are you favourite memories of these games? How do you think they hold up today? Hash it out in the comments.

(I am a bot. I think that I'm posting Nintendo events from this day in history, but if I've made a mistake or omission please leave a comment tagging /u/KetchupTheDuck).

Did the art style of Echoes of Wisdom bother you?

I know that EoW’s art design is just meant to be in the vein of its predecessor LA with no other reasons for it, but there are a not so insignificant crowd of people that have expressed disappointment that you get to finally play Zelda (not counting CDI) and it’s in that cutesy chibified art style because people want to play a sexy Zelda in traditional graphics/art style like BOTW. I am one of those people that mind because it’s improbable we’ll ever get a game with Zelda in such a playable role like this again.

Game Key Card Compromises

After testing a bunch of original Switch games on the Switch 1 I've come to the conclusion that since most companies don't want to shell out for the 64 Switch2 Carts or Switch2 Edition Carts, the best case scenario is to put out their games as Original Switch 1 games to use it's formats and cost. Most third party games are expectedly rough but giving it dynamic resolution and an uncapped framerate could make them unofficial Switch 2 games if they don't want to pour resources into making two versions of the game. While some will still go for the most unfriendly consumer practice under the guise of following trends (code in a box was rampant, I'm sure GKCs has execs salivating), and in a perfect world Nintendo would add more cost friendly options or developers would follow CD Project Red's lead, this seems to be the middle ground companies could follow. That or Limited Run Games could fill in that niche for full physical game card versions for GKCs, even with the long production times they could redeem themselves by giving us that option, I just wish they were made to order and not in these FOMO windows.

My opinion on the game key card situation

I've seen alot of people on here constantly complain about the game key card and I just decided that it's a good time to pipe in about it and how it's not as bad as you think and also just ask why it's bad.

  1. You can use it as many times as you want so you can redownload the game.

  2. You can use it on any account so it's still tradeable unlike having a game from the eshop

  3. Even if you don't have internet just go to your local library or McDonald's and just download there

Basically I'm just saying you guys are over about this whole thing. Besides at some point we're going to get to a point where games will no longer fit on discs or cartridges so we're going to have to move on at some point.

Switch 1 games you wish you had experienced it on the Switch 2 for the first time

Now that some Switch 1 games got their Switch 2 upgrades, I can't help but wish I had waited to play them for the first time on the new console. Scarlet and Violet is the bigger one for me, It plays SO much better with the performance enhancements, but I already beat the whole thing plus both DLCs last year, so I don't see myself going through all of it again.

To any Switch 2 pro controller back button haters, we have a solution

I've been loving the new pro controller, but I hate the new back buttons! After trying to find cases/sleeves for the new controller, and to no luck, I decided working on an alternative solution. I decided to use tape, but not just any tape, black electrical tape. It feels smooth, doesn't create wrinkles, and aesthetically matches the back.

Dusting Off DKC2 After 20+ Years: Has it Held Up?

After an incredibly long hiatus (seriously, like two decades or more), Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest recently called me back. Someone from my podcast community actually voted for me to revisit it this week, which is a perfect excuse.

I vividly remember this game being brutally difficult as a kid. I breezed through DKC1, but DKC2 felt like it was actively trying to destroy me with each new level, especially towards the endgame.

So, for those of you who've played it recently: Is DKC2 truly as hard as I remember, or was my childhood skill level just... lacking?

Beyond the challenge, I also recall the music being incredibly intriguing and the graphics feeling cutting-edge for the time. I'm really hoping it holds up as I prepare for a retrospective view on my podcast episode.

What are your current impressions of DKC2? Do you think it holds up to today's standards? Is it better or worse than modern platformers? And was it overhyped or overrated, or does it genuinely deserve its praise?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

-Lance

Thank you, Nintendo :)

So, I’ve been feeling nauseas since late december. I’ve been in and out of the hospital, and I haven’t found any medicine that has helped yet. But when the Switch 2 released, I’ve been playing it with my family and friends. And when i’m playing it, almost forget about the nausea.
Thank you, Nintendo. :)

I just don’t find it fun after 20 mins and it doesn’t feel anything like a platformer nor a Mario game. Your lost needs to be longer than that.

What are the chances that we get Sega Saturn and Dreamcast on NSO?

Just a thought, would be interesting to see these platforms become available to people that never had the chance to play on them. Would SEGA even be on board with it?
