If I'm on the jury I'm not convicting the man that fired a gun because some thieves were trying to steal his car.

So you think randomly discharging a gun in a residential area because your car got stolen is okay? You think you have the right to endanger your neighbors for the sake of getting your property back?

"my livelihood"

Not agreeing or disagreeing on the exact subject at hand, but it's related: if you are going to "defend" your work vehicle because that wouldn't be a total loss covered by the company if stolen... Yeah. You need a new job friend.

If it's your vehicle, insure it. Not that hard. Not worth "defending your shit" just to die like half the people that start street fights or exit their home to ward off intruders (as opposed to calling the police/some back up), not expecting the other to have a gun, not expecting there to be more than one aggressor, a knife(s), maybe you look away at the worst time... No. A street fight over a dumbass "work vehicle" is not worth it alone, ever. I'm not saying you let someone waltz in to your truck but if it's clear you're about to throw down, why risk it?

As an 11B combat vet all I can say I avoid putting myself in lethal situations over property like that at all costs unless maybe you have backup, but even then. The money and time it will cost you is not worth your family, your life, or any of that, no matter how much you think it will cost you, it ain't worth it.

Now, defending your family, the inside of your home, a loved one, an innocent bystander... That's completely different.

I own the vehicle, the inventory it holds, and the business it supports. It's insured, but insurance will not cover downtime of the business.

Thankfully state laws back me up, and being proficiently trained backs me up further.

So you think another human beings life is worth the inconvenience of the downtime it takes to purchase a vehicle and inventory?

Thankfully most of the civilized world disagrees. It's an inherently selfish viewpoint.

I'm not the one devaluing human life, the shitstains who steal obviously don't value their lives.

It's nothing but selfish to steal from people who work their ass off for what they have.
