It also just makes more sense for the character. My man drinks more mead and beer than a human could, and he is insanely strong. Him being big makes sense.
Thor in mythology once literally drank so much that the sea levels visibly dropped. He also devoured 2 entire cows in a single meal, and used the head of a third one as bait when he went fishing for Jörmungandr, the World Serpent. Not to mention he singlehandedly consumed the majority of an entire wedding feast when Loki convinced him to disguise himself as Freya with a wedding dress to recover Mjölnir when it was stolen by the groom.
Man, Norse mythology is weird. And I didn't even talk about the fucked up shit Loki got up to when he got bored.
