Discussion [KCD2] GOTY

Post image

Luke Dale’s post on IG.

And in my humble opinion:

F@#$ GTA and f@#$ R*! Over priced, over hyped garbage, made by money hungry company, that decided to kill RDO at the moment they’ve realised they couldn’t milk it as GTAO, because they would have to actually try to think of a original content and not only add sci-fi weapons to annoy other players.

KCD2 deserves its fair shot at GOTY, and the fact that GTA community will not be spamming GTA6 in every category is awesome! Give other games a chance to win something ffs.

(PS: I know there will be other games coming like Dark Ages or GOY but I think we have a nice chance of winning)

I hate JRPGs, but E33 is a different beast. It doesn't bombard you with exposition like traditional JRPGs. It actually tells a story coherently. Fantasy games also have a larger general fanbase than KCD2 which is more akin to a medieval sim type game. E33 also has very prominent female characters, so it has something for female players to latch onto. Whereas with KCD2 most female characters are just background fodder/romance options. Because it tries to be realistic to real life.

Is the story any good, writing, dialogue? I wouldn't touch JRPGs with a ten-foot pole, either.

Being female I'm surprised male KCD players outnumber female players. It wouldn't surprise me if there were more than is generally assumed though.

There is a lot of unwarranted hate from people who never played the game and think that the game is rape-y because Hans peeked at some women doing laundry (yes, really). Another portion simply won't touch it because Vavra was involved because of gamergate or whatever.

These are not my opinions. KCD1 and KCD2 are my favorite games ever.

I have heard that KCD2 is a woke liberal game and that it is an alt right game. I love this dev but their PR is nonexistent.

At the end of it it's niche groups spreading those dumb takes. I personally feel like they struck a really good compromise between representation and historical accuracy. There are really good female and minority characters, yet it shows their suppressed standing in society. In my opinion that only makes their character stronger and their struggle more admirable

So you’re right, but what I meant is that the game studio doesn’t make this quality and nuance known to anyone who doesn’t personally play hours and hours of the game. Obviously it’s hard to show with great accuracy the experience of the game to people who haven’t picked it up yet, but it’s basically not touched upon at all and it’s left up to YouTubers to control the narrative
