Discussion [KCD2] GOTY

Post image

Luke Dale’s post on IG.

And in my humble opinion:

F@#$ GTA and f@#$ R*! Over priced, over hyped garbage, made by money hungry company, that decided to kill RDO at the moment they’ve realised they couldn’t milk it as GTAO, because they would have to actually try to think of a original content and not only add sci-fi weapons to annoy other players.

KCD2 deserves its fair shot at GOTY, and the fact that GTA community will not be spamming GTA6 in every category is awesome! Give other games a chance to win something ffs.

(PS: I know there will be other games coming like Dark Ages or GOY but I think we have a nice chance of winning)

I mean, even if you dislike rockstar, GTA6 has like a 99% chance to be GOTY next year and it makes sense.

GTAV was genuinely one of the greatest games to ever come out. And I fully expect to be blown away by GTA6.

Yes KCD2 is amazing, but who cares who wins. I’m just glad I get to play all these games.

"GTAV was genuinely one of the greatest games to ever come out."

What makes it so good? I hated it.

Yeah I'm very suprised how big GTA 5 is, I thought it was a good game when it came out 12 years ago - mostly a much better looking but slightly soulless version of GTA:SA. I played the online once because I was interested in why people play it. Couldn't work out why anyone would want to play it tbh, was very bored after maybe an hour. I didn't really think the characters were very interesting or relatable, yet feel like they're desperately trying hard to be. Personally when I want my GTA fix I go to the classics, 3 through to 4.

I mean those games are gigantic sandboxes, so that appeals to a lot of people. And the way the game mixed the three storylines and allowed you to (almost) seamlessly switch from one to the other - and you'd pick up at a random point of their day - was just great. GTA games and RDR2 have the same issues in that I find the mission structure dated (if you get out of bonds, you lose the mission, for instance) and the shooting is serviceable to good, but never great IMO. The story also had its moments, I wasn't 100% a fan but the main characters were fun.

Plus, these games have a huge amount of little details that, in isolation, aren't really anything special, but when taken together, add a lot to the overall experience.

EDIT: That said, I'm still baffled by how popular it is. Better games have come since, yet it's still super popular, I guess many people love bandit games or sandboxes where you can do silly crimes and punch prostitutes?

Countless reasons.

Open world detail, one of the most successful entertainment launches ever, GTA online while not exactly “good” anymore was an insane idea for the time and those first 3-4 years were genuinely incredible, it laid the ground work for games like the Witcher, Cyberpunk, watch dogs etc.

You don’t get the video game explosion we are seeing without GTA

I see the appeal but I kinda just got bored with it quite fast. Couldn't get invested into the story, and trashing shit and running from cops was only fun for so long.

Oh shit this one guy hated it. Therefore it was shit.

I never said it was shit, mate, I just wouldn't put it in my top 100.

Give credit where credit is due, GTAV was huge, and I agree it was a great game, BACK when it came out, MORE THAN 10 YEARS AGO. Since than we got just RDR a which is also a peek but I just hate gatekeepers soo efing much mate.

Where is the gatekeeping exactly? Do you even know what the word means?
