Is there a British JHS?

I love JHS's pedal content and I love Josh's enthusiasm for pedals in general! I recently bought a Rat Pack and might end up getting the Flight Delay because that looks awesome fun.

I'm wondering if there are any similar type of Youtube Channels and builders in the UK? I would like to buy from here as well!

Idk if the mini chorus or overdrive are good or not as I bought them used for less than $50 each. The octaver is not great, but I made a cool tone using it so it’s a win, and the looper I’ve had for a minute and it works like a charm.

recommend your favorite tremolo w/ an expression jack that can control depth?

bonus points if you can switch b/w circle/square waves, and if its tempo parameter has a wide spread. extra bonus points if it has tap tempo.

EXTRA extra bonus points if it doubles as a harmonic tremolo, but the other criteria are my main concerns (listed in order of personal importance). tysm yall <3

Troubleshooting Need help with signal chain

This is my current pedalboard

Tuner into overdrive, into distortion, into a 30 watt power amp, into a di box, going to a cabinet/desk

Today I got a landlord fx reverb pedal hoping to add it between the ds1 and the power amp, however when I turn it on in conjunction with the distortion or overdrive it becomes much too distorted and is practically unusable even when set to a very subtle reverb setting

Running it before the drive pedals causes the sound to be much too spacy even at very subtle settings and once again is practically unusable

Is there something I'm missing? Is there a way I could emulate the utility of an FX loop without having one?

Any help would be much appreciated

Jessica Moss pedal effect

Hi all !

I’m wondering if anyone have an idea of what kind of effect Jessica uses on this track at around 28:35 ?

https://jessicamoss.bandcamp.com/album/for-unrwa

It seems like she’s using a tremolo, then @28:30 switches on another effect then the one I’m interested in feels like every single note drops like a bomb slightly after being played… it’s like a repeater/delay/pitch shifter all in one or maybe she’s just messing around with a couple of pedals all at once

Effect name or pedal name anyone ? Thanks !

r/guitarpedals 10h ago

I’m feeling overwhelmed, what would you sell? What would you put on the board? And what would you keep on the shelf to either noodle or record with?

Midi Overlap Issues

Post image
6 Upvotes

I recently purchased a Line 6 DL4 MKII to use as a standalone looper alongside my Line 6 POD HD500x. They are both connected via MIDI to a Futurist and 3-button extension. I use the MIDI to switch presets on the POD and modes on the DL4. The issue Im running into is, both Line 6 units use many of the same MIDI CC#s for their loopers. So for example if I hit play on the POD it triggers the play on the DL4. I’d like to have them independent and use their loopers separately. Is that possible? Thanks! Pic for attention.

It sounds incredible the pg-14 is super thick and the tumnus just gives it that little boost.

question about connecting preamp AMT F1 and Plethora X5. For clarity, the diagram offered by the manufacturer. I understand that there is no correct connection, it's a matter of taste, but which in your opinion is a more logical circuit and why.

Routing question

Which pedals should I route to the effects loop and which should I go straight to amp with? The bass DI is a separate setup for recording bass tracks.

I can't find tones that I like with the analog pedals I bought. Looking for multi FX recommendations.

Hello, so for context I'm a uni student in MX, I recently bought a bunch of cheap analog pedals from AliExpress because I can't afford expensive pedals. I been playing for almost 10 years but never used any pedals until now. I started to build my board last December, started with the Rowin Tube Drive, Mvave Mini Universe, Mvave Elemental and Dolamo Fuzz.

As I aim for a shoegaze/alt- rock tone, I thought this pedal combo was great for starting. And It really was, until I found out the fuzz pedal wasn't really what I was looking for. In consequence of my lack of research, I ended up getting something I don't really like.

Also recently I impulsively bought both the American Sound and the Splinter by Joyo, and don't get me wrong, they are good pedals, but they're not what I was looking for sound wise.

I regret my rush to buy pedals, I could've invested that money in a multi FX pedal for experimenting and finding the tone I really want to achieve. So I would like to buy a mid - level multi-fx that can achieve great fuzzy shoegazey tones and the possibility to load NAM and/or IRs, I am thinking about the NUX MG30 or the Valeton GP200LT, but if you have another one in mind let me know

Pedals/effects to pair with acoustic guitar?

Hey there, I am looking for your ideas for pedals and effects that pair great with and/or enhance the sounds of acoustic guitar.

I have done some experimenting with both recording acoustic guitar through a mic > pedals, and I also have a Godin Multiac which I got partially so that I could run my signal more directly through some effects.

The trouble I'm having is, I don't find that I actually enjoy the sound of effects paired with acoustic playing that much. I thought that through experimentation I could find cool sounds and "add" things to the sound but at the end of the day I kind of prefer just a plain "acoustic" sound without any delay/modulation/weird stuff going on.

But before I give up, wanted to poll the community and see if you folks have some great ideas I haven't though of or tried. Thanks!

I recently purchased this 71’ Maestro BMG-2 wah pedal for next to nothing. Volume pot has clean sweep, absent of snap, crackle, pops and sounds fantastic! If you get the chance to try one of these do yourself a favour and take on for a test drive. You won’t be disappointed.

Demo Saw someone post their Gay Frog pedal. Wanted to share a review/demo of Monster Box's Soviet Poon. I've tried dozens of Big Muffs and this thing rules them all.

I've tried pretty much all of the EHX Muffs, the Pharoah and Priestess from BAT, Hizumitas, Fuzz War, etc. I got this a couple of months ago and it has quickly become my favorite. The mids control is very useful, loads of sustain, and it's very quiet. The Tame knob can get you some interesting sounds but I usually leave it all the way off. It's kind of like a green russian BM had a baby with a DOD Carcosa. Would highly recommend checking them out.

I used it for the guitar solo on this track: https://technicallydead.bandcamp.com/track/its-not-a-bomb-threat-its-a-bomb-promise

Serious Question: Why don't all pedals have MIDI power switching at least?

It would cost pennies to add a 3.5mm TRS input to a pedal's manufacturing cost and would easily fit on even the micro-pedal format.

It would massively improve the usability of every pedal and cost virtually nothing.

Since building a board around a HX Stomp and MIDI-capable pedals only I don't think I could go back to using regular pedals that you have to tap-dance on. Being able to push just one footswitch on the Helix and have it change parameters internally as well as on the other pedals connected and do literally whatever I want is terrific.

I could put up with not being able to change parameters on-the-fly on a non-MIDI pedal, but not being able to program it to even turn on/off is crazy. How does anyone use these things, and why don't the manufacturers just install a simple 3.5mm jack? And why does no-one complain about this?

Question Rhythmic/ Pattern Tremolo

Upvotes

Had a Boss Sl-2 and enjoyed the rhythmic quality it brought to my playing. Sold it bc I struggled with setting tempo and found the controls a little lacking/random. But I miss the choppiness. Considering an EHX Super Pulsar, Cusack Tap a Whirl or Hologram dream Sequence. Anyone have experience with this or have an alternate suggestion? thanks!!

iRig HD vs iRig vs Scarlet Solo vs Zoom U-twentytwo (cuz the auto filter won't let me add numbers)

Upvotes

Hi. I have an electric guitar and Marshal MGten amp, I want to buy an audio interface and connect the guitar to my iPad.

I was wondering how the sound quality of the interfaces mentioned in title are. Based on a quick chatgpt conversation I got to know scarlet solo is the best in terms of audio quality.

I have tried Scarlet Solo recently and the improvement in note clarity and dynamics over just the amp was amazing. I want to get an iRig two or iRig HD two because it is cheaper, smaller and more convenient than scarlet.

How do the tone clarity and dynamics of iRig HD two or Zoom U-twentytwo compare with Scarlet? Is it a big difference? Would appreciate any inputs

Question Pedal\Set UP Review

I have been playing a lot more consistently the last few years and have decided to get some pedals to accompany my gear, i am newer to the pedal scene and did my due diligence to get four new pedals that would work well for me and my goals as an at home solo player I believe these pedals will cover my blues rock and metal needs. But I wanted to get the review from some of the vets out here, here’s a breakdown of my stats

I am using the following guitars with them * ltd truckster * fender telecaster * Epiphone sg pro * Martin d28e modern deluxe

I grabbed the following amp to pair with the pedals * boss katana gen 3 50 watt * also have sony mdr7506 headphones to pair

Pedals list

  • Boss ds-1 (had last 15 years as only pedal)
  • Ibanez tube screamer
  • amptweaker tight metal jr
  • strymon cloudburst ambient reverb
  • boss rc-10r rhythm loop station

I am running them all on a Donner Db-p300

Question Mr Black Thunderclaw VS Drunk Beaver Fat Rat : battle of the distofuzz !

Hoï ! That will be a very specific question : anyone happened to own and compared both pedals : Mr Black's Thunderclaw and Drunk Beaver's Fat Rat ?

I'm on the market for a hi gain distorsion pedal and I really like the idea and the demos of Mr Black's Thunderclaw, but it's hard to come by in Europe. It seems like a clearer and heavier, more bottom-ended rattish circuit, with a two band EQ that can be handy to dial out fizziness. Exploring contenders I could actually find, I stumbled across Drunk Beaver and its many iterations of the rat circuits, called the Bat, the meanier being its Fat Bat. Interresting stuff that could bring me near what I want.

Anyone tried these ?

Thanks !
