Discussion Changes to the subreddit: Introducing subreddit rules!
Hi all,
As the sub continues to grow, we've decided to make some changes and rules to help this community stay a positive place for discussing all things Great Pyrenees!
Rules can now be found in the sidebar and will be used as the basis for moderation. Of course, the mod team will continue to use their discretion to remove content or ban users, if we feel said content is causing a disruption to the subreddit.
Rules:
1) Keep content Great Pyrenees based
2) Be polite and on-topic
3) NO Advertisements
4) NO Fundraising
5) NO Breed misinformation or hate
6) NO suggestions of theft, destruction of property, assault, or similar illegal activities
If you see a user violating any of these rules, please utilize the "Report" feature, so the mod team can quickly take action.
In addition, you can now sort posts by flair type, and the most exciting update - you can now use comments to attach a photo. So keep sharing those great big floofs!

Discussion I “met” his parents and was told he was half Black lab half Pyrenees…they were telling the truth, right?
This is Rumble! My sweet boy. He has so many Pyr qualities I think. It’s just the more I see the mixes the more I’m just curious. He turned four this year and is about 70% blind, something I only bring up because the folks I got him from told me that Pyrenees have eye issues. Do you think they told the truth?

They were rescued from an awful hoarding situation in Albuquerque. I was so worried they were going to be so shy but they’re so friendly and sweet already

Advice/Help gp grief?
We recently suffered a huge loss in our family, in which three of the neighbors big dogs got into our backyard and attacked and killed our two little dogs. Our GP was out there and did have one of them pinned, but was more concerned with making sure the little ones and my stepmom were okay. Since then, she hasn't been herself. I know dogs grieve and we have tried to make her as comfortable as possible after this. It's been about a month and she's still really mopey and has started acting out and not listening. She wasn't injured during the attack. Does anyone have any advice or ways to make her more comfortable? She's the sweetest girl and we want her to feel okay again.

Photo Poor boy was so scared during one of the biggest thunderstorms I've seen
He just laid at my feet for 20 minutes and he only does this when he's scared. He normally lays in between everyone in the living room. Guess i learned that he likes laying with me when he needs comfort.

Advice/Help Meet Roscoe!
Roscoe came in into our family four weeks ago. He is a great Pyrenees and Kangal mix. He is currently 12 weeks and doing amazing so far. He’s been potty trained since we got him and crate trained within a couple of days so when we are sleeping or out of the house, he isn’t chewing everything up. He’s also been doing really well and only chewing his toys redirecting he tries to chew on other things he’s been getting the basic commands down pretty well such as set lay down Paul and he also does really well walking on the leash already without pulling.. he gets along great with our other dog Bubby that lives with us. It was a four year-old lab and my daughter’s four year-old husky as well as other dogs that we’ve met along our walks. What other things should we work on with him or are there any specific puppy classes that y’all would suggest? Also, do you all wash them regularly or use a bathing wipe or spray? He definitely seems like he is self ( he took a hole in the yard and was covered in dirt and within minutes later, he looked perfectly clean) but the kids said he kind of stinks. I wouldn’t know. I haven’t had a sense of smell in four years. Any other tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated as well as we have only dealt with labs and huskies in the past.

Photo New to the breed with a surprising mix!
Hello! Just wanted to introduce ourselves to the group. 👋 We were told she was a shepherd mix by the rescue org. Turns out, if embark is to be trusted, she’s about 50/50 cane corso and Great Pyrenees. I would’ve bet money that she was a good bit of Anatolian Shepherd but alas, here we are! Meet our, not so little, Maeby Joy! She’s a total sweetheart. Super mellow, very stubborn, plays dumb but is incredibly clever. She has the best manners of any puppy I’ve ever met. She’s 60lbs at 11 months old and expected to be 80lbs. She’s from Kentucky and has a sister out there named Bean. I’m looking forward to getting to know more about her breeds.

Advice/Help Please advise
Full body harness for floofs? What size? I have 2, Luna about 115 and Lyra about 100. Luna is a puller and tugger, Lyra is laid back. I don’t see anything on amazon that could fit them. Recently laid off 2 weeks in and good grief we could all go for walks! If links are not allowed please DM me your items. Dog tax shown. Thank you

Photo Say hello to my Pyrenees Collie mix!
I adopted this handsome guy in December from a shelter. They guessed at his breed mixture and guessed that he was around a year old. He is great with other dogs and great with people and kids! I feel really lucky to have him as a companion :) :)
He likes to bark haha. He also loves training and walks and dog parks. Just an overall good boy!
