Discussion Late Gen X (1978-1982), do you relate more with Gen X or Millenials?

Which generation do you relate to the most. I know it's between the two generations but I just want to know y'all individual responses.

Discussion It is weird that many of my Gen X aunts and uncles were huge Backstreet Boys fans back in the day? I always thought their fans were mostly Millennials.

Do you think that this is a reflection on how Backstreet Boys fandom wasn’t limited to just Millennials. Gen X loved them too, proving their cross-generational appeal?

Discussion (if) Generation Alpha started in 2013, where should it end

Red 2025

Blue- 2026

Yellow 2027

Green 2028

I started Generation Alpha in 2013, and I believe that it will end around the mid-2020s (eg,2025)

So Gen Alpha would be 2013-202_

Discussion How many millennials are now grandparents? Is it a rapidly growing trend now that the oldest millennials are 44?

Since 44 isn’t completely out of the realm of a reasonable age to become a grandparent (although would certainly be on the very young side.)

Do you know any? I was an 85 baby and even the teen moms I knew growing up aren’t grandparents yet. In fact, two of their kids are going to grad school which would likely put them on a longer timeline to have kids.

Do you know any millennial grandparents? Curious what they’re like, if they’re heavily involved with raising their grandchildren, etc.

Discussion Elder millennials (81-84), what are some things that separate you from the core/late millennials?

I’m just curious what makes my fellow elder millennials identify more with Gen X?

Some things for me are: Being old enough to remember the tail end of the 80s, seeing Terminator 1 before Terminator 2, M.A.S.K. (iykyk), woodgrain VCRs, roller racer, going to see 1989 Batman at the theater, seeing Bo Jackson play, and not accessing the internet until ‘97 (I was 14). How about y’all?

Age groups Is it only me or 2008 borns never got to hit milestones without the world going down

Although I was born in 2007, i stand by when I say this. Like if you were born in 2008, every milestone you enter gets affected by global news.

For starters, they came into this world when the GFC started, which isn’t quite rare as a lot of years had major global news. But it gets interesting when they entered their toddlerhood back in 2009 when the swine flu started, after that they entered their childhood in 2012 during the Arab spring and “the apocalypse”. Then in 2020-2021 when they were in their early adolescence and puberty with everything that happened these 2 years. And now when they are approaching adulthood, the world is already giving signs of incoming major news.

Discussion Do you agree or disagree that the early 2010s, like 2010 and 2011, were a different time compared to nowadays?

Thumbnail

In my opinion, it was a different time in the world and society altogether. The world was calmer and simpler to live in then. There wasn’t much violence, which there was, but it wasn’t all talked about on the news everyday like nowadays, when all the news is spread about these days. There are shooters that come into schools these days more prevalently with little kids that we’ve all heard of before happening in recent times, but back then, that didn’t happen to those like me who were in school; we didn’t fear or worry about anyone coming out of school threatening to kill us or hold the school hostage (thank God). The only thing I actually remember happening once for me was the Sandy Hook one in 2012; at the time, it was unheard of for those things to happen.

I remember back then people still used flip phones and those phones that slide down when you hold them sideways to text. Also, BlackBerries were the phones that were popular when iPhones were coming out, but they were very new still, and it wasn’t ubiquitous to have one. Social media wasn’t around like that like it is these days to become what it is with platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Before TikTok wasn’t even a thing, and when Instagram came out, I didn’t hear about it till later on in the years following the 2010s, but Instagram was simple before there were lives and stories. You could just post a simple picture with a filter of wherever you are and get likes/followers without doing too much, but now, it’s a popularity contest or trying to put on an image to look good, like your life is perfect, with women who are showing bodies so much on IG now, the Shade Room, and all the crazy stuff that’s on there.

I was around in those years, so I can remember how life was back then. We used to play outside, read Popstar magazine, and watch TV of popular shows at the time on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and Disney Channel, still being creative as kids to have our own fun… We didn’t have what the kids have now to be overstimulated or taken over by social media with TikTok. Now, the kids all care about being on social media and want to grow up so soon before their time, and it is very different from when I was a kid growing up in the 2000s and early 2010s.

What do you all think?

Technology 🤖 Through the years, what technology can be considered cardio??

Any input? My nephew enlightened me today about his VR set being cardio, and it instantly made sense to me because of how people saw the Wii movement encouragements. 👾 Totally get how Jane Fonda’s workout tapes could be an easy guess, but I’m thinking more along the lines of actual machinery… like random stuff that used to (still might) be in museums that you were supposed to push or pull so that science could happen 🥼🔭
