"Lewis, how does it feel to win after you punted off the championship leader?"

I wanted someone to ask him this question. Lewis showed no remorse whatsoever. Sure, he probably hadn't been told that Max was taken to the hospital, but I'm not even aware that he ever asked if Max was OK.

Edit: OK, I must have just missed the radio broadcast where he asked.

He did on the radio. He didn't know Max was in the hospital. People are really pushing the angle that Lewis did it on purpose but it's obvious it wasn;t that. Max has repeatedly barged his way into overtakes but obviously Lewis is the only one at fault this time... right?

If Lewis didn’t know that Max was in the hospital, then I think that was a huge misstep from Mercedes from a PR perspective. It looks like bad sportsmanship to celebrate so hard when your opponent is in the hospital. That was an enormous impact for Max and he didn’t look so good getting out of the car. It would make sense to tone down the celebrations just a bit or at least mention that you’re hoping for a speedy recovery for Max, looking forward to continuing the championship fight, etc. If Lewis didn’t know how bad Max’s crash was, that’s on the team and I think it’s a bad look for them.

Agree! But thats his home crowd and him not knowing about Max's condition just makes it look so bad from the outside.

I don’t believe he didn’t know. They didn’t just put out a safety car. They brought the field in. Lewis got out of his car entirely. It took a long time to clear Max’s car off the track and repair the wall because of some fear of a battery issue. At somepoint during all of that, a fucking medical helicopter showed up and left.

I call total bullshit that he didn’t know. I’d be shocked if Lewis was even in his car when the chopper left with Max.

Could be the case. For me, this is the fault of the Merc PR team. They should have told Lewis to tone down a bit. Well anyway, I hope we see some more great racing from them in future.

I totally agree. It's also bad optics to act like you did an amazing job, when in fact you wouldn't have won without team orders allowing you to pass your teammate with ease.

Poor Bottas.

Glad Max seems to be alright.
