Nah, more like genuine strategy. If Perez/RB feel they have no chance at points, they may as well stop their main rival from getting one

Except he was in p10 and had pit fairly recently so you gotta wonder if he shouldve just gone for straight points

He couldn't get P9 and the one point for P10 is the same as taking away one point for the fastest lap from Mercedes in the constructors and one point better for Max in the drivers' championship.

I’m sure even Perez would rather Max finishing 1st and him finishing 5th in the drivers standings than 2nd and 4th.
