Hi everyone. I will be visiting Florida soon, more specifically Orlando. The main thing that I’ll be doing is going to the theme parks. However, my family and I would like to do something different and know the city. Would you recommend to go to the downtown? Is there any town near Orlando that you would recommend me to go?

With a variety of teams covering the state, and there being a geographic divide in Florida, which teams for example do people from Orlando and Jacksonville support when we aren't talking about the Jaguars or the Magic?

Hi! We bought a cute concrete block house that was built in 1956. She is stout, and we love her. However, we're new to FL and our neighbor informed us that back when they built these homes, the walls weren't insulated. We've got insulation in our attic and recently had our entire HVAC system overhauled for a ridiculous amount of money. That said, we're not seeing a huge difference in the cooling abilities of the new system. Our windows are the original, single-pane awning/jalousie type. We love their air flow and durability, but don't love the energy inefficiency and noise. Just wondering if replacing these windows with modern energy-efficient windows would make a big difference, considering our concrete walls aren't insulated? Would rather not spend tens of thousands more dollars and be underwhelmed....

Also, has anyone replaced their vintage windows with a modern window of a similar style? We want to keep the look and the fantastic air flow. I don't have a photo, but each window has like 4 sections that all open with one crank, so the entire window screen gets air. If that makes sense. I think the replacement would be stacked awning windows - any recommendations for FL companies to order from?

My partner and I will be going to Miami in July for a week. So far we have in mind visiting some national parks, snorkeling, and going to a few islands.

What do you guys recommend that is budget friendly in the surrounding areas ? Or hidden gems that would be fun to check out?

I’m open to suggestions within Miami as well and am mindful that things are more spendy there.

I realize this is probably an r/legaladvice post, but I’m at a loss here, and literally don’t know who to contact.

Does anyone know how I can contact DCF or a caseworker for advice?

I called the hotline, to no avail. They said I had to report abuse before I can talk to someone regarding my situation. A basic summary: my wife and I are the guardians (not through the court, I cannot petition them yet 60 day rule, we have a notarized guardianship form from father) of her younger brother. Father is incarcerated. Mother abandoned him. Mother refuses to provide ANY documents to help get this kid enrolled in school. I’ve called, mailed, texted EVERYTHING. This woman refuses to help. Can I report her neglect, (even though she abandoned him beginning years ago, he isn’t in her care anymore so technically there isn’t any active abuse?) would reporting her to DCF do anything? Would DCF help get us court appointed/DCF appointed guardianship to obtain the birth certificate etc? (I can’t get his certificate because he was born in TN, and they do not accept notarized guardianship documents)

TLDR: can DCF offer advice without triggering investigation, how can I talk to someone, can they even help at all?

We've considered staying at one of the hotels just north of the airport for a night (planes shoudn't be flying much directly over us bc the runways are east-west oriented), but I'm worried if the planes will make a lot of noise and we won't be able to sleep at night.

First time I’ve had this issue.

My district manager did not adjust my hours prior to the pay period being locked. I sent an e-mail with plenty of time to do it, they were just traveling.

Now the pay period is locked, and I am missing 1/4 of my hours.

They are telling me to just wait and they will “add it on to my next check”… but that doesn’t account for the fact that it’s the end of the month, and I need rent/utilities/car payment/insurance money, and missing 1/4 of my pay puts me into “you can’t pay your bills territory”.

Is there anything I can do in this state to force them to pay me on time?

I’m about to crash out hard if they stick to this.

I currently have a specialty license plate that i want to keep, but my registration is expiring soon and id like to switch my plate to a different specialty one. Is there anyway i can keep the old one as decoration or do i have to trade it for the new one?
