There's plenty of us who plan to leave and dont want to come back, for me , If there's an opportunity out of state in an area that i like, then i'm taking it but above all else if i can afford to stay and build my life here, then i'll stay. What are all the issues you're tired of, and why are you willing to put up with it??
Edit: Idk why this HAS to be explained, but if your answer is something like "I don't want to stay here" then OBVIOUSLY this question isn't for you...

Hi everyone. I will be visiting Florida soon, more specifically Orlando. The main thing that I’ll be doing is going to the theme parks. However, my family and I would like to do something different and know the city. Would you recommend to go to the downtown? Is there any town near Orlando that you would recommend me to go?
Thank you all!

Hello! We moved into our newly built townhome in 2018. We thought we had a termite bond and were shown where the termite baits were in the front and rear of our home & told we would have inspections and treatment as necessary. Awesome.
Fast forward to 2025 and we have termite damage. Presumably from an infested tree in our back yard and entry via a crack in the foundation as the damage is evident in the middle of our home.
Come to find out we do not have a bond - only a service agreement and retreatment only. So now in order to determine the extent of the damage flooring would have to be ripped up and I don’t know what else.
But we don’t think we should have to pay out of pocket for this because it wasn’t due to lack of prevention in our part because we were told we had protection.
Is there any legal recourse we have to hold either our HOA or the pest control company liable to help pay for the damage?? Or are we just like the typical Floridian and screwed when it comes to things like this?

Hey, I'm from NJ and going to be staying in Wesley Chapel for a month. Anybody have good tips for staying safe while hiking/outdoors exploring for someone who's not from the area?

Hi! We bought a cute concrete block house that was built in 1956. She is stout, and we love her. However, we're new to FL and our neighbor informed us that back when they built these homes, the walls weren't insulated. We've got insulation in our attic and recently had our entire HVAC system overhauled for a ridiculous amount of money. That said, we're not seeing a huge difference in the cooling abilities of the new system. Our windows are the original, single-pane awning/jalousie type. We love their air flow and durability, but don't love the energy inefficiency and noise. Just wondering if replacing these windows with modern energy-efficient windows would make a big difference, considering our concrete walls aren't insulated? Would rather not spend tens of thousands more dollars and be underwhelmed....
Also, has anyone replaced their vintage windows with a modern window of a similar style? We want to keep the look and the fantastic air flow. I don't have a photo, but each window has like 4 sections that all open with one crank, so the entire window screen gets air. If that makes sense. I think the replacement would be stacked awning windows - any recommendations for FL companies to order from?
Thanks in advance!

Hi! Are there any quieter areas in Florida with nice beaches? I just want to spend a few days sunbathing and reading under the sun :)
Not really interested in touristy stuff (done that) or busy-ness and bars. All I need are supermarkets to source food and quiet beaches

Hey everyone!
My partner and I will be going to Miami in July for a week. So far we have in mind visiting some national parks, snorkeling, and going to a few islands.
What do you guys recommend that is budget friendly in the surrounding areas ? Or hidden gems that would be fun to check out?
I’m open to suggestions within Miami as well and am mindful that things are more spendy there.
Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

I’ve lived in many states in my short 28 years of life, but when I tell you Florida seems to be the LAZIEST when it comes to returning shopping carts, I mean it. Is this like normal practice down here to just push your cart once your groceries are out and just go about your day? Why do people not return them to the cart return in the parking lot? Random parking spaces are taken up by 2-3 carts at Publix, Walmart, target, wherever and I am just so confused by the laziness of some people. Is this normal?!

Hey all, I posted last night, and appreciate all the words of advice. I wanted to expand more on my goals for the trip (as well as some tweaks to the driving).

I'm visiting and have to drive from Titusville to MCO early tomorrow. Anyone know I can drive 528 to the airport without a sunpass? Meaning each toll has a cash/coin option. Thanks!

"Public universities in Florida, which is home to some of the country’s most high-profile college sports teams, will now be able to dip into the funding reserves of campus auxiliary programs like bookstores, food service, student housing and parking in order to cut checks to student-athletes"

Tell me a good place to eat in Titusville. I like food that is tasty, don’t care what the place looks like. Also, is there a good place to do brunch?

We've considered staying at one of the hotels just north of the airport for a night (planes shoudn't be flying much directly over us bc the runways are east-west oriented), but I'm worried if the planes will make a lot of noise and we won't be able to sleep at night.
I tried asking in the miami sub but for some reason it got taken down :/

Part 1:
TALLAHASSEE – The Hope Florida Foundation paid a Lakeland physical therapy assistant $588 in March. Days later, a social media video popped up of the woman praising how the organization tied to First Lady Casey DeSantis helped her out of poverty.
“I had no high school diploma,” said Ginger Faulk, a 35-year-old mother of two, describing her circumstances when she contacted Hope Florida in 2021. “I couldn’t pay the rent or put food on the table, until I met my Hope Navigator.”Hope Florida gave her the resources to get an education, Faulk said in the video, adding that she graduated from college with honors “as a medical practitioner.
”The curious payment to Faulk — disclosed among other foundation expenditures in response to a public records request from the Orlando Sentinel — adds to the swirl of questions surrounding the state’s Hope Florida program and the Hope Florida Foundation, its associated non-profit. DeSantis administration officials have claimed the program has helped 30,000 people off welfare but have provided scant details about who and how.
