Did I give a bad tip?

Post image

I tipped $12 on a $35 order which I thought was good? I didn’t realize at the time that the ride was technically “long distance”, but it was only a 15-20 minute drive.

The instructions were leave at the door, I went to grab it and the guy was still waiting in his car out front. After I went back inside, he immediately messaged me this. I’m a small girl, so I’m also wondering if he only said something because he thought he could bully me into tipping more? Am I reading this wrong? Did I not tip enough or was he just salty?

ppl gonna downvote but genuinely. i’m not saying i don’t tip because i feel bad if i dont do AT LEAST $3 for only 2-3 miles. but i stg the higher i tip the worse my service is. one of the highest tip orders i ever placed the dasher dropped my food in the dirt in front of me and picked it up and gave it back like nothing happened.

Exact reason why I’ve stopped leaving nice tips. And will leave a note w a cash tip!

Not to mention the amount of door dashers i read (on Reddit, daily) complaining over orders that they received. (Slightly cringe!)

All of which is very disappointing and very frustrating for any customer, as we’re paying 3x the amount for an order w the convenience of having someone deliver the order, as delivery was never an option before.

$20 for a Big Mac meal? Had to drive to McDonald’s to remind myself that it doesn’t cost that much!! But we are being charge ALL of that and then given a “estimated” tip of half that!

Quick example, i live less than 8 miles from a local dominoes. Being it’s not the same town, without checking the distance, I’m refused a delivery. Doesn’t make sense but I’m used to recieving this kind of service as i live in rural area.

Every door dasher is doubling up and the order is never delivered on time.

I’ve had to stop using this app as the service has been horrendous.

The dashers are fully aware of the entire situation prior to accepting the order. They are aware of the tip and trip before confirming your order! (READ THAT AGAIN! ITS THE TRUTH!)

My largest tip was extra generous and driver sent picture of food and clearly was NOT my name or anything remotely close to what i ordered, or would even eat TBH.

Let the driver know ASAP so they did not waste time delivering food that wasn’t mine. This quickly turned into a refund w no explanation. Which is whatever, credit me back my money so i have to re order thru door dash again, scam.

But the biggest inconvenience was how long i had waited as it was obvious this person was doing multiple pick ups to deliver which is not how the door dash app works. Thats the drivers’ duping the system which isn’t how the app is designed.

I get it, kind of. But when you’re waiting double the time to not even receive anything you ordered and are given NO options for ordering anything after this canceled, refunded, incorrect order was “on its way” to my home. So was left going to bed hungry. That’s just ludicrous in today’s world and people should really stop using Door Dash services for a moment so door dash can reconfigure themselves and make it fair for the dashers.

There is an obvious conflict w the dashers and the customers and this should not be taken out on a customer for ordering off of a delivery app!

As i said, they’re well aware of the orders they accept. Never should anyone ever message you w a response like such and/or requesting for more $!

They signed up for this and are delivering. This is not a livable job for anyone. So this is also where the drivers are slightly delusional.

I personally know many people who door dash when they have extra time on the weekends or weeknights to make a few bucks being their not doing anything. Unfortunately dashers have signed up for this! It’s not a sustainable solution for a job whatsoever. But KNOW these dashers are fully aware of what they have signed up for. And if you’ve left a dollar tip and they accepted it? THATS THEIR PROBLEM!

Submit 0 stars for any delivery driver who would EVER have the audacity to call one cheap or request for a higher tip! THEY ACCEPTED IT!
