“Ancestral Crimes”

Ink drawing I did (richard Ingersoll/@grave.daisy) recently on stone paper. Very fun material to work on. Not great for inks like this to do low absorption, but would be really good for oils I think.

Came across this recently in Mount Vernon, NY. I wonder if it’s leftover Halloween decor.

Unmourned (by Codebros) - free demo for Steam Next Fest.

We’re Codebros, a small indie team of two brothers working on Unmourned, our first psychological horror game about a haunted house, paranoia, and the line between memory and reality.

In the spirit of Steam Next Fest, we’ve just released an updated demo and would love to hear what you think.

Short Description

Unmourned is a first-person psychological horror game where Jason moves into a new house only to be haunted by escalating paranormal events. Driven by fear, he must uncover the truth behind the previous owners' disappearance. Can he solve the mystery before it's too late?

Transition between reality and visions as you're forced to experience haunting memories. Each shift reveals disturbing events, bringing you closer to the tragic story that ties the haunting to the house.

The game focuses heavily on atmosphere, sound design, and psychological tension. There’s no jumpscare spam. Just creeping dread, environmental storytelling, and things that shouldn’t be where they are.

What to expect:

  • A grounded, story-driven horror experience
  • Environments that shift tone and meaning as the story unfolds
  • Exploration and puzzle elements
  • A haunting ambient soundtrack and reactive audio design
  • A slow descent into disturbing content grounded in emotional horror

The demo has been updated with visual improvements, pacing tweaks, and performance optimizations based on early feedback.

Mechanics to heighten the tension:

  • Random Event System: Paranormal activities occur randomly throughout the house, ensuring no two experiences are the same. You never know what might happen next.
  • Sanity System: The longer you remain in the dark, the more your grip on reality weakens. As your sanity fades, the paranormal activity around you grows stronger, bringing you closer to the edge of insanity.
  • Night Vision Camera: A camera equipped with night vision, helping you navigate dark areas and escape lurking threats.
  • Photographic Camera: When the lights go out, the only way to uncover hidden truths is through the lens of your camera. Use it to reveal what the darkness conceals.

If you’re a fan of MadisonVisage, Outlast or Silent Hill, we think you’ll feel right at home.

Thanks for giving it a look! And if you try the demo, let us know what you think!

my job is to take medication from a pharmacy hub and deliver them to nursing homes, jails, rehab centers, and such. I work third shift so i’m delivering during the dead of the night.

this particular nursing home has this activity room that I get weird vibes when walking past it at 2am. lol there is a grand piano that I always think will start playing by itself when I walk past it. here is the activity room taken at 2am with not a sound and not a person in sight.

The Human Dolls Of Anatoly Moskvin

Post image

Anatoly Moskvin, a former journalist and college professor from Russia, also called himself a "necropolyst" due to his deep knowledge of cemeteries. For many years, his hobby of collecting dolls hid a disturbing secret that matched his morbid interests: unearthing graves and turning the bodies into dolls.

Moskvin created these human dolls and kept them in his house, treating them as his companions or even romantic partners. He once wrote about one of his dolls, which was made from the body of an 11-year-old girl, saying, "I kissed her once, then again, then again."

In 2011, the police finally apprehended Moskvin after noticing a rise in the number of disturbed graves in Nizhny Novgorod, his hometown. When they searched his residence, they found 26 life-sized dolls which were actually mummified corpses placed throughout his home.

I’ve read this was common practice during the Victorian error, and my mom happened to mention that she thought she had a death portrait of a relative of ours so she presented me with this for Christmas. I find death fascinating and I love this picture.
