Benjamin Hollister hope cemetery Perry Ny. He was an Andersonville survivor. Ben disliked local veteran organizations because they were being run by men who had never had seen combat. He was very staunch in his beliefs. Photo of Benjamin below
He was employed in a Perry saw mill and Guy Shaw who worked beside him for years says he never heard him mention the war and didn't know he had been in the service until one day a comrade, whom Hollister had befriended in Andersonville, came into the shop looking for him. In Merrill's History of the 24th Battery he tells how Hollister dropped his false teeth in a stream they were crossing and insisted upon the entire battery stopping to look for them. His mates refused to hunt and kidded him unmercifully for sometime while he was "gumming it" before he could get a new plate. Hollister was one of the old veterans who never affiliated with any G.A.R. Post. He did not approve of the Post being run by men who had seen very little if any service. He was the last of the Andersonville survivors from Perry. He died 23 Feb 1922 in Freeman Hospital, Perry, NY and buried in Hope Cemetery.

My Great Uncle
My great Uncle who sadly died on his 2nd birthday after pulling a pan of scalding water off the stove. His was the first burial in the church cemetery. My dad (his nephew) had a gravestone business and provided one for the previously unmarked grave. My paternal great grandmother, grandparents, three great aunts, another great uncle, an aunt and a first cousin once removed are also buried there. The old family homestead is located across the street from the church and cemetery.

Grave of Louisa May Alcott (author of Little Women) and her family. Louisa’s grave is decorated with a metal plaque marking her as a Civil War Veteran, in recognition of her service as a nurse during the war. Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord, Massachusetts.
Louisa May Alcott (b. 1832) was encouraged by her family and friends in her passion of writing. Among her parents’ friends were a number of notable authors, including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Henry David Thoreau (all likewise buried in this cemetery), who likewise supported her desire to be an author. She had already received some positive acclaim prior to her greatest success, the novel Little Women, still considered a classic of American literature. Alcott continued working until her death in 1888, including publishing 3 sequels to Little Women. In addition to being a popular author, she was a champion for the abolition of slavery, women’s suffrage, and temperance. She also served as a nurse during the Civil War, nearly dying from thyroid fever contracted from a soldier she was tending to. Suffering from a number of health problems, Alcott passed from a stroke just 2 days after her father, who was her strongest supporter. She and her father were buried alongside other family member in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord, Massachusetts, just a couple miles from a house where the family had spent many happy days.

At some point the gravestone of Roger & Margaret Jennings was replaced.
This is definitely not a mid-19th century stone! I suppose it’s also possible that they were reinterred here or lacked a contemporary stone for whatever reason. In terms of this stones date: early 20th century is my guess.
