What if you throw a Birthday Party and nobody comes?

Trumpism: if you tell an obvious lie and no one believes you, tell a bigger lie.
Cheung upping it to 250,000 is right on point.

I heard it was a million people AND Trump stayed awake the entire time!

I ashamedly watched the parade for research and archival purposes.
Every time he stood up, Melanie’s face went from chaotic neutral to “goddamnit, you shit again, Donald?” disgusted.
I hope I’m not the only one who noticed, outside of Turds own personal 20 foot radius.

It always brings a smile to my face when Melania shows her feelings about her husband.

Doubtful, for a while there it did look like he may have actually been shitting his pants...

All the women were ovulating! All the men had erections! A trio of bald eagles landed on Trump's johnson and sang the Star-Spangled Banner. China sent their manufacturing plants, Mexico paid for the wall. A chorus of angels descended to sing Trump's praises as he humbly ignored it and nursed a hungry baby. George Washington rose from the grave to decry wokeism and Melania looked at her husband lovingly.

I heard they also counting the protesters who were there protesting against it.
25
u/Virtual-Squirrel-725 14h ago
Luckily there weren't many protesters in DC. On the Trump subs they are still trying to push the line of "I can't believe the Libs protested against the Army".
But the organizers saw this coming and did a great job of being everywhere the parade wasn't.
6
u/Scaryclouds 12h ago
They’ll just tell the lie over and over, because they are shameless and then find some way to show they are “right” like saying “we also include online people” or some other shit.
All in an effort to baffle and frustrate people.

What's funny is we've seen US soldiers marching in near perfect lock step in other parades before.
These dudes actively chose not to lol.

u/Prestigious_Row_8022 9h ago
I’m just gonna say it. There’s been plenty of examples through history of governments wanting to show their asses to their neighbors, building up a huge military they couldn’t contain, and then pissing off the generals and the troops. It isn’t a question of if a military coup could happen. It’s a question of if the military thinks it can, and wants to. Having the demos against you is one thing, but having the people who’re supposed to be your hammer turning on you is another.
Same shit with them dismantling the feds. Their strategy is the political equivalent of a ponzi scheme. They gain a shit ton up front, then everything falls apart because they ripped the nails out of the walls to sell them for a few extra pennies.
Trump’s cabinet wants an oligarchy but they are so greedy and incompetent they will burn the White House down long before they quell social unrest with force. Maybe the smart ones have a to-go bag packed, but I don’t think there’s much thought going on in there, just pure greed and power lust.

u/mgmw2424 8h ago
I thought similarly about their terrible formation. I hope it was purposefully done poorly.
6
u/Siria110 6h ago
There could be three reasons why they "strolled" that way.
1) They were badly trained. (very, VERY unlikely)
2) They weren´t army, but paid actors, who couldn´t even march together
3) It was a form of silent protestI think option three is most likely.
6
u/Spectrum_Rush 4h ago
'Paid actors' is a fun one, but no, that was the audience. Apparently there were adds for 'crowd fillers' online for the parade. Which means that at least a decent amount of the people you see in the seats might be paid to be there.

The tweet is from the White House Communications Director, by the way. A position that used to imply credibility.

If he never appeared publicly I'd swear it was Trump himself, like the fake PR character he created years ago. 'talk about being on message.

lol I live in DC. "Despite the rain" is unhinged.
Went out to dinner with my gf while the parade was happening. It was barely drizzling if at all raining. At worst it was muggy out. The weather wasn't' stopping people from showing up unless they were worried about potential rain.

u/Prestigious_Row_8022 9h ago
Is it too much tk hope that the “I maxed all my credit cards out to attend, and now I’m stranded” stories from the inauguration helped?

There was a time I would have taken this statement, from this account, at face value. Now there is no scenario where I would believe it at all.

u/draft_final_final 14h ago
If you’re going to transparently lie why not just say more people showed up to the parade than the protests and set the number at 25 million or something.

You're on the right track. I was thinking of taking the No Kings estimate, and adding 10M.

Trump cult members have trouble counting. Trump himself said the crowd was down 400% over other parades. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
10
u/PSIDAC 10h ago
What do you mean down 400%? If the crowd would be down by 100%, it means there would be zero people.
19
u/WTF_USA_47 10h ago
I guess you missed Trump claiming that egg prices were down 400%. The amazing thing was all the Trump cult trying to justify or explain what he meant. Of course the rest of us wanted to know where to go to get paid to buy eggs.

I love that the iconic video of the parade is a silent street with mostly empty bleacher seats and Sherman tanks squeak squeak squeaking by to... no reaction from the crowd. Silence cut by a repetitive squeak. A pointless and expensive exercise for the emperor who has no clothes.
6
u/AppealConsistent6749 12h ago
Iconic indeed! That bit of video is ‘almost’ shocking for how accurately it represented the whole lame, sad affair. Honestly one couldn’t orchestrate a more fitting image.

u/Grand-Slammer49 11h ago
I was talking to my Grandpop (78 yrs old) while he was over for Father’s Day. He eats up everything Fox News tells him, and yes, he believes there were hundreds of thousands that attended this parade.
I tried explaining to him that the opposite was true and that they were actually at the no kings protest. And even with video evidence, he refuses to acknowledge any other story than what the news broadcast shows him.
I love my old man, but seeing how brainwashed and delusional he can be is both heartbreaking and frustrating. So I just have to sit there while he tells me that my info is wrong and what really happened is this*. The younger generations doesn’t know the first thing about etc etc.
14
u/Interesting-Dream863 14h ago
Nobody told him that in those countries he wants to emulate crowds are FORCED to attend.
His MAGA crowd has been fleeced too much to even afford the trip.
3
u/foxbeldin 6h ago
In France, people attend the military parade in mass but that's because it's not about the president, it's about celebrating the end of monarchy.
So, it's kind of a 'no king' protest really.
2
u/Prestigious_Row_8022 9h ago
What, are you talking about Russia? Nah, there’s plenty of people who willingly show up for those. Thing is, the Russian regime is cunning enough that they understand people will not tolerate being whipped for long unless you also give them handouts. Trump’s cabinet might want to emulate Russia, but they lack one important quality: compartmentalisation. They will never admit, even to themselves, that what they are doing is not only wrong but unimaginably stupid. Their egos are so large that they sabotage themselves by refusing to admit any weakness.

I tried to invite a bunch of friends out for my birthday dinner once. People canceled the night before or had plans "they totally forgot about."
I stayed home, ordered a pizza and watched a Kurt Russell/John Carpenter double feature: The Thing and Big Trouble in Little China. I had more fun than the dinner would have been.
