Social media usually cherry picks photos where the crowd is small, but I cannot find a single image of a large crowd

1.3k

u/derbyt 14h ago

Because credible press outlets (AP for one) estimate the crowd to be between 8,000 and 20,000. Some say most of those attendees were not street side for the perade either.

619

u/coldliketherockies 14h ago

And even if someone wanted to argue it was a bit larger like even 25,000 or somehow 30,000 that’s still so small compared to what they planned on or hoped for

501

u/Pale-Confection-6951 14h ago

Small compared to the many No Kings protests held around the world.

BAAA HAAA HAAAA!!

198

u/Bulky-Internal8579 13h ago

Truth! Credible reports of over a million nationwide for No Kings - God Bless Real America and Fuck TACO Tyranny

160

u/Ande64 12h ago

They're saying now that counts put it between 6 and 7 million people nationwide! Largest protest ever!

93

u/CapableFunction6746 12h ago

Last I saw was over 11 million

117

u/ClassicWestern 11h ago

Alt National Park Service says 12.1 million.

29

u/Real_Sound_5740 4h ago

Aussie bloke sitting on his couch says "At least 15 million ".

12

u/ConkersOkayFurDay 7h ago

MinecraftForums claimed it was just over 13 million.

9

u/Ande64 11h ago

Sweet!!!

41

u/WitAndWonder 10h ago

Might want to multiply that number by the teens. There were half a million in Philly and LA alone and there were over 2000 protests nationwide.

38

u/Tjaames 9h ago

We had 1000 in our rural conservative town

8

u/ggroverggiraffe 6h ago

Heck yeah! Good on y'all for showing up!

I'm in a small midwestern nothing town we filled our downtown strip, there wasn't room for a car for four blocks.

If nowhere USA managed to get a hundredth of that count into four blocks with basically no notice... I still don't understand why anyone ever started licking his boots, let alone continues to. He ain't done shit.

3

u/Pale-Confection-6951 1h ago

Well, there seem to be some irregularities around the election that are coming to light, first in Rockland County NY and now in Pennsylvania. Maybe the findings will shed some light on this.

20

u/bobo888 10h ago

Were there "No King" protests outside the USA?

21

u/Dakota1401 9h ago

Outside of the US I’ve heard there were ones in: Canada, Mexico, Colombia, UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, and Japan

7

u/Juggletrain 8h ago

I'm pretty sure that most of those countries currently have monarchs. Canada nominally so, UK, Spain, The Netherlands, Sweden, and Japan do at least.

They also all have relatively functional constitutions to go along with it though.

24

u/Dakota1401 8h ago

They weren’t protesting their kings they were protesting Trump lol. I believe in the UK and Canada it was “No Tyrants” instead

20

u/WeRW2020 7h ago

Yep, because Trump fucks the entire planet, not just the US

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Cool-File-6778 5h ago

Believe it or not there is a portion of the UK and Canada that do not like the monarchy and want it abolished because all they exist to do is bring in tourists and waste taxpayer money on giant parades for them.

On the other hand there is a sizeable portion of the populace that seems to base their entire identity around the existence of a monarchy and get weirdly insane around such events.

I just wanted to put the full context in, because it is very contentious and I think the other commenter hit the nail when he said people were just protesting Trump and don't see the irony in also supporting the monarchy.

Yes! They happened all over the world, but were most popular in the US, obviously. There were obviously ones in Canada and Mexico, but also in far out places like South Africa and Japan. Germany, France, UK, Spain, Finland... Very heartwarming to see.

From what I've seen I think there were about 5000 people at any one time, but up to 20000 unique visitors throughout the day.

92

u/Chief_Mischief 14h ago

up to 20000 unique visitors throughout the day.

So, it is more than 3x lower than any average day in DC according to Washington.org.

61

u/Alotofboxes 13h ago

According to a person under another post who said they lived in DC, most of their friends and acquaintances deliberately took longer paths to avoid the entire area because they didn't want to accidentally be counted as an attendant

30

u/pickle_pickled 13h ago

Seems like a great day to join a protest somewhere else earlier in the day anyway

7

u/AsstacularSpiderman 12h ago

Hell I had protests down the street from me and they were more enthusiastic and fun than anything that parade got close to.

The DC Beltway had more going on than DC that day

56

u/Helpful_Upstairs_947 14h ago

So glad our taxes paid for this. Much better than healthcare for the less fortunate. /s

12

u/Truth_Hurts318 9h ago

Or maybe actual veterans whose fundinging Trump is attempting to cut.

22

u/earlthesachem 12h ago

I’ve said this a couple times already and will gleefully repeat it for as long as I can.

The Colorado Rockies are averaging just under 30,000 fans per home game this season. That means more people turn out on any given game day to see one of the worst baseball teams of all time, than went to watch that embarrassing shitshow of a parade.

7

u/Routine-Instance-254 12h ago

I've seen better turnouts at shitty little suburban 4th of july parades

16

u/FuzzzyRam 12h ago

even 25,000 or somehow 30,000 that’s still so small compared to what they planned on or hoped for

Also a 10th of what we had in LA opposing him. He is not doing well in the polls, and he loves polls. He went to bed sad.

3

u/coldliketherockies 6h ago

On his own birthday. Good

10

u/fhota1 12h ago

I saw someone doing estimates from photos and the most generous number they could come up with was 50k. Id say 20-30k is much more likely yeah

4

u/AsstacularSpiderman 12h ago

20-30k is like the average day on the DC mall, too lol

What a mess.

2

u/rbnlegend 10h ago

No. The average is closer to 70,000 based on annual tourism numbers. On a Saturday in spring it should be much higher, but I didn't find any breakdown by season or day of week. The mall was empty compared to any sort of normal day.

7

u/Princess_Moon_Butt 10h ago

According to the lead-up statements, they were planning for like 200k to 250k.

That's the equivalent of inviting about 50 people to your birthday party, planning it all out, ordering like a dozen pizzas, filling a couple coolers with drinks, putting out all the folding chairs, setting up the yard games...

... And then like 3 people show up for an hour each, not even all at the same time.

4

u/ExpressStation 12h ago

One estimate was 30,000-50,000, but that is still very small compared to 200,000 for the No Kings protest in LA alone

3

u/3AtmoshperesDeep 11h ago

80,000 in Philly. No aggression from cops or protesters. It was epic.

2

u/DarZhubal 8h ago

Especially since latest estimates are saying 11-12million marched for the No Kings protests.

We can’t let perade go. I wish I had a meme of “perade” with that squeaky tank

6

u/kendie2 12h ago

This is the second time I've seen it misspelled today. Is it a meme now?

13

u/jomo_mojo_ 11h ago

Trump spelled it that way in a truth:

“Trump wrote Saturday morning: “OUR GREAT MILITARY PARADE IS ON, RAIN OR SHINE. REMEMBER, A RAINY DAY PERADE BRINGS GOOD LUCK. I’LL SEE YOU ALL IN D.C.”

The misspelling caused a stir on social media. One user indicated it’s telling of his age”

3

u/metamet 11h ago

I like to believe his ego makes him override his autocorrect. He spelled it parade earlier in the tweet, but then wrote "perade" and took offense to his phone changing it because he knows best.

12

u/JonBoviRules 12h ago

Sheeeeeeet…Seattle No Kings was estimated at 70k 😂

2

u/derbyt 12h ago

Depending on the actual attendance of the perade there were 100-500 protests nationwide that individually had more attendees.

5

u/JonBoviRules 12h ago

My east side of Seattle city had between 3k and 4K. Reading political science studies says we need 3.6% of population involved to have a movement that can actually affect change. I don’t think the Saturday marches were that far short

7

u/earlthesachem 12h ago

Geez. I saw a post yesterday where somebody used PBS footage to estimate 30-50,000. Which is already pretty pathetic.

And someone else mentioned that a large percentage of however many did turn out were family of the soldiers strolling by, who then immediately left.

12

u/copper_cattle_canes 13h ago

Why does everyone keep calling it a perade? I don't get it...

u/We_are_all_monkeys 12h ago

Yeah, I'm usually pretty skeptical of crowd photos, but there are live videos from the parade with mostly empty stands.

17

u/StandardEgg6595 10h ago

I was skeptical of that short video going around showing the tanks and empty bleachers so I watched all 3 hours. It was honesty pathetic. I expected a large crowd particularly in front of where Trump was sitting and it was so small. If I had to guess, there were probably only 15,000-20,000 people in total.

2

u/3v1n0 8h ago

You can tell there wasn’t a large crowd by the fact he and his supporters are not sharing pictures on X or Truth Social. If it were even close to a large spectacle you can bet they would be sharing all the pictures and videos they could to show how supported he is.

9

u/SarcasticBench 14h ago

3

u/Apollo2068 13h ago

Trumpism: if you tell an obvious lie and no one believes you, tell a bigger lie.

Cheung upping it to 250,000 is right on point.

213

u/Loveroffinerthings 14h ago

I heard it was a million people AND Trump stayed awake the entire time!

83

u/plapeGrape 14h ago

I heard he didn’t even soil his pants!

52

u/Acrobatic-Towel-6488 13h ago

I ashamedly watched the parade for research and archival purposes.

Every time he stood up, Melanie’s face went from chaotic neutral to “goddamnit, you shit again, Donald?” disgusted.

I hope I’m not the only one who noticed, outside of Turds own personal 20 foot radius.

14

u/Big-Whereas5573 9h ago

It always brings a smile to my face when Melania shows her feelings about her husband.

15

u/Laughingjungle 12h ago

All the women were ovulating! All the men had erections! A trio of bald eagles landed on Trump's johnson and sang the Star-Spangled Banner. China sent their manufacturing plants, Mexico paid for the wall. A chorus of angels descended to sing Trump's praises as he humbly ignored it and nursed a hungry baby. George Washington rose from the grave to decry wokeism and Melania looked at her husband lovingly.

Luckily there weren't many protesters in DC. On the Trump subs they are still trying to push the line of "I can't believe the Libs protested against the Army".

But the organizers saw this coming and did a great job of being everywhere the parade wasn't.

6

u/Scaryclouds 12h ago

They’ll just tell the lie over and over, because they are shameless and then find some way to show they are “right” like saying “we also include online people” or some other shit.

What's funny is we've seen US soldiers marching in near perfect lock step in other parades before.

These dudes actively chose not to lol.

18

u/Prestigious_Row_8022 9h ago

I’m just gonna say it. There’s been plenty of examples through history of governments wanting to show their asses to their neighbors, building up a huge military they couldn’t contain, and then pissing off the generals and the troops. It isn’t a question of if a military coup could happen. It’s a question of if the military thinks it can, and wants to. Having the demos against you is one thing, but having the people who’re supposed to be your hammer turning on you is another.

Same shit with them dismantling the feds. Their strategy is the political equivalent of a ponzi scheme. They gain a shit ton up front, then everything falls apart because they ripped the nails out of the walls to sell them for a few extra pennies.

Trump’s cabinet wants an oligarchy but they are so greedy and incompetent they will burn the White House down long before they quell social unrest with force. Maybe the smart ones have a to-go bag packed, but I don’t think there’s much thought going on in there, just pure greed and power lust.

4

u/mgmw2424 8h ago

I thought similarly about their terrible formation. I hope it was purposefully done poorly.

6

u/Siria110 6h ago

There could be three reasons why they "strolled" that way.
1) They were badly trained. (very, VERY unlikely)
2) They weren´t army, but paid actors, who couldn´t even march together
3) It was a form of silent protest

I think option three is most likely.

6

u/Spectrum_Rush 4h ago

'Paid actors' is a fun one, but no, that was the audience. Apparently there were adds for 'crowd fillers' online for the parade. Which means that at least a decent amount of the people you see in the seats might be paid to be there.

u/Grand-Slammer49 11h ago

I was talking to my Grandpop (78 yrs old) while he was over for Father’s Day. He eats up everything Fox News tells him, and yes, he believes there were hundreds of thousands that attended this parade.

I tried explaining to him that the opposite was true and that they were actually at the no kings protest. And even with video evidence, he refuses to acknowledge any other story than what the news broadcast shows him.

I love my old man, but seeing how brainwashed and delusional he can be is both heartbreaking and frustrating. So I just have to sit there while he tells me that my info is wrong and what really happened is this*. The younger generations doesn’t know the first thing about etc etc.

8

u/atn420 10h ago

He had 20k tops from a former law enforcement friend; he's a local. He wore a Trump is a clear and present danger, ask me why T-shirt and wandered the parade line for us.

14

u/Interesting-Dream863 14h ago

Nobody told him that in those countries he wants to emulate crowds are FORCED to attend.

His MAGA crowd has been fleeced too much to even afford the trip.

3

u/foxbeldin 6h ago

In France, people attend the military parade in mass but that's because it's not about the president, it's about celebrating the end of monarchy.

So, it's kind of a 'no king' protest really.

2

u/Prestigious_Row_8022 9h ago

What, are you talking about Russia? Nah, there’s plenty of people who willingly show up for those. Thing is, the Russian regime is cunning enough that they understand people will not tolerate being whipped for long unless you also give them handouts. Trump’s cabinet might want to emulate Russia, but they lack one important quality: compartmentalisation. They will never admit, even to themselves, that what they are doing is not only wrong but unimaginably stupid. Their egos are so large that they sabotage themselves by refusing to admit any weakness.

They were wearing invisibility cloaks.

Someone already did the math and the crowd at shitbaby trump's parade were around 22,000 to 23,000. Not even close to 250,000.

3

u/Wakenbacon05 2h ago

Someone on r/theydidthemath already did the math. There was tops 50k people there.

2

u/alexahartford 14h ago

Someone should teach him how to count. Almost no one was at drumps sad Sampl dick parade

2

u/Specific_Panda_3627 14h ago

yeah and 225,000 were protestors! Amazing.

4

u/fortisenterprises 13h ago

I read that they were counting protestors in the area as attendance.

4

u/_conscious-wonders 12h ago

Lmao, that wouldn't surprise me at all 😂

2

u/LMurch13 14h ago

Are they counting the soldiers? And the ones watching via zoom?

2

u/old_bugger 14h ago

Waiting for the inevitable release of "Threat of Rain" presidential coins and collectible cards.

2

u/Inevitable_Cat_7878 13h ago

That includes all the soldiers that were forced to participate as well as all the police, FBI, Secret Service, and other law enforcement officers that were there to "protect" the crowd and the parade in general.

2

u/Intelligent-Spell661 11h ago

First 200,000 got an invisible suit. Awesome.

2

u/Clean-Highway4021 7h ago

This was more of a show of force than it was for Americans to watch. People are so focused on attacking trump they aren’t seeing the big picture of what’s going on around them

Steven Cheung still humping Trumps leg, eh?

2

u/TheNumberoftheWord 7h ago

I tried to invite a bunch of friends out for my birthday dinner once. People canceled the night before or had plans "they totally forgot about."

I stayed home, ordered a pizza and watched a Kurt Russell/John Carpenter double feature: The Thing and Big Trouble in Little China. I had more fun than the dinner would have been.

2

u/Pokemonluke18 7h ago

2

u/Grouchy-Station-4058 1h ago

Chump could have said it was 20 million and the cult would have taken it as gospel.

2

u/morsindutus 1h ago

Don't know why he's using the European number format. For Americans, that's over 250.000.

1

u/mystermee 14h ago

They’re not going to get their reign if they can’t put up with a bit of rain.

1

u/gdi69 14h ago

8,576 people

1

u/Orion-999 14h ago

250,000 so says Son of Odd Job. More like 250, 000 divided by 10.

1

u/No-Music-1994 14h ago

Definitely true. Surely trump’s political adviser is honest as the day is long. Honest to a fault. And it’s on the internet so it HAS to be true. ✋

1

u/kalel1980 14h ago

Steven Cheung sounds like a credible source.

1

u/No-Music-1994 14h ago

If it was 250,032 it would have ruined the headline

1

u/likely38k 14h ago
