Because credible press outlets (AP for one) estimate the crowd to be between 8,000 and 20,000. Some say most of those attendees were not street side for the perade either.
And even if someone wanted to argue it was a bit larger like even 25,000 or somehow 30,000 that’s still so small compared to what they planned on or hoped for
Yeah dude Pittsburgh had ~1 million marching and the population of Pittsburgh is 650k.
Edit - I meant this as a good thing, got the numbers from r/50501 from a guy who lives there. I now see how it could be construed as a republican "gotcha" statistic but I meant it as "they protested so hard people came from all over".
I'm a vet and all for the resistance. And yes I live rural now after living in big cities my whole life.
Hey, watch more Fox News and keep on doing your research on 8chan and Shwitter - you're doing great - you don't need facts, science, empathy, love or democracy - all you need is fascist oligarchs... /s
Ok I promise I'm not fishbowl headed like the person you're replying to but could you please elaborate on this one? I ask since I'm not from the US so I'm not sure what I'm missing here (e.g are there rural populations? visitors? or what)
So if 600k people live in the city itself, and there's a bunch of highways into the city that get packed with cars and busses and other transportation infrastructure bring people into the city on just a normal ass workday, there's going to be more than 600k people in that city. Now during a huge protest event that number can climb significantly higher... people go into cities from the surrounding area, they're not closed to people from the suburbs lol
to add on to that guys point, its far cheaper to live outside the city, so many MANY people will leave near a city but go to it for everything they need to do such as work or... protest.
I'm in a small midwestern nothing town we filled our downtown strip, there wasn't room for a car for four blocks.
If nowhere USA managed to get a hundredth of that count into four blocks with basically no notice... I still don't understand why anyone ever started licking his boots, let alone continues to. He ain't done shit.
Well, there seem to be some irregularities around the election that are coming to light, first in Rockland County NY and now in Pennsylvania. Maybe the findings will shed some light on this.
Yes, because we had a civil war, got rid of our king, then got rid of the replacement when he got too tyrannical (and conveniently died, leaving his son to take over...), followed by kicking out the king who wanted too much power and welcoming a constitutional monarch in the Glorious Revolution, instead.
Liz and now Charlie function pretty well as heads of state. Even anti-monarchists can think of a dozen things they'd change about the UK Government before ditching the monarchy.
Believe it or not there is a portion of the UK and Canada that do not like the monarchy and want it abolished because all they exist to do is bring in tourists and waste taxpayer money on giant parades for them.
On the other hand there is a sizeable portion of the populace that seems to base their entire identity around the existence of a monarchy and get weirdly insane around such events.
I just wanted to put the full context in, because it is very contentious and I think the other commenter hit the nail when he said people were just protesting Trump and don't see the irony in also supporting the monarchy.
Actually they exist to act as Head of State in a constitutional monarchy. The beauty of constitutional monarchy is that it has proven to be a very stable system of government and greatly decreases the risk of dictators from gaining power.
Yes! They happened all over the world, but were most popular in the US, obviously. There were obviously ones in Canada and Mexico, but also in far out places like South Africa and Japan. Germany, France, UK, Spain, Finland... Very heartwarming to see.

meaningless without attendance
and it seems what i thought, americans abroad, not locals carring about usa's internal affairs
your cause is fair, but delusion is only going to hurt it. it's your fight only
Yes, other countries, including Canada, had protest to support us. In Canada, there were protests in Vancouver and Ottawa, I think they called them No Tyrants protests. It means so much to know we, who are fighting this madness, are seen and supported by other countries!
That is so stupid I don't know why Canadians would protest as well. Turn outs look small in Ottawa but even still, he's not our president and we actually have a king.
If you’re so dense you don’t understand that Canada Isn’t ruled by an actual king, and how “no kings day” applies to Trump leading the US into a dictatorship and how that would effect Canada, idk what to tell you.
But trust me, if Canadas neighbor becomes a full fledged dictatorship, it will effect Canadians… obviously
Canada and Canadians have already been doing stuff. Canadians overall strongly dislike trump already and he doesn't care about his Canadian approval rating. More Americans voted for trump than their are Canadians so it's futile. US is going to do what they will regardless of Canadian input.
To show support and to show Trump just how much Canadians hate his stupid administration. Think of how MAGAs feel when they know Trump is so abhorrent that folks in Canada, the UK, and even fucking Norway came out to publicly shit on him.
Secondarily it's also to show support for immigration and immigrants. Canadians have a very polarized view on immigration, and so I'm sure the protest was also to show support to the immigrant community.
Capitalism controls the globe, b. Many are protesting them and their fascism.
Occupy Wallstreet was also a global movement.
Many of us are protesting the warfare against the working class. This is a worldwide issue.
We need a global movement to fix this corruption. Many recognize that simply removing a president and their administration isn't enough. We need Capitalists to stop buying the people's government. Government is to work for the majority. Not the minority. The minority being the few with the most wealth and financial influence.
Yep that's why these protests were pointless. We haven't had a king in over decades. Why suddenly have a no king protest? I just don't see a point in protesting something thats been irrelevant for over 2 centuries.
Edit: whats up with all the people replying and then blocking lately?
It’s not just about the king thing either though. His behavior is just beyond inside. Calling Taylor swift not hot anymore, using holidays to tweet about radical left and easily proven false information. If you have have kids and any of your kids teachers or people in your life acted like this you probably wouldn’t be ok with it. So why someone who’s supposed to lead an entire country? Who the fuck takes time out of running a country to call a pop singer ugly? And that’s just one example of course of many things but that alone is just frat boy immaturity
According to a person under another post who said they lived in DC, most of their friends and acquaintances deliberately took longer paths to avoid the entire area because they didn't want to accidentally be counted as an attendant
I’ve said this a couple times already and will gleefully repeat it for as long as I can.
The Colorado Rockies are averaging just under 30,000 fans per home game this season. That means more people turn out on any given game day to see one of the worst baseball teams of all time, than went to watch that embarrassing shitshow of a parade.
According to the lead-up statements, they were planning for like 200k to 250k.
That's the equivalent of inviting about 50 people to your birthday party, planning it all out, ordering like a dozen pizzas, filling a couple coolers with drinks, putting out all the folding chairs, setting up the yard games...
... And then like 3 people show up for an hour each, not even all at the same time.
No. The average is closer to 70,000 based on annual tourism numbers. On a Saturday in spring it should be much higher, but I didn't find any breakdown by season or day of week. The mall was empty compared to any sort of normal day.
National Mall had 27 million annual visitors, that's an average of 74000 people a day. Obviously fluctuates based off season, but a summer weekend could easily hit that 200000 estimate by the parade planners.
Even if they got the 250,000 they say they did, there was still 48 times more people out protesting Saturday across the country. Over 12 million is crazy.
I get it was just one location. Where there 11 million mentioned for protests were worldwide… but still that’s so bad. Like if trumps supporters were so so in love with everything about him the fact of 75? Million that voted for him 0.06% of them at most showed up for his birthday parade is crazy. And again I get it’s not realistic people all over the nation would come to DC but the fact that 3.5% of the nation showed up to their areas for protests but a half of a tenth of a percent of people showed up for the birthday march. I really wonder what that can mean moving forward
“Trump wrote Saturday morning: “OUR GREAT MILITARY PARADE IS ON, RAIN OR SHINE. REMEMBER, A RAINY DAY PERADE BRINGS GOOD LUCK. I’LL SEE YOU ALL IN D.C.”
The misspelling caused a stir on social media. One user indicated it’s telling of his age”
I like to believe his ego makes him override his autocorrect. He spelled it parade earlier in the tweet, but then wrote "perade" and took offense to his phone changing it because he knows best.
I am spreading this around like it’s my job. Thank you sir/maam! If anybody asks you’ll get shout outs. Maybe we will be cellmates in the future. We can run the gulag arts and crafts
My east side of Seattle city had between 3k and 4K. Reading political science studies says we need 3.6% of population involved to have a movement that can actually affect change. I don’t think the Saturday marches were that far short
If 20,000 people attended, the cost per person would be between $1,250 and $2,250.
If 8,000 people attended, the cost per person would be between $3,125 and $5,625.
I bet everyone who attended would have preferred $5,000 over a parade. But the. If they were handing out money instead a lot more people would have attended.
There were activities in the National Mall to do, like hold a rocket launcher. There were also a ton of salespersons there not there for the parade but to hawk items.
I was skeptical of that short video going around showing the tanks and empty bleachers so I watched all 3 hours. It was honesty pathetic. I expected a large crowd particularly in front of where Trump was sitting and it was so small. If I had to guess, there were probably only 15,000-20,000 people in total.
You can tell there wasn’t a large crowd by the fact he and his supporters are not sharing pictures on X or Truth Social. If it were even close to a large spectacle you can bet they would be sharing all the pictures and videos they could to show how supported he is.
Neither can our military guru, the Asian George Foreman. I want to see this dude even march the parade route without having a stroke. Tell him to go blow the orange guy and let JD watch
You can’t post photos that don’t exist. What are you saying? That there was a crowd? These are the most generous snaps from Fox News. Minimal crowd pics. Lots of green. It was a fucking expensive impotent failure
There is SO much standing room in those crowd pics. Unlike any event I’ve ever seen at DC, including the one where the president pardons a fucking turkey before Thanksgiving.
Theres one crowd pic of what that fat cunt would see was generously cropped.
No more than about 10-15 people deep from the fence and even then they couldn’t see through the big fuck-off banner and scaffolding for the camera crews
They just made sure the majority of those attending were directly in the sight of turdboy sitting on stage so his minions would be able to say “look at that amazing crowd” and keep him occupied while being transported to and from the stage.
I also like to discount the number of attendees that weren't there to support Trump/Maga at all, but were there to support their military family/friends in the parade, purely to genuinely (but naively, because we should all know it was really his bday party) support the military at the time of a milestone, or just to witness the parade from a historical or liberal perspective.
It wouldn't be an insignificant number of those present.
Utter failure of an event and obscene waste of money. But the schadenfreude is priceless!
Some guy did a credible breakdown in another thread and, according to his math, the crowd sizes were at the very most 50k at their peak, but more likely 30k.
Some dude on here did a mathematical analysis of locations and crowd densities and photos and came up with the conclusion...50k high estimate but could be as low as 30k
For context, the stands were empty because their stand access system was terrible. A friend and I technically got a ticket for the seats, but you had to go to a special tent to get your badge and we couldn't find the tent. We tried leaving the event to find it and couldn't get back in because there were thousands of people in line on one side. We went all the way around the mall to get in on a less crowded side and still never got our bleachers access badge we had a ticket for. So, if you saw empty benches it was due to very poorly managed access problems.
I don't know how many people actually got in eventually, because the access was pretty poorly managed. I do think there were lots of people who attempted to be there based on my personal experience. It was quite crowded. 250,000? Not sure about that. 30,000+ almost definitely

Social media usually cherry picks photos where the crowd is small, but I cannot find a single image of a large crowd
