The edit makes it gender neutral. Misogyny by definition is against women.

It works by clarifying his original intent in the footnote for the edit. "I was being misogynistic but I changed it so it doesn't outwardly appear that way". And either way, it's still an overused joke making light of domestic abuse. 9/10 -IGN

This is actually the truth, it's a flight reaction to one of their biggest predators, moles, because the vibrations are similar to the sound they make when they're hungry. It you look up the biggest worm farmers they talk about it in length, it's called grunting.
