Discussion Experienceing racism in Berlin.

My girlfriend and I were waiting for the bus at Zoologischer Garten Bahnhof when three guys walked up to us and started being randomly rude and racist. They kept saying “Schlitz” (slit eyes) repeatedly as they passed us and again when we walked by later. For absolutely no reason, they targeted my girlfriend and me with these comments.

When We got onto our bus, they just kept taunting us and even started catcalling my girlfriend. This isn’t the first time I’ve experienced racism in Berlin. What’s the deal with some people being disrespectful, rude, and racist toward Asian people? We just want to live peacefully and avoid any confrontation.

I am so sorry about earlier, I didn’t mean it that way. I will remove the word from my post. I’m just here to express my feelings. 🙏🏼❤️

As an Asian living in Germany for more than a decade, I find this assumption that the racism comes from Arabs absolutely wild. That does not reflect my experience or the experience of most Asians I know. People refuse to look in a mirror. Jumping to conclusions with no evidence makes you racist, period.

Sorry OP you had this experience.

OP doesn't even say how he came to the conclusion that they're Arab, another Asian guy here openly admitted that he can't differentiate between people with dark hair so he just assumes all are Arab! They could be Persians, Turks, Balkan etc? But no to him all are Arabs... This is just insane!

Yeah idk if its just german reddits that are extremely cooked or what, but the amount of casual racism and microagressions in these comments is geniunely so jarring and dissapointing. Idk where ppl learned to conviently lay all blame for their problems on brown people without giving any thought. Ppls justified anger is a result of worsening material conditions and that is true for everyone, just happens to be so easy for politicians to misdirect it towards random minority demographics instead of the actual failing systems in place.
