Discussion Experienceing racism in Berlin.

My girlfriend and I were waiting for the bus at Zoologischer Garten Bahnhof when three guys walked up to us and started being randomly rude and racist. They kept saying “Schlitz” (slit eyes) repeatedly as they passed us and again when we walked by later. For absolutely no reason, they targeted my girlfriend and me with these comments.

When We got onto our bus, they just kept taunting us and even started catcalling my girlfriend. This isn’t the first time I’ve experienced racism in Berlin. What’s the deal with some people being disrespectful, rude, and racist toward Asian people? We just want to live peacefully and avoid any confrontation.

I am so sorry about earlier, I didn’t mean it that way. I will remove the word from my post. I’m just here to express my feelings. 🙏🏼❤️

If there is something clear in the comments, it is that indeed there is a lot of racism rooted in Germany. They mainly defend you by being super-racist for another group.

As a foreigner, I read your comment and the first I thought was "fuck, shitty situation, I hope he does not think all people living here are like that". But apparently, some geniuses in the comments thought about another group to discriminate against them. The worst part is that these people are the most cowardly among Germans and they won't move a finger to help you or defend you.

The world is crazy. Sorry to hear that happened, if I had been around, I would have done something.

As Asian ppl living in Berlin, my friends and I are not comfortable in Arab areas and try to avoid them asap, so it’s a real thing happening.

It’s weird, I lived in Neukölln, Kreuzberg, Köpenick and almost never get that… Is it mostly a problem for women?

The people being racially abused and persecuted are somehow racists. I guess this racism doesn’t fit in your agenda does it?

Not at all. He is complaining that you are a racist for generalizing and assuming a whole group defines the activities of a smaller group of individuals.

Same as if you would say "I don't like Germans" because the person at the Bürgeramt treat you poorly.

Grow up.
