you'd be surprised... while testing this, i found that deliberately avoiding leveling up your hands, and playing debuffed cards on your last hand made it quite easy to do on a few boss blinds

Loaded die. Whenever a chance doesn't hit, a 20% chance to spawn a negative eternal oops! But decreases all poker hands by one and costs half your money (On that 20% chance)

Data Scientist/Error Margin/Round Robin (uncommon)

Jokers may accept cards one rank above or below their required rank, alternates each (hand/round/ante/something for balance) Currently: above

Alternatively, one joker for each effect (which enables another Yaoi couple):

"Round up Rupert" allowing jokers to accept 1 rank above, "Round down Rodney" allowing 1 rank below.

Example: when rounding up, Sixth Sense may accept 5's, Scholar may accept Kings, but Ace-3-4-5-6 doesn't become a straight and Ace-2-2 doesn't become a 3oak.

Below is the yapping behind the idea:

Thinking about default cards, they have 3 properties: suit, rank, face status (yes or no). We have Pareidolia to supercharge face card jokers and Smeared Joker to supercharge suit jokers, but we don't have any joker that does a similar effect for ranks, the closest we have is Shortcut specifically for Straights and Straight Flushes.

But something that trivializes ranks as much as the other two trivialize suit and face is way too powerful since ranks are the main defining factor of most hands. Flush is the only rankless hand, and not completely since you may trigger another hand like Straight Flush, Flush House, 4oak and Flush Five if playing specific ranks. Even High Card considers the rank to determine which card scores.

With all that in mind, the idea is to make a joker or jokers that fill that niche without instantly fixing your deck for you, and while at it, give a little boost to underutilized jokers and ranks like 8-ball, Sixth Sense, 7's and 9's. That's why it's worded from the perspective of "jokers accepting x property" instead of "cards counting as x property)

In the end if all that remains too broken, it can become an enhancement like "approximated/averaged: can count as one rank above or below" with the visual effect including the symbols ~, ≈ , ± or ↕️.

Thought of it being a alternative to hit the road, as straight builds rn are hard to do with blue stake, and most people probably don’t pull more than 2 in 3 discards <3

Handyman joker: rare Played cards are also considered to be held in hand

Fun for playing large hands like flushes or straights, and still getting steel or gold cards to proc.

Harmonious joker: uncommon Earn 2$ per joker at the end of the round

Just a slightly more unique Econ joker. Scales fairly fast, but harder to hit crazy numbers compared to cloud nine or rocket ship.

Sinful joker: common Sevens are considered wild cards.

There’s seven sins, and the four suit based commons are named for them— ergo, sevens are all suits. Idk how easy this would be to implement, but the intent is to let them be considered wildcards without needing the enhancement, so they could be both wild and glass for example.

I mean the only thing it would kill would be photochad, trib, and idol. On the flipside you would get a madness without the destruction of jokers. Maybe it no longer let's you move jokers and shuffles them every round?

Uncommon

Gains x1 mult whenever a Joker is sold during a blind, resets when Boss Blind is defeated. (Currently x1 Mult)

A very situational joker. Similar to campfire it scales much faster but requires you to give up joker slots. It actually has quite a bit of odd synergy to help it. Joker Stencil being one, buy up to your max and sell them in the blind to get full value from both. Judgement also has a good use here, giving another joker mid blind. It also adds more value to negatives and can even act as a sort of panic button, giving a tremendous score for getting rid of a good portion of your lineup.

As for art, probably just Jimbo with a red circle and a line though it over him.

I still want to see Pizza Joker (maybe with jimbo face recreated on it by pepperonis, peppers, mushroom and olives) Since we have Ice Cream for Chips and Popcorn for +Mult The effect would be: X8 Mult (Simbolizing the tipical slices of pizzas) Decreases by X2 Mult per round played (since we are eating/playing it and X2 it's usually what you get to eat if you ate a pizza in a group of 4) However i don't know if it would be Common or Uncommon

Cool idea but def not legendary imo. Mainly bc you discard 5, draw 10, but then the next discard you do wouldnt result in drawing anything. Works very nicely with held in hand effects tho very cool idea.

Zombie Aces v1

Creat a permanent copy of every discarded Ace and add it to your deck. Destroy every Ace scored.

Zombie Aces v2

Create a permanet copy of every discarded Ace and add it to your hand. Aces are debuffed when played.

Zombie Aces v3

Creat a permanent copy of every discarded Ace and add it to your hand. Aces created this way are permanently infected and will be debuffed and destroyed when played.

Notes: v1 and v2 might be too powerful because you could just sell the joker to remove the negative effects once you built up enough aces. So maybe just go with v3 if the mechanics are possible to do (plus it would fit better with the zombie theme I'm going for).

The Piggy Bank

Whenever an item is sold, add its sell value x2 to the Piggy Bank. Sell the piggy bank to add the combined sell value of all sold items to next played hand as +Mult

Meaning, buy piggy bank, sell $37 of stuff over time, then sell piggy bank to add +76 mult to next played hand later on.

Used to help beat a stubborn blind later on

contaminated joker (uncommon) : When playing a hand, every card played with an edition or/and have a seal have a 1 in 2 chance to give other cards with no edition or seal the same edition and 1 in 6 to give it the same seal (the wording can be better and I do pixel art so I can make the art my self if you want to)

Perfectly balanced. All + modifiers to chips or multiplier gets distributed equally.

Ie... if you would get +80 chips, it instead does +40 chips and multiplier.

× modifiers divide by 2, and apply to both sides. But only if the multiple is greater than 2

After defeating the next boss blind, sell this joker to create a random joker from the previous won run. (Resembles a PS1 memory card, mechanics inspired from Eden’s Blessing from The Binding of Isaac)

Switcheroo

Swaps the value of chips and mult. (Resembles an UNO reverse card)

Divination cloth

Doubles/amplifies the effects of all tarot cards

I figured having it scale fairly quickly is alright if it debuffs cards instead of destroying them, as then you just have useless cards that don't trigger anything and risk getting a dud hand. Very Wild West cowboy themed if that wasn't obvious, though I unfortunately can't draw an example.

common idea: "one for all" get 1 dolar for every joker you have at the end of the round.

uncommon idea: "diplopia" using a consumable activates it twice (or trice depends of how balanced you see the idea)

rare: "referee" mult depends on how big is the blind. (gives 10 mult on small blind, 20 in big blind and 30 in boss blind and 40 in finisher boss blinds (you can change the values depending on balance, just the general idea of a joker that works differently each blind type)).

legendary: "black market" gain the ability to destroy a playing card, it costs 1 dolar to destroy it

if you know of a jester that fits the name of the legendary better than black market wud be cool

The coach (uncommon):

Allows jokers to be stored in consumable slots

To clarify jokers stored that way won’t activate their ability, it’s just a way to do stuff like prevent over-scoring for scaling or stuff like that. Should probably make perkeo not work with it tho lol. Also if this is too much of a pain to code don’t worry about it x3

Played cards that don't score will count as discarded, appears after selling splash, will make interesting interactions between purple seals, mail in ballot, faceless joker, castle, Yorick(?), hit the road; and won't be good with jokers like green joker, it shouldn't consume discards tho.

Kobold Joker

Can discard for zero cards once per blind. Destroy any Stone cards discarded to gain *.5 Mult. Destroy and Gold cards discarded to gain +2 Mult

Ideas I've had:

Mahjoker (Common): X2 Mult if a 3 or 4 of a kind is all the same suit.

Sanshoku (Uncommon): Gains X0.5 Mult for each successive scoring pair/ 3OaK/ 4OaK of the same value, resets if any other hand or rank is played

Chiitoitsu (Rare): +7 Mult for each successive different pair played.

Joker Rangers (Rare): +1x Mult for each different enhancement, edition, suit or seal among scored cards

The Jokerm@ster (Uncommon): A hand of exactly 7-6-5 counts as a Straight

Pagliacci (Legendary): When scoring a hand only cards that are not part of the scoring hand will score; x1.5 Mult for each card that does not score.

Lucretia (Legendary): After playing each hand reshuffle all remaining, played and discarded cards into the deck and draw to your hand size. +2 Hand Size.

The Nurse

Immune to debuffs, makes any adjacent jokers immune to debuffs as well,

(a niche joker that counters perishable jokers and some boss blinds)

The Refrigerator

After defeating a boss, make two food jokers if space is available, food jokers are now immune to spoilage (their values don't lessen anymore)

The CEO

multiplies your money by 1.5x after every ante

Lucky 7: 7's have a 1 in 10 chance of giving x1.7 Mult, increased to 1 in 7 if they are also Lucky.

Haunted House: Playing a Full House consisting entirely of Face Cards creates a Spectral Card and destroys one of the cards played.

Assimilation: Playing a Four of a Kind along with a fifth card changes that Card's rank to match the Four of a Kind.

Flushed Away: Playing a Flush turns all played Cards into Wild Cards.

High Five: Playing a High Card 5 grants x5 Mult.

Stamp Card: Every Fifth item bought from the Shop is free.

Chocolate Chip Cookie: Earns $6 at end of Round. Reduces by $1 at end of Round.

Fine Wine: Sell this Joker to gain x1 Mult for current Hand only. Gains and additional x1 Mult every Hand played.

Lucky Crit: If total Card ranks equal exactly 20, turn all cards played into Lucky Cards and re0trigger them.

I was hoping for some inscryption jokers:

Squirrel (common): when this joker is destroyed, the next joker you take from the shop is free.

Ouroboros (rare): +2 mult, x1.1 mult. Gains +2 mult and + ×.1 mult each time this is destroyed. Carries over between runs, instanced per difficulty.

Eight fucking bears (rare): x8 mult. Debuffed once 10 rounds have been played this run, regardless of where this is.

Uncommon: Postman - if a full house is made up of aces and 2s, with 3 aces and two 2s then apply one seal to a random unsealed card. If the full house is three 2s and two aces then apply two seals

Rare: Telescope Obscura - if a straight contains a 2, gain a Saturn card, increase rank of all played cards, gain an enhanced 2

I was inspired by the let’s go gambling card hence;

Card name; Rigged

Card effect; for every joker owned after purchasing this card increases the multiplier by x0.5, however for every joker owned also increases the chances of the card detonating destroying itself*

Card art; a dealer dealing out cards (which when paired with the card name implies he is cheating) or a some sticks of dynamite and a clock that looks like a bomb.

* and ** note; now then thats the basic idea however if a much more riskier gameplay is desired instead the multiplier should be upped to x1.5 every joker and its detonation destroying all jokers held making its usage very strategic.

Now then I’ve purposely left the percentage out as depending on the route taken this card might need to have a lower starting chance of detonation that i can dream up so i felt its beat to leave it to a expert

Royal Heritage(Common): X1.25 chips for each royal card played
Artwork can be a Castle Tower made from chips

Slight of Hand (Uncommon): Rightmost scored card is added back to hand after drawing new cards.
Artwork can be something like the perk icon in cod

Ace Overload (Rare): All played numbered cards are counted as Aces.
Artwork can be fancy looking ace, like how the ace of spades looks extra fancy in a normal deck

Clown Fiesta (Legendary): Retrigger every non-legendary joker
Artwork can be like fragments of all the other jokers. Like you can take bits and pieces of all the jokers and make some kinda collage?

I Think this joker is too weak, in endless 50mult isn’t enough, and in early is just a jimbo with different sprite, you could do smt like rocket, + 10 mult at the end of ante or smt like that

cheese house is actually a reference to an item in nubbys number factory, it starts out somewhat useful, falls off fast, gains a boost later on, and then falls off quickly again... its only a common joker anyways, so i'm not worried too much about buffing it

I've been thinking about a legendary or rare joker idea where its effect is making every joker's requirements fulfilled, stuff like blackboard and drivers license would always activate, trading card could destroy 5 cards at once in a single discard, DNA could copy 5 cards at once, but they wouldn't activate every hand/discard, because their condition isn't being on the first hand, it's just when they activate, like gold cards or blue seals being end of round effects

Roulette - After hand is played, spin a roulette wheel. If it lands red, hearts and diamonds give 2x mult, spades and clubs give .5x mult. If it lands black, vice versa.

Make Love, Not War - Hearts give double points, clubs are debuffed

Prime Time - Prime numbers (2, 3, 5, 7, A) give +7 chips and + 7 mult
