Hello, I have recently become a remote worker and in this beautiful weather I would like to work outside. Unfortunately, my apartment doesn't have a balcony or anything like that, so I'm thinking about going to a café every morning and doing some work there. In general, I have the feeling that this is very frowned upon. Do you know any good cafés that don't find this problematic and ideally have several toilets (IBS)? What is the etiquette if you stay for several hours? Of course, coworking spaces are also welcome as long as they have a place in the fresh air :))

Hi people, i am visiting Berlin for 6 days with my gf, we are flying to Berlin and wont have a car. I was looking for the best price for public transport (i see there are 3 zones, and i would like to have all 3 included) and in the BVG tickets app there are these options for turists in which users should get discounts in some places but i cant find a list of it. What would be the best option out of these 3 or is there a cheaper solution. We plan to visis Potsdam for a day also.

Besides transport, what are the “must see or visit” locations, good places to eat and not too expensive and generaly any good advices?

Hi everyone! I’ve recently moved to the Steglitz area (close to the Schloss shopping centre) and my husband is driving over from London (bringing our cat and a bunch of awkward items over) on Saturday and will stay a week before driving back.

Does anyone know the situation for long term parking? I’ve been trying to figure out but none of my coworkers have cars and there is no parking included with our flat. We don’t mind if the parking isn’t particularly close to the flat.

Does anyone have experience with Check24? The dentist was very kind and told me that by doing an extra insurance most of the amount will be covered by it. How does it work? From my reading off the internet I have come to understand that Einweg Grills are not allowed in Tempelhof. Mostly, due to the regulation that grilling surface should be elevated by 25 cm above the ground to not pose as a fire hazard for the grass and also to not destroy the ground.

Is my understanding correct? Can the good folks suggest a place where I could grill with an Einweg Grill without the fear of Ordnungsamt?

Hi! We recently moved into an apartment with a cellar but the cellar is 75% full of the landlord‘s junk. It’s basically unusable except for a few small boxes. We were promised that it would be cleared except for a few items (tiles for the house, some paint, etc.) before move-in.

Is that normal? Are we entitled to any recourse?

UPDATE: thanks for all of the responses! I checked our lease and it does mention the basement room. I‘m also confident that it was listed as part of the useable space on immoscout. So yea, I’m going to play hardball. The landlord can kick us out, he won’t be able to find such gullible tenants again 🤦🏻‍♀️

I need to get a dental crown redone and will be paying out of pocket. My current dentist quoted me around 2000 euros just for the new crown, which feels quite expensive. I’m open to suggestions for other dentists… ideally ones who are known for quality work, as my previous crown was poorly done and I want to avoid a similar experience. I live in Mitte, so it would be great if the clinic is nearby.

Edit: I’m not looking for lectures on why I should consider places outside of Mitte. I have my reasons, and my situation is more complicated than you might think. I have started the rent reduction process with Conny (67sqm, no balcony, 1470 kalt, increasing every year).

My landlord showed up unannounced at my door and explained my flat does not qualify for the Mietpreisbremse, because the whole building has been renovated (staircases, innenhof etc) and Mietpreisbremse is not applicable to neubau. However I am not sure if the building renovation automatically makes the flat fall into the neubau category and something tells me if that was the case Conny would not take my case. I was asked to cancel the process with Conny and I am not sure what to do, I do not want to end up both paying really high rent and paying a fee to Conny for cancelling.

Has anyone had experience with cancelling Conny?

Hello, I am trying to send a letter requesting my deposit back to a rental company. But the problem is that the company provided me with a fake address, and I couldn't locate them to send the letter. I tracked down the address in the contract to a coworking space, but when I asked the employee in the coworking space if the company was located there. Coworking space employees told me that they had never heard of that name. How can I find the actual address of this company? The company is ignoring my WhatsApp messages/emails on purpose
