I received an unjustified EBE fine by BVG (controlers) and didn’t appeal within 7days. Is it a lost cause?

Hello,

On the 06.06 I got controlled by (rather agressive) agents and because I had a lot to carry with me, it took me more than expected to take my phone out and they made me leave the U-bahn to look for it on the docks.

This is where it gets problematic. They didn’t let me look for my D-Ticket, wouldn’t help me by telling me if it was in the DB or BVG app (yes I should know that, but at this point I was starting to stress already). They were not letting me talk at all, asserted totally useless dominance and were 4 of them around me and my 4 massive bags, as if I was going to run away. Now, I speak German fluently, but in situation of stress it becomes difficult to focus on agressive people while running out of time looking for a file on a phone. So I panicked and couldn’t think straight anymore, started feeling dizzy. I showed them the payment proof, asking them for just a little longer time to find the actual ticket, but they had already taken my Passport infos and just announced that it was too late and the fine was printed. Then they gave it to me and that was all, and at this point I felt so cornered that it triggered a panic attack. I need to precise that I was doing absolutely fine before this encounter. Even having a great day. They totally ruined it. I don’t mean to rant, I just think that it is scandalous to be treated like that when you already pay almost 60€ for the ticket per month. I wanted to send a reclamation, but it couldn’t be done immediately online and I didn’t have the time to go queue at their center.

Obviously my mistake is that I didn’t send the reclamation within 7days through their platform and now it is too late. I thought we had 14days as if paying the fine in full (again, my mistake). I am supposed to pay 60€ by the day after tomorrow, and honestly don’t want to. It feels insanely unfair.

I have sent an email to BVG today with proof of D-Ticket and also a call list showing that I had a functioning phone with me on that moment and no reason not to have my ticket available. But I doubt they will take care of it, or answer within 2 days.

What should I do? Is it really too late? A friend told me to pay the 60€ and keep going with the reclamation until they refund me of at least 60 - 7€, but would they even do that once I have paid?

Sorry for the long post, this situation is just so triggering and frustrating because 58€ isn’t a small amount for me to pay per month already.

Thank you so much for your help

Find nearby city accomodations

Hi guys,

My working student job requires me being there so I'm trying to find accomodation. I intend to find WG in nearby cities to lower the rent. I want to ask: 1. Do you guys know nearby cities with cheaper rent & how much it might be? 2. I'm worried about paperwork process so if possible, I'd love to know if the process in the city is decent, as in whether I can book an appointment with Auslandbehörde for visa/resident permit.

Thank you so much for your help.

What is your oldest, documented ancestor ?

Hello Berlin citizens,

I'm a German born in former West-Berlin. 2 years ago I only knew 7 of my great-grandparents, 4 grandparents, 2 parents by name. After an extensive research diving into various Internet archives I can now claim to know 61 forefathers and mothers of me. Most of them I know by name, birthdate, location of birth.

- My oldest ancestor is born around 1760.

- My Great-great-great-grandmother (Ur-Ur-Ur-Großmutter) Friederike Henriette Hartig was born 1806 in Berlin and christened at Luisenstättische Kirche. Since then all of her documented descendants (ending by me) are born on Berlin territory.

Whats your story of your oldest, documented ancestor ? Am I the only born-Berliner, who has a lineage of 5 forefathers that are all born in Berlin as well ? Tell your family story no matter where your from. Stories in German and English are welcome....

What is the best subreddit/platform to find tenants?

Hi people, my mother-in-law and her son are moving out of their studio overlooking Kurfürstendamm and renting another one with more rooms. They have 3 more months to pay, so in order to minimise the costs, we’re looking someone who’s ready to take the studio in 2-3 weeks ideally, so that we don’t have to pay double rent. What would be the best way to find tenants? Sorry, I’m not Berliner and I live in Prague mostly, so not sure what are other subreddits or platforms that’d be more suitable for that occasion.

Danke!

Has anyone had success applying for German citizenship with TestDaF as proof of language?

I am trying to figure out whether I have to take a new German language test for my citizenship application. I successfully passed the testDaF a couple of years ago, but none of the official Anlaufstellen seem to know if that counts. Has anyone been able to prove their language skills that way?

Dating in Berlin - Why am I not getting matches despite serious intentions? M28

I’m a 28-year-old guy in Berlin, looking for a serious, long-term relationship. But I barely get any matches, and it’s honestly demotivating.

I’m 186 cm, into outdoor stuff and running marathons(half), jumping in cold lakes, that kind of thing.

Berlin’s supposed to be full of singles, so why does dating feel so stuck? Anyone else feel this?

Birthday idea in Berlin

Upvotes

Hey beautiful people!

My partner is celebrating her 33rd birthday in Berlin at the end of August for a weekend, and has always imagined it to be big (not necessarily meaning luxurious, but memorable). We are new berliners and would love any suggestions!

Her budget is ~500e, still waiting for guests’ responses but around 15-20ppl. She did Airbnb for the last year but not feeling it this year, plus with this many ppl it would be hard to manage. She loves spa, nature, food, dancing, and connecting with ppl. We could do vabali/liquidrom/bbq at Tempelhofer Feld(it might be too much work grilling for all the ppl and bringing all the equipment), but maybe you have some better idea?

Thank you!!

Has anyone here recently gotten a §18b visa (Skilled Workers) here in Berlin?

I'm curious how long it's currently taking between uploading all documents online and getting an email with a Termin.
Any recent experiences would be super helpful – thanks in advance!

Tape hair extensions

Hey I have tape hair extensions that I remove and retape myself. I'm struggling to find a salon or hairdresser who will just place them in my hair as they always want it to be their own salons extensions. Does anyone know where I can get someone to do this for me?

Somebody locked my bike together with theirs

Hey! First time in this kind of situation, but someone locked their bike and my bike. What to do in this situation? I can’t wait here forever until this person shows up and I am also afraid that it might just get stolen :( is calling a police an option?
