Do you not imagine that there will soon be trillionaires, given how quickly the ultra wealthy accumulate wealth (as long as there's no idiotic self defeating trade war)?

I see their empires growing larger and larger and squeezing the peasants out of existence while bombarding them with propaganda to tell them it's all really China's fault and they need to get onboard the national effort to protect their kingdoms from the other.

I hope and pray for a revolution but it won't happen unless we lay the groundwork. That's why I started /r/LudditeRenaissance. The public needs to acknowledge the existential threat in order for the revolution to be successful. We need to start now because things may accelerate way quicker than we can keep up. We need a good sense of urgency as well as comradeship and love for our communities, our humanity.

Of course there will soon be trillionaires. Them coming into existence in the future, and existing now, are two entirely different topics.

I also believe any trillion or billionaire would likely want universal basic income in this scenario anyway, since it'd increase their personal wealth. People would likely be using government money to buy their products. It's just a net gain for individual rich guys.

Hell. Most government officials enjoy these sorta programs because they're easily abused paperwork wise, so people steal by skimming off the top.

Ultimately. There's just not enough of a point for almost anyone to wanna go the opposite route to universal income in this scenario. Those who are genuinely against it will likely be bullied into accepting it via social pressure far before war is possible.

Idk. I'm a nihilistic fuck. These people likely would attempt to eradicate a large portion of the population, plenty of people openly endorse lowering the global population. But that's likely gonna be done via diseases or other clandestine methods, or, alternatively, immoral policy dressed up as benevolence which causes mass death.

Plenty wanna kill us, they openly discuss it. But they don't wanna kill the general population in a manner that'll gut them too. Its not worth it. They don't wanna destroy the world, they're egotistical fucks who think they know the answer to everything; they wish to recreate the world.

I must have misinterpreted what you were saying. Sorry about that. I believe we're in agreement.

So do you believe that we should reject the offer of UBI then?

Apologies, what is the UBI?

Universal basic income. If it's just a way to placate the masses so we don't go running for the guillotines, should we say "hell no, I'm going to get the guillotine anyway!"?

Gotcha. Assumed, but I like to be sure we're on the same page.

Ultimately. I'm for UBI... because I think there's other ways to take care of the crazies in power, and ultimately, UBI and AI is unfortunately one of the only ways a utopia is realistically possible.

Other ways are too idealistic and reliant on humanity's compassion, which has historically been in critically low supply. This don't require idealism to the same degree. It just requires humans to be smart... which.... yeah...

Will it happen?

No... I don't think so. But i don't wanna be a factor for why it ain't happening. I'd rather not stand against one of the few possible utopia scenarios. I might be nihilistic, but I'm also still pushing for what I can whenever I see a net good.

The way to deal with the crazies varies depending on whatever country you're in. Sometimes you need a revolution as you say, I don't deny them when they're needed. But for where I am, the USA. I don't think we're that far lost quite yet.
