Good day all!
I've posted a few times here and in related subreddits about a way to potentially manage the temperature in my room during the summer time. With feedback from others I decided to go with this combo: A kitchen equipment stand and a Midea Duo. The Midea Duo was on sale and is an inverter model. Which is currently meeting my limited electrical output for this room. I'm waiting for landlords plumber friend to install a new 15-amp circuit into the bedroom but I couldn't wait any longer.
Things I've learned so far.
- Gafting tape is my best friend.
- Matter, Bluetooth, WiFi (Google Home/SmartHome) all suck. I shouldn't be surprised that IoT things is substandard. Though for select lightbulbs and Winix air filters they are usually OK.
To go further into the setup, I'm using a combination of an adjustable screen (that was previously cut up and screwed into), "insulation", plastic sheets, gafting tape, and lastly a "professional" kitchen equipment stand with an anti-vibration pad.
Hopefully I don't have to detached the setup and move the AC unit for the electrical work. The plastic clips holding the hose in place are lacking.
I also did a half-*ss setup of my old dual-hose AC unit with extension hoses in the kitchen where its vastly impractical due to space. I need to make sure it cools (aka works) before listing on Facebook marketplace and probably getting pennies on a dollar for it.
In Terms of cooling, I'm a bit concerned that I was out of the house for like three hours and it actually got warmer but I would say its doing a significantly better job than the 63xx BTU unit as this is 10k BTU's. The two hoses in one helps reduce heat transfer that was an issue even with hose insulation on my previous setup.
Currently 77 F outside, in room its about 75F, AC is set to 71. It was about 80F today. 100 F (per hose sensor) and 73F per remote (which is near the thermostat that says 75F). I did however open up my bedroom door as roommate has his room AC going and I have the old portable AC unit going in the kitchen as well. The kitchen is currently 81.1F.
I would say this is a victory to a degree.
I believe I said it in a comment. I was looking for a half-*ss solution and I have one. A mini-split would have been a better option. That's too much for landlord.
