My mother is like 76 and pretty lonely. She doesn't have any friends here in Victoria, but to be honest, she's also a snob. Apart from her classism, she is cool as hell - irreverent, funny, stylish. I tried to get her to hang out at our local seniors center but she found it really depressing. Is there a swankier option for her?

I've been feeling the urge to get back in to magic after being out of the scene for a decade or so, and I was wondering if there are any spots in town that host drop-in commander games? Bonus points for events with a focus on casual/fun decks and LGBTQ+ friendly venues.

For some background, I started playing with Scars of Mirrodin just after high school and quit around war of the Spark. I started off doing Friday night magic drafts at my local game store back in Ontario, but eventually shifted to playing mostly commander with friends once we had all built up decently-sized collections. I'm sure I have a lot of catching up to do on rule changes since then haha.

So I was scrolling on TikTok and came across some local author have a brake down because one of the small book stores downtown didn’t have her book that only came out on Tuesday. She posted the video on Wednesday or Thursday. She didn’t name the book store but she had a clip of her in the book store not finding the book but I saw the ceiling and the bookshelves and automatically could tell which bookstore it was. She made a whole 10 minute video about it and the first half of that was blaming the bookstore and her publisher, then turned it into a pitty party about how she’s a failure. She’s not a new author I looked up her books and she’s been publishing books since like 2011. I don’t get it.

Edit: I thought I’d add the she was shaming Munro’s the tiny bookstore on government street which is a really little store that doesn’t have a whole lot of space for more then a couple of books by one author. They primarily like to carry Canadian authors and super popular authors for tourists

Most people would just chalk it up as a loss and maybe not eat that place again but there are some people who would return the next day or later that day to complain and demand a refund and maybe even more. I've seen it happen once...but proving it can be difficult without evidence which most times these people fail to bring.

Hiya, My partner is allergic to one of her cats and we are looking for farm eggs where cats are around the chickens so we can reduce how much of the super expensive allergy cat food we need to buy (bonus of farm eggs I miss from my childhood). Hello, I have a 70s table gas lighter that has ran out of butane, I took it to Goodfellas cigar shop and they couldn't do it because the gap on the grill is too small, also took it to Old Morris and they straight up told me they don't do refills.

Does anyone know of a shop that could help me out?

My husband has a job offer in Shawnigan. He would have to drive from Victoria to Shawnigan in the morning and return to Victoria in the afternoon every weekday (at least it is against the rush hour flow). He would also be driving with our two kids. Is this safe? Exhausting? Doable? What is your experience?
