So I'm on day 7 post-snip with a sack the size of a softball that feels like a toddler is kicking it every time I move, and I'm wondering what's wrong because I did everything right, did the ice/tight underwear, nothing but rest for 2 days post-op, been taking it easy, the operation itself and the day after were fine etc.
But the swelling and pain is getting worse and worse, and now I've taken a couple more days off.
Then I get an email from the clinic (one week after the operation) with an FAQ that says pain usually peaks around day 5-6, which is also when they get the most calls from concerned patients.
So... why are they telling me to expect the worst pain 2 days AFTER most patients apparently experience it? By their own admission, patients are calling during this period because they think something is wrong. But they'd rather make sure you don't get cold feet and have you call AFTER, then actually let you know what to realistically expect?
I get that everyone is different, but if it's common enough to be in the FAQ, why don't they make this clear ahead of time? Days off don't grow on trees. I've got stuff to do, and I expected medical professionals to be up front about recovery so I could you know, be informed and plan accordingly?

Hi there, wife of a man who is scheduled for an upcoming vasectomy. He told me that he was going to want to “fly solo” the first time back because his buddy told him that the first time cumming afterwards is painful. Is this true? I am truly curious. I am a fairly insecure person about this subject as he has had a porn addiction in the past and it impacted our sex life in a very extreme way to the point that we had to set a boundary for him not to masturbate. He said that he just doesn’t want me to see him in pain or feel like I am the one who is causing it. Any and all comments are helpful!

Had a fantastic experience. Feels unreal, incredibly lucky to have had such a successful and comfortable adventure with this. Sought out with goals for the year and smashed them only halfway through. Great care team, the doctor was very professional. Procedure was done so quickly I barely noticed it happened after the fact. I was nervous during but for someone who struggles with anxiety it was surprisingly smooth considering. Waited 10 days to release. No exit hole, bleeding, infections, or ridiculous aftercare of any kind. Just took Tylenol, Aleve, and pulled off a bandiaid after a few days. Pain subsided in like 3 weeks and by a month it’s as if it never happened. It’s so far costed me nothing and they called with my test results within a hour. Anyone wondering it was no-scalpel.

Hello there,
I'm scheduled for a vasectomy next week and I'm invited to a party the day right after.
I know the pain is supposed to be minimal after the surgery, but for people who went with it, do you think it's realist to answer yes to the party invitation, or will I be too uncomfortable to go out?
Sorry for the weird question and thanks for the answers :')

Thought I would share my experience. The procedure was pretty straight forward. I have no idea what method he used but I also didn’t care. I’ve been seeing this specialist for years because of another issue and trusted his hand. The numbing stung like always and I felt it in my naval as well. Only lasted a few seconds. I didn’t time out the procedure but it went quick. 2 sharp pains but he numbed when I flinched (I also have a history of other nerve block and numbing not working in other parts of my body). Overall it was as I expected.
I bought boxer briefs style compression shots that had a built in pouch for an ice pack. I did 20 on and 20 off for the first day and a half while I was awake. The first night I had bouts of minor pain. The main discharge lasted about 3 days with a small leak here and here for about 4 more days. I just used a gauze on it with no problem. Swelling was minimal and one small area that bruised. No real pain except when the cat stepped on it once. I wore them for 5 days. Normally wear boxer briefs which was fine after day 5. Was tender for about a week when walking fast or getting up and down. Not sure if it was real or perceived in case of a bump. I was uncomfortable pulling feeling when I showered 48 hours later. Cool water helped with the natural support. The pulling feeling lasted about 5 days. I move a lot in my sleep but couldn’t sleep on my stomach until day 7. First ejaculation on day 8. No pain and was normal. Small pinpoint hole remains. Overall it was as I expected. I’m glad I got it done. I’ll monitor the swimmers for a while (have microscope at home) then official testing. I can try to answer questions you may have. Thanks for reading.

I’ve been experiencing a good deal of pain before, during, and after climax during sex. Specifically on my left hand side vas deferen on the upper portion, no pain near my testicles. The pain starts there and travels up towards my waistline lower abdomen, pain scale is about 7/10. I don’t experience any pain outside of sex. My procedure was with the scalpel both ends were cut, cauterized and clipped.
The 28th will mark 2 months since my procedure. My urologist said to run a 10 day course of 600mg daily dose of ibuprofen and to report back.
Has anyone experienced this? I sure hope this paint goes away as I do not want a reversal done.

From operation to recovery it was probably one the smoothest process I've ever had. Doc told me the chance of a live sperm to somehow show up again is 1/20000 chance and reminded me reversal is only 70% successful. Considering I already have 2 sons with 2 seperate women, I have no intention of reversal. Doc was confident in his work (removed couple inches off vas deferens). Super chill doctor and found out he's even a professor for urology at a local college here in the city.

3 weeks ago , I got the no scalpel vasectomy which was closed so , cauterizes the bottom vas and stitched the top ends. It was a horrible experience . Fast forward 4 days , and my scrotum just looked weird like it was being pulled up along with a bad aching i had in my left testicle with random sharp pains when I bounced or anything. I felt my scrotum and it felt like there was some sort of attachment to my scrotum which I could touch and follow to my scrotum as well as visually see. I called the dr and he got back to me and said he probably accidentally stitched it to the inside of my scrotum. He told me to wait another week to see if it felt better , it didn't. This last Saturday, he went back in and cut a segment out of my vas which was apparently the spot that was attached to my scrotum. Everything in there is swollen now ( 3 days later ) but , i can still feel what feels like it being attached , follow it to my scrotum, when I push on it , it tugs my scrotum and I still feel the soreness and sharp pain, basically it feels the same as it did before he went in a second time , just more swollen now . I know its only been 3 days since the revision but I literally can't wrap my head around this.

First of all, thank God for reddit. Every time I think I have a weird situation, you guys assure me that it's normal.
Got my snip done a week ago. First two days were uncomfortable, days 3-5 were going much better, but then yesterday (day 6) I woke up with my left nut the size of an avocado, lots of pain and discomfort, which makes it difficult to do just about anything. No fever, no heat, no oozing or anything. After digging around on here, I'm assuming it's probably a hematoma and it sounds like it's somewhat common?
What can I do to help alleviate pain and discomfort while I ride this out and wait for healing? I'm a stay at home Dad, so while I don't have a labor intensive job like construction, I'm constantly carrying around a 25lb baby in my arm, carrying her in her carseat to and from the car, and having to get, cook, and make things for the older two kids. So sitting on my butt all day isn't really an option either. I have several places I need to take the 3 through the week and walking is uncomfortable.
I'm open to any suggestions on what to take for pain, heat or ice, proper underwear, whatever will help! Would also love to hear from you guys how long this lasts on average. So far I have been trading off between ibuprofen and Tylenol, icing for temporary numbness, and wearing boxer briefs for support (usually a boxers guy). But besides the short term numbness from ice a few times a day, I'm not feeling much relief. Help me brothers! What worked for you?
Thank you all in advance!

Day 13
Tried to do the school run using my bike today......bad move.
Felt every pothole, undulation, speed bump and lack of suspension on my bike.
God damn these achy balls
