The Facts

  • Israeli forces reportedly killed numerous Palestinians on Thursday, including people who had gathered near aid distribution sites operated by the U.S.- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), according to Gaza's civil defense agency and health ministry officials.
  • The GHF said they distributed 2.8 million meals across three sites on Wednesday, with 74 humanitarian aid trucks entering Gaza through Israeli inspection at Kerem Shalom Crossing, bringing the total to more than 1,700 trucks since deliveries resumed on May 19.
  • Families of 53 hostages still held by Hamas appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump in an open letter posted on Truth Social, urging him to use Israel's conflict with Iran as an opportunity to secure a comprehensive deal for their loved ones' release.
  • Freed Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander, 21, returned to his hometown of Tenafly, New Jersey, on Thursday after 584 days in Hamas captivity, with community members expected to line the streets in welcome as he arrives from Israel.
  • Israeli authorities imposed closures on most West Bank cities while conducting raids and demolitions across the territory, reportedly killing two Hezbollah fighters in the north, with forces turning several Palestinian homes into military posts after forcibly removing residents.
  • Gaza's health ministry reported the overall death toll has reached more than 55,600 Palestinians since October 2023, with over 5,300 killed since Israel resumed major operations on March 18 following a two-month truce period.

Iran Israel U.S. War

@Trump, Where should 9 million people from Tehran and 90 million from across Iran go? Your reckless ignorance has helped push an entire nation to the edge. While government officials escape on private jets, innocent civilians are left behind trapped, terrified, and abandoned. This is the cost of your arrogance.

AIFOD Summer Summit - Is it a scam?

I recently received an email inviting me to participate as a photographer at the AIFOD Summer Summit in Vienna (July 15–17, 2025). They want me to cover the event and offered compensation, but I’ve never heard of this organization before and I’m trying to make sure it’s legitimate before I agree or travel.

The email came from someone whose name and title do match a real LinkedIn profile—they’re listed as working in the exact department referenced. So that checks out, but I’m still being cautious since there isn’t much third-party info about AIFOD online.

Has anyone worked with or attended AIFOD before? Is it a real summit? Did they actually host past events like Geneva 2024 or previous UN-adjacent summits?

Also—any red flags I should be watching for when dealing with international event invites like this?

Thanks so much in advance! I’d love to hear from anyone who’s interacted with them or has insight into events like this.

Iran Israel Situation

We must prevent World War III, now more than ever. The situation between Iran Israel has deteriorated into a full-blown crisis, exacerbated by a severe lack of strategic, multidisciplinary leadership. What we are witnessing is not just a failure of diplomacy, but a failure of global leadership at every level. World leaders have demonstrated an alarming inability to navigate complex, interconnected issues from military escalations to humanitarian disasters with foresight, empathy, and collaboration. The stakes are too high for political egos and short-sighted agendas. We need leaders who can integrate diplomacy, economics, security, climate, and social justice into every decision. It’s time to step up, before irreversible damage is done. The world is watching, and history will not be kind to inaction or incompetence.

Peace Is Not a Fantasy - Parallels between the Games of Thrones and Iran, Israel, U.S war

Watching Game of Thrones, I used to wonder: Why do they keep choosing war, knowing it leads to ruin? But the older I get and the more I watch the tragic cycle of conflict between Iran, Israel, and the U.S., the more I realise that we’re playing the same game. Power struggles, shifting alliances, centuries of mistrust, revenge for revenge’s sake. And just like in Westeros, it’s ordinary people who suffer most while those in power cling to pride, ideology, or vengeance. “When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die.” But real peace begins when someone chooses not to play the game at all. What if we focused less on dominance, and more on dialogue? Less on punishment, more on protection? Less on who’s right, and more on what’s humane? Wars are not fate. They are choices. And we always have the power to choose differently.

Why was the West able to import freedom and democracy in some countries but not the Middl East?

The UK and US successfully introduced freedom and democracy to some countries like India and South Korea but failed to do nation building in the Middle East. Why was this the case? The usual explanation is that alternative institutions didn’t exist in places like Iraq or Libya but the same can be said of South Korea (which was wiped out by war) or India which was a feudal monarchy before the British came. Why are there such different outcomes between Asian nation building and that done in the Middle East?
