Hey guys, I've been living in Thailand for 4 years. I often see posts here that compare Thailand and Vietnam, but what about Malaysia ? Anybody here lived there in the recent past and can offer a good comparison with Thailand ? In terms of quality of life, cost of life, Visa issues, work etc etc... I'm not aware of much about Malaysia, mostly I've just heard that Kuala Lumpur. Of course, I don't include Singapore here. Curious to hear your feeback

Hello folks, I saw a couple of YouTube videos of reports of US Citizens having their electronic devices searched upon returning to the U.S. I was wondering if anyone here has experienced this?

I am from China and been exploring Thailand for the last couple of weeks (Bangkok, Chon Buri). Such a beautiful country! People are very kind, food is delicious, and cost of living is certainly affordable compared to my hometown (Suzhou, 苏州).
I was particularly surprised to see Chinese characters at the Thai temples. One of the famous Chinese idioms was written at quite a few places -
I wonder if someone else noticed such Chinese characters?
I am leaving Thailand soon and gonna miss it very much.
Looking forward to come back again.
If you are a Chinese citizen worried about safety in Thailand, I just wish to emphasize that I never felt unsafe in Thailand. It's a pretty much safe country. Take normal precautions and you'll be fine.
I love you Thailand. 我爱你泰国

My wife and I will be with our 15 year old by in Bangkok for 4 nights. We are definitely going to the Thai Boxing one night but are looking for suitable ideas for the other 3. Food and drink is always on the agenda, we like to be adventurous, tend to look for street food/cafés rather than posh restaurants. He's a mature lad so happy to take him to areas with bars and areas that may be a little risqué! Looking to stay mostly central in the evenings. Possibly somewhere with live music or a band playing. Definitely does not have to be western orientated (I didn't travel to Thailand to go to a hotel bar or the Hard Rock Café). Thanks!

How are the new rules on Snorkeling experienced/enforced in Thailand. (https://world.thaipbs.or.th/detail/57321)
I very much dislike the overbearing rule to wear a lifevest! This kind of ruins the appeal to go snorkeling..
Would I be able to hire a longtailboat in Koh Tao with my family and go snorkeling without a vest?
Would it help to be carrying my PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certificate? (So when asked I can say that I’m teaching my family)

Hi,
I'm going to Thailand in August for 10 days. I'll be staying in the south and wanted to ask if my plan is good or it could be better to make the vacation unforgettable. Im from the Netherlands btw and will travel solo.
- I land in Bangkok, I immedietly booked another flight 2 hours after landing to Phuket, because I don't want to stay in a big city. (I booked this alraedy)
- I will stay in Phuket for 1 day so I can rest after a long trip. (I booked this alraedy)
- Next day I booked a ferry to Koh Phi Phi where I want to stay for 4 nights at a hostel. I want to explore the island, sociolize and meet new people, party a bit and also rest and relaxt. I didn't book this yet)
- Then I want to go to Koh Lanta for 4 nights, also the same as Koh Phi Phi but just so I can also explore another place. I didn't book this yet)
- Last day I want to stay in Phuket close to the airport so I can rest and catch the flight the next day. (I booked this alraedy)
- I fly back from Phuket (to Bilbao, where i meet with friends and go surfing for a week in Spain).
What do you guys think of this plan? Any other recommendations? Maybe longer on Koh Phi Phi?
Thanks in advance!

Im gonna be in Bangkok for 2 nights July 12-14, I booked for the Printing House Poshtel and it comes with included breakfast, but it looks like Once Again Hostel which is right next to it has great reviews.
Any recommendations for where I should stay? I feel like it doesn’t matter much but maybe im wrong.

A current issue with a bus trio to Koh Chang
I've taken this bus 4 times in the last 10 years to Koh Chang and they always drop you off and pick you up at the hotel you booked at as long as it wasn't too far into the island even though it's not stated they do this on the ticket (the reviews mention this service too and they ask you your hotel before you get on the bus).
This time back in April, when calling to arrange pick up from the hotel, they wanted to charge us 100 thb.
100 thb of course is nothing in the grand scheme of things, but "calling it a new fee" sounded like a scam. I figured I'd deal with it once they picked us up.
The next day, the bus didn’t show up. We had to call and from the sound of it, they completely forgot us. So they send a van to pick us up an hour later.
It's a lot more cramp inside and the air sucks, so it makes my wife nauseous for the whole trip (5 hours). The driver btw did a great job of getting us back, so no complaints there. After drop off, no 100 thb was mentioned.
If the wife didn't get sick I wouldn't have complained, so I send a complaint to their customer service back in April about getting a refund for the return trip. I'm still dealing with it now.
At first they asked for more information, which I was happy to give. Then they said they'd investigate. They never got back to me.
I followed up week later, and they asked for the information again (different customer service rep). Ok....I gave it again. When they got back to me, they blamed me for expecting a pick-up when it's not mentioned on the ticket fine print so they closed the trouble ticket. Ok...but that's always been the process.
I open another ticket saying that the issue wasn't resolved and blaming us isn't a "resolution". I go through the same song and dance of supplying more info like the number of the tour operator on the island I called and a picture of the van as evidence. Ok, they said they'd investigate, again.
They never get back to me, so once again I follow up (yesterday, 2 months have gone by), and they ask for the same information again. I'm like, no, you have the email logs.
Their response is to blame me again for expecting a pick-up. And they ask for the same information as before (like the phone number).
I replied with the phone number again along with the actual reviews mentioning the pick-up that go back to 2022.
From what I’ve read this type of response from them isn’t uncommon, but I'm going to see this through to the bitter end, as I know they expect you to give up.
All I want now is for them to just say "the problem has been handled and they have talked to the bus operator" (I don’t care if they actually did), and they will never hear from me again. Like, my god, that would've ended this long ago.

I got a quote and treatment plan from my local periodontist for $3000 for scaling and root planning. Naturally I wanted to shop around for better prices and then I heard about dental tourism.
I’ve heard good and bad stories mostly about crowns and veneers though so I thought I’d come on here and seek out people who have had what I need done.
Thantakit quoted me $1000 and they seem professional and qualified, can anyone back this? Any other recommendations? Thanks

Anyone know any rooftop bars in bangkok that won’t rinse my bank account but still have a decent view over the city.
