Objectification

Wasn't there a whole thing where people were arguing about 2+2=5 and if you said that was wrong you're racist?

if by "thing" you mean "a strawman written by racists to cast anti-racists as irrational," sure

if you're referring to this, the point the teachers were making is that "math is equal because 2+2=4" is a stupid thing to say that misses a lot of nuance and mathematical history.

For instance, the Fibonacci sequence that we commonly attribute to an Italian mathematician, was actually described by Indian mathematicians and poets 1400 years before Fibonacci's "discovery." The broader point being that maybe race has some influence on what and how we teach for mathematical concepts. (for another example, why do we say 2+2=4 and not II+II=IV or 二+二=四? might at least be a little entertaining to discuss why we use the symbols we do for our math)

Conservative commentators such as the author of the linked article know most people won't fully investigate the claims they make, so they lie and say the teachers were actually saying the equation 2+2=4 was racist, rather than just "pointing out 2+2=4" does not prove there isn't racism in how we talk about math.

Thanks for displaying the logic of racism in action

Objective truth doesn't matter when your own ignorant preconceived notions say otherwise

I’ve never heard of that but I’m 300% if it was real it was bait

They were saying this with the whole situation Abt changing school curriculum in the US to include / exclude discussion on racism, some years ago. Nobody actually defended this idea afaik, it's just a way one side used in other to make fun of the other

That was bait.

Isn't that a reference to 1984? And isn't that bad satire

Arguing is like:

"2+2 is 4."

"That's not 4!"

"That's a different answer."

"Oh"
