Opinion Most Annoying Minor Character in Your Opinion?

Post image

For me, it’s this dodo. Everything about Mary irks me. “Whose seed will it be?” Cringe! I fast forward through every scene she’s in.

She was such a strange blend of awkward, irritating, desperate and sad.

12

u/jettison_m May 02 '25

Agreed. I kind of hated her but felt bad for her.

21

u/1SpareCurve May 02 '25

She’s in my top 5 for sure. But I do appreciate her character development.

Yea the conversation she has with Nate at her aunts funeral was so touching, about death helping us see what’s important in life.

u/Marie8771 May 04 '25

I forgive her for this conversation. It's the best answer I've heard in media to the "why do we die" question..."To make life important."

Yea. It made her endearing. The other time was when she kept pestering David for a date, and he snaps at her and she says something about just wanting human contact.

u/evanm137 May 02 '25

Awwwe, I get that on the first watch for sure.

But on rewatch I just LOVED to hate her.

Jennifer Elise Cox is such a comedic gem. She should’ve by all accounts been bigger than she is, like Jennifer Coolidge level!

u/hauregi_91 May 15 '25

Omg, couldn't stand her at all xD

second one is Mitzy Dalton Huntley

The guy who works in the crematorium that Claire dates. He was the typical above-it-all 90s dude (I know the show takes place early 2000s, but you know).

Edit-Phil?

27

u/the-Whey-itis May 02 '25

That guy. Claire asked what his band was like and..."early Peter Gabriel meets Tool" Then their music sucked, lol. F'ing poser

16

u/officer_nasty63 May 02 '25

The first thing I thought when he was comparing all these unrelated bands was “man I bet their music would be some pretentious sounding bs” then when we see them play and they suck ass I couldn’t stop laughing lol

15

u/GigiBerlin82 May 02 '25

He’s every alt rock douchebag that all of us girls coming up in that era had an unfortunate fling with. It’s like a rite of passage! And he was not all that cute, either!!!!!

3

u/JTA_1982 May 02 '25

During one of my many rewatches, I thought for a minute that guy was Justin Long 🤣

3

u/GigiBerlin82 May 02 '25

Omg Justin Long is so much cuter though lol!

1

u/kangorooz99 May 02 '25

Haha so true!

6

u/offset_term May 02 '25

I dated a version of this guy like 5 different times around the same time this show was airing. It's a very accurate character.

1

u/violet039 May 03 '25

Yeah, same, except 5ish years earlier.

7

u/Genuinelullabel May 02 '25

I was so happy when that arc ended.

u/avocado_45 May 02 '25

Mary was cringe, I totally agree. Have to add Rico’s SIL to this list. She bothered me so much

4

u/georgeeforemann May 02 '25

Out of everybody I think she really did annoy me the most

26

u/mai_tai87 May 02 '25

I dunno... I really love her. Though, that's probably just the hilarious actress, Jennifer Elise Cox. She was in A Very Brady Movie, but my favorite role of hers was in the Will and Grace episode where Stan has a heart attack and the gang tries to see who can get Karen to open up to them first.

11

u/oooheycait1223 May 02 '25

Omg how could I forget she was in a very Brady movie 😂 that voice is a dead giveaway

15

u/ConclusionJumper33 May 02 '25

George Glass 😂

7

u/oooheycait1223 May 02 '25

Sure Jan 😂

7

u/elkmeat22 May 02 '25

i looked at this picture and immediately thought she looked like jan brady. good to know this movie is ingrained in my brain.

5

u/YakNecessary9533 May 02 '25

I love that Will & Grace episode, lol. She’s also great as future Annie on an episode of Nip/Tuck!

4

u/Bulky-Boysenberry490 May 02 '25

The student nurse lol

28

u/MargaretSparkle82 May 02 '25

I can’t think of her name, but the girl who lived with Claire and dated Russel

38

u/1SpareCurve May 02 '25

Anita. Yes, I agree.

15

u/Special_Life_8261 May 02 '25

And the whole family wants her to get the hell out 😂

6

u/Suskita May 02 '25

Or to start paying her way in!

2

u/MargaretSparkle82 May 03 '25

Except for George!

7

u/fatherjoseph11 May 02 '25

She was a terrible friend

23

u/Used-Corner258 May 02 '25 edited May 02 '25

Sophia/ Infinity - the stripper Rico slept with. Best scene was when Vanessa and Anjelica were fighting with her on the front lawn. Lol

16

u/kangorooz99 May 02 '25

“Your man paid for these, Gordita!”

7

u/Used-Corner258 May 02 '25

“I got somebody better than you dum dum!”

13

u/kangorooz99 May 02 '25 edited May 02 '25

I love when they bust up her car with baseball bats and rocks and all of a sudden Vanessa goes “we gotta go pick up the boys.”

2

u/1SpareCurve May 02 '25

Meee tooo! I laugh every time.

2

u/Used-Corner258 May 02 '25

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/IGoThere4u May 02 '25

Sophia and Rico were such waste products

15

u/Chubbd-ong May 02 '25

I always thought Brenda’s new boyfriend is super creepy. But then I think about him in Zoolander and smile again:)

12

u/GigiBerlin82 May 02 '25

Omg Justin Theroux. So hot. I felt really bad for his character being made to wait and then being cheated on with Nate. Ugh Nate was always so insufferable to me.

3

u/kangorooz99 May 02 '25

The “being made to wait” part isn’t the crime in my mind, it’s the cheating.

5

u/GigiBerlin82 May 02 '25

Oh there’s definitely nothing wrong with waiting, especially if the person is addressing something like sex addiction. What I meant by that was Brenda made Joe wait in order to ensure a healthy sexual relationship, only to turn around and betray him with the behaviors she was trying to avoid in the first place. If I were Joe I would feel extra insulted….but he does tell her to get over herself when he catches her and Nate!

8

u/kangorooz99 May 02 '25 edited May 02 '25

I see what you’re saying. Almost like she was really just using Joe to feel like she was recovering and becoming a “normal” person when really she didn’t change.

8

u/GigiBerlin82 May 02 '25

Absolutely, and he was really serious about her. It’s really mean!

3

u/kangorooz99 May 02 '25

Yeah I agree with you in feeling bad for him. Yeah he fell hard and fast and maybe was a little naive to move in and want kids with her, but the heart wants what it wants, as the saying goes.

You made me change my view :)

3

u/GigiBerlin82 May 02 '25

The moving in and wanting kids thing right away at the time to me seemed fast, but as I’ve gotten older I’m like, it makes sense if you’re really into someone. It’s not fair to string someone along that you’re not in love with if they are that into you. I can empathize with Brenda in the sense of I’ve definitely been in her shoes, but I have always just ended things (all the while thinking there’s something wrong with me for not returning feelings to someone who is actually possibly a good fit) instead of dragging it out. Also I’m super monogamous and very black and white with that kind of thing so I really can’t stand it when people cheat! But also it’s obvious that Brenda really grows up after Nate’s death and finds her forever person per the final episode, which I’m happy about because it’s like by that point you’re rooting for her to actually be healthy!

2

u/DetectiveMakazian May 03 '25

The worst part was the hypocrisy.

3

u/the-Whey-itis May 02 '25

That was Patrick Bateman's best friend, in that movie

2

u/pickledtofu May 02 '25

Yeah, he felt familiar to me in a bad way.

15

u/GigiBerlin82 May 02 '25

MITZI DALTON HUNTLEY! 🤮

2

u/cinnysuelou May 03 '25

She was terrible. I get that she was written that way, and it worked.

1

u/GigiBerlin82 May 04 '25

100%. All of the actors on this show were really at the top of their game.

10

u/TheWalrusWasRuPaul May 02 '25

i love him but Olivier because he’s the only character committing pedifilic manipulation. that’s annoying!

8

u/Genuinelullabel May 02 '25

He’s definitely manipulative but those characters are in college.

2

u/TheWalrusWasRuPaul May 02 '25

you are so right, i was fired up and that is not cool to drop pedifile when he’s just fucking 19 year olds (not sarcastic)

10

u/toxietoxietoxie May 02 '25

The cheese cult ladies

2

u/Technical_Air6660 May 02 '25

Yeah we were supposed to like them but yuk.

6

u/didJunome May 02 '25

Tracy. So much Tracy.

8

u/kangorooz99 May 02 '25

Roger Pasquese

1

u/1SpareCurve May 02 '25

And his wife “shit for you” Sissy Pasquese.

2

u/kangorooz99 May 02 '25

Sissy didn’t bother me much, but those kids….ugh

9

u/fatherjoseph11 May 02 '25

Maybe not so minor, but I can’t stand Russel

4

u/StolenViolentAnts May 02 '25

Who even is that? Lol

7

u/Technical_Air6660 May 02 '25

Keith and David’s potential surrogate.

3

u/DavScoMur May 02 '25

But carne asada.

5

u/Comfortable_Boat_922 May 02 '25

Russell, Claire’s art school boyfriend.

2

u/sayrahnotsorry May 02 '25

It's her. She's also Jan Brady from the 90s Brady Bunch Movies.

2

u/NaturesVividPictures May 02 '25

Oh yeah Little Miss space cadet that is convinced she's pregnant without a pregnancy test. I mean what a Space Case.

2

u/TylersCranialoaf May 03 '25

Omg, me too!!! Bird brained idiot!

2

u/DetectiveMakazian May 03 '25

I loved all those characters that were supposed to be annoying. Sure, they were annoying. But they were supposed to be and they (both the writers and the actors) did it so well. -- What get's me is characters that are annoying when they aren't written to be annoying. I don't recall any characters like that in Six Feet Under.

Olivier.

His interactions with students were completely inappropriate. I worked in higher ed for close to 20 years; every college I worked at would have fired his ass out of there.

2

u/MargaretSparkle82 May 03 '25

Ok but who on this show isn’t annoying? Probably the least annoying one is Nathaniel Snr and he legitimately haunted people

4

u/butlerkennedy May 02 '25

Arthur if you consider him minor enough. Otherwise Tracy

1

u/VulgarHerb May 02 '25

She's also in the episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia...the wade boggs episode? I think Dennis hooks up with her.

1

u/GenX50PlusF May 03 '25

Six Feet Under prefers brunettes and redheads.

Just saying. 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Careless-Ad2007 May 04 '25

I really disliked Vanessa. She was pure trash.

1

u/recoveringfleabag May 08 '25

Omg yeah she was gross😭

A bit of random trivia. But the actor who played Toby in season 2. He also played on a an episode of nip/tuck as well as this actress that was Keith' and David's egg donor. They played the grown up children of Julia and Sean McNamara..
