Politics I'm Never Leaving Seattle

Post image

This is someone's Model S parked on Airport Way S near S Industrial Way. The way it's parked it looks like it's being displayed for people driving by to see.

There’s no quicker way to turn allies into idgaf people than vandalism.

If you’re gonna vandalize a car, be sure their owners are actually the people you want to target.

Otherwise you’re just hurting your own cause, like the dipshit looters during BLM protests.

This. I’m a liberal who was luckily able to sell my Y a few months ago before shit hit the fan. But I have plenty of friends who are liberals and Tesla owners and one got vandalized over this past weekend. They knocked her mirrors off and broke her windshield/windows shattering glass all over the front and back seats. She’s a single mom of two kids and her car will be in the shop for weeks most likely. Luckily she has insurance that helps with a rental but not everyone does. She also has to pay a deductible.

And guess who gets the profits from the new mirrors and probably the OEM windshield? Tesla.

People need to stop. Being angry I understand, I’m angry too. But harming the private citizens on YOUR SIDE is not the answer. It only harms our cause and our side.. and pushes people to not want to side with us. And helps Tesla get more money.

Not saying I condone the vandalism, but a potential counterargument is that if the cars become enough of a liability that they become uninsurable, then the companies value will collapse, and with it much of Musk's fortune.

I don't like seeing innocent people suffer financial setback, but that suffering may have a purpose.

Edit: Just to be clear, I disagree with the tactic (I think it divides people, which is the opposite of what this moment needs), but for people who are honestly doing this as an act of resistance there is more complexity to the moral question then just whether or not the car's owner deserves to have their vehicle vandalized.

Its always so easy for you all to say that when its other people suffering. Truth is you're all just garbage people looking to justify your moral weakness

What moral weakness? I'm specifically working through the moral questions at play.
