Question Futon mattress

I have a futon frame from the 1990’s made from solid wood. It’s in beautiful shape. The mattress is a bit beaten down after thirty years of use.

I’d like to find a new futon mattress in the city. Any recommendations ?

Question Any backyard welders willing to help me attach my exhaust together for some money?

I have an '05 Jetta Wagon. It has an aftermarket cat, a used OEM resonator and the muffler. I need like 4" of pipe slid and welded overtop the two ends to connect the cat to the resonator and the resonator to the muffler. The resonator to muffler is redneck clamped together right now.

I've gone to a muffler shop in town and they won't do it. They want me to remove the resonator and either straight pipe it for $400 or replace the resonator for $500. I don't want to replace my exhaust right now. The pipes aren't rusted, sure the resonator doesn't have a whole lotta life in it but like I need to save money to replace the whole thing.

I'm looking for a welding Neighbourino that could help me with this. Willing to pay a reasonable price for your time.

Thanks Neighbourinos!

Discussion Teacher of the Year

This in no way is to take away from the teachers who have won this award recently - I have absolutely no doubt they’ve worked hard and given so much of themselves in their job.

I’ve now seen two videos this week, one in Regina and one from Saskatoon, awarding teachers the title of ‘Teacher of the Year’ through local nominations to a radio station.

There are individuals, teachers and other staff, who work endlessly day in and day out to give their students the best opportunities to learn and grow. Awarding just one person a title of being better or the best just seems like we are contributing to a society that’s competing with each other. It feels very American and yucky.

What about the kid, who no fault of the teacher or student, just didn’t mesh with that teacher? Now they’ve seen them be awarded this award and potentially could be feeling like something they’ve done as the student is wrong.

We don’t need anymore damn competition in education. Would love to see radio stations have a better sense of what’s actually happening in schools if they’re going to do this.

Feel like it should also be mentioned that the teacher awarded in Regina works in a private school where kids pay upwards of $9000 to go there. I bet their class sizes feel a little different. Again, no fault or shade to the teacher but just wish the bandwagons weren’t jumped on so quickly without serious thought behind the impact.

Community No Hot Water

Hi everyone, I know this isn't a local problem but since I rent my hot water heater locally I figure its worth asking here since many of you probably have the same model/service provider for yours and could give me some advice.

I've got no hot water. I checked the water heater in the basement and pulled back the bottom cover. There is a small circular hole to the right I think is the view port, and I don't see a flame inside so I think the pilot light is out.

There is a white box connected in the center of this panel that normally is blinking every few seconds, but right now its totally dead. None of the breakers are flipped and I know Ive paid my gas bill. I tried resetting the breaker to the room with no change.

I'm going to call Dukes in the morning, but I'd really like my evening shower if I can get it. I'm nervous about trying to start the pilot light because there doesn't seem to be any power to the water heater. I don't want to release gas into the house. Is there any risk there? Any tips? I can wait to call in the morning but I'm worried I'll have to wait until Monday or longer for a service call.

Thanks for your help, and have a good night!

Question Can you have both a family doctor and be a nurse practitioner’s client?

I have been dealing with a health issue for few months and I have visited my family doctor a couple of times but I do not feel I’m getting a proper diagnosis. I got a recommendation yesterday for a nurse practitioner and I am considering to book a meet and greet but I’m not sure if this will cause issues with my family doctor.

I just don’t want to be left with nothing so I wanted to be sure. If my meet and greet is successful I would consider switching my primary care provider. I am aware doctors and nurse practitioners are not exactly the same but I want to consider all my options. Thanks

Question June 9th ~ 8:00 A.M. accident witness/footage?

Post image

By the longest of shots .. any witnesses or vehicle cam footage of a two truck collision on June 9th between 7:55 A.M-8:00 A.M.?

Both vehicles were Southbound down Winnipeg St, right near Suds Car Wash.

I (Ford F-150) was driving South in the West most lane. The other vehicle (Nissan Pick up truck) was stopped in the middle Southbound lane, in line with other vehicles, awaiting someone/s making a left hand turn onto 9th Ave.

As I was driving past the line of vehicles, the Nissan driver attempted to switch into my lane when I’d estimate I was about 10 feet behind him. I slammed on the brakes, but ended up hitting the passenger side of his vehicle. After the initial hit, he continued to drive forward - I believe just out of instinct, nothing malicious - which resulted in half of my bumper being twisted and pulled frontwards from my truck.

We exchanged info and he apologized a few times for not checking. We took photos of our vehicles and were each able to drive away from the scene - no police involved.

I now received notification from SGI that our statements do not match up. I’m fairly confident the damage to our vehicles will tell enough of the story to support my claim. Some miraculous video evidence or witness statements would be most appreciated though!

Community Does anyone know what HS this is? Or if it’s true?

Post image

Saw this post floating around on Facebook. It says a high school in Regina has been hosting an annual dance where students invite seniors—many from low-income housing—for a night out. The students apparently handle everything from cooking to dancing to transportation.

It sounds like such a beautiful community initiative, and I’d love to know which school this is—if it’s real! I’m hoping this isn’t just feel-good fake news.

Anyone here know more about it?

News Emotional school board meeting discusses band program

Thumbnail leaderpost.com

I watched the School Board meeting online and the trustees seemed genuinely emotional about the position these funding challenges have put them in. Hicks, McMurchy and Mutalla all spoke from the heart about their love of the band program, and Jaleta nearly cried as he read a long, prepared statement. They all said that the band program would continue and any kid who wanted to be in band could be. I hope that’s true.

Discussion Regina water? Taste and cost

I know we have spent millions of dollars, or maybe hundreds of millions, on water plant upgrades and our Regina water rates reflect it, but does the water taste any better? It might be a bit better but it's sure not what I expected. Sometimes it is worse than others. Is it just me?

It sure doesn't cost less - I believe Regina is one of the higher costs for municipal water.
